First off: this is by far the best name for a froyo joint ever. Go ahead and say "Yo Fresh" and try to not smile. Impossible. In fact, whenever I need a pick-me-up, I just say "Yo Fresh" to myself -- works every time. But they may be shortchanging themselves by not having an exclamation point in their name. "Yo! Fresh" or "Yo Fresh!" might inject some extra excitement and phunk into their name. But this is still the phunkiest froyo joint I've been to. In fact, they should should make "Yogurt & chill" their tagline. (Please guys; use that. It's my gift to you). The yogurt is good too (more on that later). But the ambience... This place is in the 600 block of Chicago in Evanston -- not the stompin' grounds of the 1%.. which is another reason I like coming here: to keep things real and kick the flava. Case in point: I went there tonight (7th time) and (again) they're bumpin' the funk. Sounded like Off the Wall era MJ... but I couldn't place it. I asked the fly honey -- err, nice woman behind the counter the name of the jam. "That's 'Wanna Be Startin' Somethin', shoog." (She may not have actually called me "shoog" - but she did in my mind). BTW that's from Thriller - but it would be right at home on OTW. I hung out there with my boy Cool C after a decent day on the Ruzzle boards - and we got down on some froyo and took in the jams here for 1/2 hour. More ambience: They have these two awesome leather La-Z-Boy chairs opposite each other -- which we claimed for our feast. Now as good as this ambience was up to this point -- it got better. See, they have this neon sign with iridescent drawings and messages on it that continuously changes colors... Yo! Fresh! At this stage - I'm half-expecting the D-O-double-G to wizzle in and order one up.. (maybe next time). The workers there are extremely friendly. In fact, all the decor and messaging promote inclusiveness and family and all the welcoming vibes anyone could want. They have games (got down on some Connect four and rocked a little Simon Says), and magazines and a fireplace right next to the La-Z-Boy chairs... It feels less like a commercial establishment and more like your uncle's living room (if you had a funky fresh uncle). As awesome as the ambience is - most peeps are probably coming here for the froyo. The yogurt is good - especially the salted caramel (care-a-MEL or KAR-mul... you decide). It is what you should expect when you want some good froyo: cold, creamy and not too sweet. The pistachio was not as cold as it should be; a bit runny. But hey - the salted caramel was off the chain... topped off with some sprinkles - YO! Fresh! They also have an assortment of fresh fruits for those that are into that sort of thing. Love, love, love this quaint little self-serve frozen yogurt shop. The yogurt is great, they have many favors and mixes available (including fat free options) and the topping options are plentiful. To top it all off (pun intended), they have my favorite flavor, which is euro tart, and I have a hard time finding it elsewhere!The owners are often onsite and the customer service is great. My kids of course love it, too! The only reason I didn't give this place five stars is because of the prices, which are a bit high. Because it's self-serve and the bowls they provide are large, the price can climb pretty quickly (the bill for me and my kids was 20 bucks). read more

I love ice cream, frozen yogurt, and basically anything in that realm. So of course I was looking forward to a fro yo place moving in. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. Of the ten or so flavors available I only liked one (I sampled them all). Most were way too sweet or had a very artificial taste to them. The decor is weird and very mismatched. Here are the reasons why: great selection of flavors and topping, including VEGAN options, my son has a serious dairy allergy and this place really helps him feel special to be able to have a treat. Also, there's a perfectly sized play area for kids and reading area for adults. I was impressed with the selection of toys and games for the younger guests and local newspapers and books for adults. Including some books you can take with you, or you can donate a book once you are done reading. Lastly, this a locally owned business, the owners are here frequently and they are very kind to all their customers. Customer service is really important to me. I am so happy to see a family owned business here in this community! The environment is diverse and respectful, the products are high quality and it's a great place to spend an hour with family. read more

The food isn't anything super fancy, just your typical sandwich or hotdog or salad, but overall, the food was good, the service was very good, the place was very welcoming and family friendly. Stopped in here after going for a walk along the lakeshore and the owners were nothing but nice. Everything was super sanitary: there were gloves at the door, cups were already out and spoons were separated so you don't have to touch anyone else's items. Great experience. In this unassuming yogurt shop I always pass on the way to Walgreens, is an array of more than just yogurt. They also have sandwiches, soup, coffee/hot drinks, and more! It's usually empty so I like to come here and get some work done if my other coffee shops are too crowded/busy. The froyo is nothing special outside of the froyo universe but I'm just glad they have plain tart. One thing I don't like about Forever Yogurt is not every location has a plain tart flavor. I could care less for a salted caramel strawberry piña colada flavor (that's what the toppings are for!). Speaking of toppings, it was very clean and organized. All the spoons were even all positioned the same way! A great find. I will definitely take my nieces and nephews here the next time I babysit! read more

I discovered this wonderful shop while waiting for a prescription at the Walgreens next door. Besides yogurt concoctions, the menu includes savories like quiche and sandwiches. And the atmosphere couldn't be cozier: a small fireplace with plush armchairs, cute tables, and shelves of amusements for the kids. Everything fresh and bright, with friendly service. I set the bar for frozen yogurt at the level of Yogurtland and Pinkberry, and Yofresh falls far short in all fronts. Yofresh is more expensive ($0.49 per ounce), has a smaller selection of yogurt flavors and toppings (the latter is particularly lacking in fruit and non-chocolate, crunchy toppings),and their frozen yogurts and sorbets don't taste good. I'll grant that the space is fine and the staff are friendly, but the core product is disappointing, so I won't be coming back and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

I went here to catch up with a friend and enjoy fro yo however that didn't happen. The fro yo was good but I have to say the toppings selection could be be better (neater, more variety, tongs/serving spoons for each item, ect...). The decor is cool but the employee behind the counter was having a VERY personal conversation on the phone while we were there... This made our visit uncomfortable so we left. I'm just glad I didn't have children with me but I do feel bad for the other kids that were there who had to hear his conversation. If I could post the video I took... I would... I like the yogurt there, it's very creamy and resembles ice cream. Almost all the flavors I tried were good, and I especially like the sugar free vanilla. The reason I give them 3 stars is because I was in there one day and the yogurt I got tasted funny, like it had gone bad. I was too far away to go back and now am skeptical about the place. I did come back because they had a free yogurt offering and was very pleased by the yogurt. I will make sure to use a sample cup on the flavors I get to ensure they are fresh. read more

We really enjoyed our visit to this self-serve frozen yogurt shop. Not only were the owners friendly and helpful but the space was warm and inviting. They have a fireplace, couches and toys/games for kids. We were able to linger longer than we normally could at other ice cream shops. While they serve food, we only had yogurt. The yogurt was awesome. Best of all the shop was very allergy friendly. They had two vegan flavors, including chocolate! Many other shops that have non-dairy ice cream or yogurt only offer vegan fruit flavors. They kept the nut topping separate to avoid cross-contamination. We will certainly be back! read more
