My family has been coming to Yip's for 15+ years for oil change, wheel alignment, and other services. They open at 9am and I usually call before coming to see if they're busy. Occasionally there's a queue but simple services like oil change can be done in parallel. I went in today at 9:30am and there were no lines; around 9:45am more people trickled in. For oil changes, I bring my own synthetic oil and oil filter so I'm just paying for the service, which is $30 for my Honda Civic. These prices are very good compared to other places. Oil change took about 20-30minutes. There are three staff members and they speak Mandarin, Vietnamese, and English. read more

They are constantly busy, but always polite and take the time to find out what type of service is needed for your car. They make recommendations when they inspect your car but it's entirely up to you to do the needed recommendations or not. They are fair in their pricing quotes. When trying to make the appointment, they answered the phone very quickly. I asked them if they did brake service and they did, so I was happy about that, and then I asked them could they fit me in on Thursday, which was 3 days away and they said yes, they could. Upon arrival, they took me in right away and called me within an hour to an hour and a half with the estimate of what needed to be done. I had electrical problems and took my car to Yip. He diagnosed the issue within a few minutes and recommended replacing the alternator. I went home and researched the issue myself to make sure I wasn't being taken advantage of, and it turned out he was absolutely correct in his diagnoses. This gave me confidence that he was an honest man, so I went back and asked him to do the repair. He provided a couple of options, I chose one and within 6hrs he completed the job with flying colors. Be warned! If you're getting an oil change make sure they aren't using power tools to remove or place your bolt. If they tell you that your oil pan needs replacing due to stripped threads. See if they can simply fix the problem by using: oversized plug, female insert on the pan, rubber plug, time-sert threaded inset and more! Don't settle for an expensive fix. Good mechanics will have several solutions at hand. The mechanic who did my oil change ruined my oil pan thread. Instead of manually tightening it with a hand socket he used an air wrench which of course over tightened the bolt. After he changed my oil he then told me that I needed to replace my entire oil pan from their mistake and it was going to cost $400+ for parts and labor. I told him that he needed to temporarily fix it because he sure wasn't getting my business after this. His temporary solution was to add a glue substance on the bolt thread and twist it in the pan while the extra glue would come out making a tight seal so the oil wouldn't leak. read more

I've taken my car here for an oil change twice now. They're fast and effective. Both times I've just walked in and asked if they had an opening for an oil change. Both times I've left within 30-45 minutes, even though they had other cars being worked on. They don't try to sell you on repairs or things that you don't need. Being a young woman, I've had places try to tell me I needed repairs I know I didn't need. Here, I ask for an oil change and I get an oil change. No nonsense. I love it. Some may consider it a little pricey for an oil change ($30) but I think it's worth it for the speed and efficiency at which it's done. The cheap, $20 places, in my experience, are the ones that take forever and try to sell you new air filters. Doesn't happen at Yips! read more
