Some people have fancy traditions. Ours? We go eat overpriced frozen yogurt and somehow convince ourselves it's healthy because it isn't technically ice cream. That's called parenting math. Here's the dangerous part: you pay by weight. Every gummy bear, Oreo crumble, brownie bite, and handful of sprinkles feels free... right up until you reach the register and suddenly you're wondering if you accidentally put a down payment on the yogurt machine. Was it worth it? Absolutely. The place was spotless, the staff was friendly, and the selection of flavors and toppings was fantastic. More importantly, watching my son's face light up reminded me of bringing my daughters here years ago. Those are the moments that stick with you long after the yogurt is gone. I've been to frozen yogurt shops that felt tired or picked over. Yogurt Extreme in Albany, next to Fred Meyer, is the opposite. Everything was fresh, clean, well-stocked, and just plain fun. Five stars from me. Great hospitality, great cleanliness, and great value for the experience. Just one piece of advice: maybe don't tell your kid, "You can put whatever you want on it." I used to go to the one in Corvallis, but due to a recent move we went to the Albany one. Will certainly be coming back!! Many flavor options and even more options for toppings, and a weight-based pricing system. Cups were sturdy and didn't melt. Froyo refroze well if you want to take it home and have a long drive. Staff didn't give us a hard time like others are saying, interacting minimally and seeming very professional and nice. The only real complaint I have is that several flavors were out, but it might just have been the time of day, and for some reason the flavors did work if combined with an alternate one (They have a swirl option)?? One of the froyo machines was taken out of the wall to be refilled and let us see into the back, but that didn't really impact anything negatively, just a bit weird. read more

My family went here tonight to celebrate new Years Eve. The staff followed us around like we were going to steal toppings. The staff didn't greet us or say anything to us but followed our child around as she got her toppings. My child used the utensils and was very appropriate but got treated terribly. The staff didn't say a word to us until we were checking out and even then was rude. I've never been treated like this in my life and I can't stand that my child was treated so unfairly. First things first we walked into this fine establishment. After we grabbed our cups and admired the bright and breathtaking hot neon pink colored cup, we began to look at the favors possible to add into our bright and breathtaking colored cup. Of course, we all gravitated to the cake batter, but as we realized that just cake batter is so plain that it's basically transparent by itself, we decided that we need a punch of flavor and color to our delicious cake batter frozen yogurt. We wanted a fruity kick of flavor amongst our taste buds, but unfortunately we were extremely disappointed when we became cautious of the fact that the strawberry frozen yogurt that had previously been displayed for the public to enjoy and love, had no longer been available. After this fork in the road, we had realized that we're gonna have to take a different route. Amongst hard pondering we finally came to the conclusion that mountain blackberry could possibly give us the rollercoaster of flavor that we needed. After being dazzled by the smooth and spectacular periwinkle purple, we were drawn to the enchanted rainbow of toppings calling my name a far. After examining the magnificent topping that were graciously available for the public to scarf down, we arrived at FruitLandia. After loading some sweet and delicious fruit onto our fairly land of froyo, we took a gander over at the sauces. We decided to add a sweet touch to our punch of fruity wonderland. We added marshmallow sauce to our frozen yogurt and it came out smooth and luxurious. Heartbreakingly when we went to add some Carmel deliciousness to our sweet and tangy meal, it seemed to be missing. Where did it go? Anyways after that complete ship wreck, we decided to wrap it up since we couldn't take any more mental pain after missing out on some opportunities of a lifetime. After weighing and paying, we picked up our delightful frozen yogurt and looked for a spoon. Which was when this absolutely mind bogglingly phenomenal beaming pink colored spoons. I grabbed an enough for us to be able to eat comfortably, and then we decided embark on our journey home after this long and emotional series of events. I thought I'd start Yelping some businesses in Albany since I will be spending some time here anyway. Albany isn't the most cultured place around, but this fro-yo spot does add some live active cultures. (lame joke I know, but hey I couldn't resist) They use yogurt from yo-cream, which I am not a huge fan of. I judge frozen yogurt places by how good the original tart flavor is. Yo-cream's tart is too icy and not creamy enough. The selection of yogurts is also lack luster, the flavors are boring with the regular vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, lemon, mango and custard. But I must say the selection of toppings is the most impressive I have seen around, with lots of fruit, tons of mochi flavors, lots of cereal toppings, with much more. But is it nice to have a place like this in the neighborhood, so you don't have to drive 30 mins to get some soft serve fro-yo. Conveniently location as it always seems to come up in conversation whenever we are at Fred Meyers with the kids. My first experience with yogurt extreme was a random trip with my step-mom, son, and two younger sisters. When we arrived I was greeted with an overabunamce of pink, black, and silver. My sisters raved about this place so i was ready to be wowed....it fell a bit short. It's awesome that they allow you to sample the yogurts, however I felt a bit let down by all "flavors," as they are pretty blan and seem very icey for yogurt. I like that they change the flavors of yogurt so you always have somthing new to try. They have a vast array of toppings from mini gummy bear, nuts, fruits, and this strange round stuff I'd never seen. Unfortunately the toppings out do the yogurt by a long shot. It seems like a great place for the younger crowd as most of the staff i have seen in there has been teenagers, and they are not very helpful nor do they come across very friendly. I love that they have the tv screens running with the photos of the customers as it makes it a bit more personal and the xbox with the kinect is a great idea in keeping the kids entertained. I wish the yogurt dispensers were a bit easier to work with, i have had to use a bit more strength than I expected to actually get the machine to dispense yogurt. They are also a bit spendy for a yogurt shop in my opinion. read more
