We ordered 2 dishes of ChangFen, and 1 bowl of congee to share, and also 1 cup of cold HKG style milk tea. The milk tea was in a bowl of ice cooling the drink from outside, instead of putting the ice into the drink. I really like that idea. We had the beef and pork ChangFen and shrimp and beef ChangFen. They were good, but just not enough soya sauce. My kid loved the shrimp and beef so much. The ChangFen was thin enough to see through. The seafood congee was having so much ingredients in it, which it was so traditional. We all loved the food and the taste here. We definitely enjoyed it and try to come back later. read more

I also took one home as well with a sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves. It too was awesome. The youtiao was also well done with the right amount of crispness and doughy taste in the center. I got the chang fen with fish And it was not amazing however the place was packed. The texture is okay and the fish scattered throughout was also just okay but not amazing. They are quick service have a menu that is all chang fen with different feelings such as meat or veggies. Stopped by for a quick lunch. Congee serving is very generous and flavorful. I barely had to add any seasonings. We also tried the curry fish balls which was not bad! The truffle mushroom shrimp rice roll had enough truffle flavours and the sauce was really good. The honey lemon ribean was also nice and refreshing. Food: 4 Stars Service: 3 Stars Ambience: 3 Stars Fill Factor: Satisfied For the longest time I had wanted to try Yin Ji Chang Fen but I always ended up going somewhere else since the food options in the area are so numerous. When I finally decided to come here I realized how much of a mistake it was skipping this place all these years. Now this is pretty much the only place I eat at when I am in the area as I love it so much. I have been here on many occasions now and each time I try to have a different type of ji chang fen but also a few staples which I always order. We always do an order of curry fish balls, HK style milk tea, and the dough stick rice noodle rolls. The dough stick rice noodle rolls taste really good and feels fresh every time we have ordered it. We ordered this at another location once and it did not taste as good as the one at this location. In terms of rolls, I have tried a number of them and you cannot go wrong with the basic pork & shrimp, shrimp & chives, and pork & chives options. Those always taste great. I have also tried the beef brisket rice rolls, shrimp & scallops, duck meat rice rolls. The only one of the three I enjoyed was the shrimp & scallops as I did not find the taste of the other two to be that special and the beef brisket one was really difficult to eat with the big chunks of meat. The best way to describe the service is that it gets the job done effectively and efficiently. They bring you utensils, your food and the bill (though the last time we went we had to order via paper menus instead of QR code) otherwise nothing special. I do have to mention that the food gets to your table incredibly fast so even when there is a line to get in the wait is not that bad since the service is so quick. The space itself is not incredibly large and at times when it is busy can feel a bit cramped but not too bad. The place seemed reasonably clean and bright so again no complaints there. Overall, this is a great place to grab a quick bite at the reasonable price. It has become my go to when I am in the area and looking for comfort food so i definitely recommend giving it a try as well if you are into rice rolls. read more

Came by for a super late dinner the other night and it was a mediocre experience. Parking was available in the strip mall lot and the air conditioning was limited. Staff wore a mask and nitrile gloves. Ordering was done on a scrap piece of paper along with a paper picture menu. Started off with the shrimp rice noodle roll and it was mediocre. Although the rice noodles were rather thin, the shrimp were tiny and not super fresh...bummer. Moved on to the beef brisket lo mien and it was also mediocre. The lo mien was a generous portion and the beef brisket was very lean... Washrooms were compact and only featured cold water at the sink... This is the second time that I came to this small store tucked in a small shopping mall. They serve Chinese style breakfast from 8:00am and even offers good deal when you dine between 8:00-10:00am. It is hard to find a good value breakfast restaurant here in Toronto, not like back in China, breakfast has so many choices and they all open very early from 6:00am. I got the morning combo - porridge + rice noodle rolls + free HK milk tea. The porridge came in big bowl with lots of seafood, pork and peanuts, the rice noodle rolls having beef and shrimp, all very fresh and tasty, I also ordered Chinese donut. I was very full after the big breakfast, not having appetite for lunch. The porridge is good for 2-3 people, I wish they have smaller portion for 1 person. The service is minimal, but efficient. The soy sauce for the fresh rice rolls is so tasty, sweet and a great compliment to the food. They use take out containers as your bowl when dining in, for easier cleanup I guess but not the most sustainable. Got the rice rolls wrapped around fried dough - a classic that comes with hoisin sauce and peanut sauce, doused in soy. This was divine! 10/10 The dried shrimp rice roll is also delicious. Super simple with the mini dried shrimp but packed with flavour and adds a harder texture to the rice rolls. 10/10 Congee is pretty standard here and a nice addition to your meal. Our favourite chang fen stop! Family friendly. Service (Family Friendly): During our latest dine in experience, the staff asked if we needed a highchair for my daughter which was very attentive and considerate. We were brought tea and told to order from their qr code on the table. The ordering process was relatively simple, but you will need data on your phone as there is no wifi. As my daughter is still young (3yo), we tend to avoid eating at small restaurants during peak meal times (lunch and dinner rush) as she can eat pretty slow, so that usually means the staff are on break. Even so, the service we received was still surprisingly fast! Food: We've tried a variety of dishes, and ate in and bought for takeout. Very fresh, everything comes out piping hot. Our favourite is the dough stick rice noodle roll. The doughstick is crispy and light, not heavy and dense like many other places. Visited Yin Ji Chang Feng for the first time at their Yonge Street location and we loved it so much we had to go again, this time at this location and it is just as good! The braised pork hocks were exceptionally tender and flavorful. The pork and preserved egg congee was a delightful surprise; did not get a good picture but will likely be my go to when I want a more simple congee. The staff here is friendly and the pricing is very affordable. A lot easier finding parking at this location compared to the yonge street location. Pay at the end of the meal. We got a beef and chives rice roll. The rice roll is nice and thin, there was ample beef and lettuces and chives throughout. Flavor was great, came out piping hot and fresh. We also got the fried dough in rice roll. Really great crispy fried dough stick which contrasts the delicate soft rice roll. Peanut butter and sweet sauce of course makes this a flavorful dish. I have to emphasize the dough stick was still crispy which is uncommon at other places. We got the lai wan style congee. I probably would have liked a few more toppings inside but the congee is flavorful. Ingredients inside are delicious. There was one in particular that I had never had or heard of before, fish. It was pretty good and a nice chance to try something different. The chang fen was smooth and not overly steamed, so done quite well. The flavors were good too, we ordered a nice variety, some with beef tendon, one with fish and others with pork and shrimp. Even the plain ones with fried dough was tasty especially dipped in the peanut/hosin sauce. We even got some of their plain stir fried noodles to try and those were good too. When you come here you are given sheets of paper to write your order down on. Also the bathrooms here are tiny, very very tiny. read more

I had a great experience at one of their other locations in Toronto. Naturally, I had to come try this location too. My partner and I decided to check out Markham this time around. I love that you can order with the QR code at your table, so you don't have to wait for a server. They are also quick with bringing the food out, and each dish is freshly made to order. Our food was piping hot, and it amazes me how many different combinations they can think of with rice noodles. It is what they are known for, but they have more than just rice noodles. I also love how thin their rice noodles are, so you don't feel bloated but it also doesn't fall apart. After you've paid they give you a beeper to let you know when it's done. They are also open to some indoor dining but not completely. I just waited in the parking lot. We came back from the airport and the only thing in close proximity that was opened past 12am was Yin Ji. I was shocked myself. Luckily the food here is excellent and never misses a beat. We ordered our usual seafood congee and pork and century egg congee. Both congees were flavourful and fluffy like it should be from a congee restaurant. We also ordered their truffle mushroom rice roll. I do not think I have ever ordered this before. The mushroom roll is good but the truffle can be overpowering. I could see why some people enjoy this. It was not bad but I would probably opt for shrimp and chives next time. Overall though, I had a great experience. I like to order online and the pick up process is very easy and smooth. But you can also order on Uber Eats for pickup/delivery or by phone. They usually have a family combo on Uber Eats as well (2 congers, 2 rice rolls, one snack, and two drinks). My usual go-to order is a pork liver, pork kidney, pork slice congee or the minced beef one. I get it without ginger slices, green onions, and peanuts (personal preference) with an additional corn topping. It is a good portion with quite a bit of the toppings in it. Although I do find the North York location sometimes gives more toppings. The pork liver is not overcooked. For rice rolls, I prefer their bbq pork one over their beef one. The bbq pork is thinly sliced and quite flavourful. They all come with a good sized tub of sweet soy sauce. Their dough fritters are pretty standard. My favourite is their sweet crueller!! It's a good size and they fry it in relatively fresh oil. Definitely try the sweet crueller if you have never gotten it before at congee places. Generally, I think asians like their beef soft & slippery. I've heard some places give you warmed soya sauce on the side. The soya sauce was already added when I received my items. I would have preferred to have the soya sauce on the side so I could control the amount to add. I think I or hope they give the sauces on the side if you do takeout. The fried donut rice roll was my favourite. The donut was crispy & chewy. The hoisin & peanut dipping sauce was yummy! You wouldn't think this food combination would work, but it does!
