On a recent visit to the campus, I had to stop by Yogurt World because a friend said it was the best in San Diego. As soon as I walked in, the owner greeted us and I could tell what a special place he had made it. The variety of flavors was so new to me, every topping you could imagine was there, the shop had something for everyone. I ordered Thai tea and match with popping boba. My daughter had chocolate brownie with mochi and boba. Without a doubt, my next visit to UCSD will include another visit to Yogurt World. read more

Hands down one of the few places I would eat at at UCSD as well as the best froyo place I've had. yogurt world has a ton of Asian flavors like taro, Thai tea, Matcha, Vietnamese coffee, and other classic ones like tart and cheesecake. I find that with tea-flavored ice creams, it can be hard to get the right balance between being too subtle or being too strong. The tea flavors here are a good mix of being strong enough that you can taste it, but not too overpowering. There's also a lot of different toppings here compared to other froyo places that I've gone to. It's definitely a great pick me up for after classes or midterms. I came here today for a sweet treat later when I finish a task that has taken a long time to complete. Ahh sweet, sweet completion desserts. This store is CLEAN, VERY well organized and stocked! Flavors: they have a variety of unique and standard flavors. I was highly impressed with all of them! I ended up getting the Hawaiian pineapple because it tastes like a dole whip! I did try a few other flavors to test and their flavors are all GREAT! Next time I'm getting the watermelon! The gentleman behind the counter is the most welcoming and friendly person I have met. He's genuinely happy! He's pleased to help and provide tester cups so you can find your favorite flavor and who doesn't like a compliment when they're checking out? For being a froyo place on campus, I fell in love. Anything food-related at school can be hit or miss, but Yogurt World definitely fulfilled my sweet tooth craving. First of all, it's not that big, but there is seating inside, as well as tables outside. I decided to sit inside to enjoy my froyo as I did homework. There is only one size, but there are a variety of different bowls that are aesthetically pleasing. This place in general is cute--the wallpaper, especially. There are a variety of flavors! My favorite flavors are green tea, Thai tea, and cookies n cream. There aren't very many froyo places that offer green tea and Thai tea, so I was very pleased! I was overwhelmed when it came to toppings. Yogurt World had the typical candy, nuts, cookie kind of toppings, as well as fruits and chocolate syrup and caramel sauces. What I fell in love with is the fact that they have mochi! There are very minimal froyo places with mochi I feel (in San Diego, at least). I'm a frequent visitor at YogurtWorld because froyo is accessible on campus without having to bus, and when I'm craving something cold and sweet I get HANGRY if I don't get what I want! There is not a "set" that I always get-I usually try different flavors! Some flavors that I've tried include: mint, thai tea, mountain berry, green tea tart, Hawaiian sorbet, red velvet, plain tart, vanilla custard, chocolate custard, California strawberry, sweet taro, vanilla chai, sweet azuki (red bean), sweet caramel with salted pretzels, lemon meringue, cookies' n cream, black sesame, mountain berry, toffee cookie gelato (or something along that line), matcha green tea and much more! Pros: -Great service! This place is student friendly and somewhat student run. The bosses are busy in the back, and so the students are super approachable. The bosses are nice too! -Awesome toppings! I love that they cater (unintentionally?) to the Asian crowd. Mochi, condensed milk, sweet red bean, popping boba...and SO MUCH MORE other "traditional" toppings. There is something here for everyone! If you try to come thinking you won't add anything....you'll be proven wrong. Cons: -Consistency of froyo is meh. I've never really had the "real" froyo like Pinkberry, but then once I had Yogurtland (near UTC) I was mindblown that Froyo wasn't always so watery? After coming back to try YogurtWorld, some flavors had a better consistency (sorbet, tart) than others (matcha green tea). Tips/Observations: -$0.43 per ounce of froyo! Overall, this is definitely a great place to come satisfy your cravings! They open pretty late on weekdays (11 PM?! Heck yah!) I wish they have a rewards program though! read more

froyo + Asian influenced flavors = WIN. This has been the only frozen yogurt place I've been to that consistently has at least 2 Asian flavors, such as Japanese matcha green tea or sweet taro yogurt, on display and sale. As well as these delicious flavors, this place has some pretty awesome regular flavors as well- like pineapple sorbet and yummy tart! A bit fearful to commit to dunking mysterious yogurt into your cup? NO PROBLEM- this place has little sampling cups so you can take a little nibble and either LOVE IT (which is most of the time) or not so much love it. It's hard to resist the temptation to make my occasional yogurtworld(/republic, as my friends call it) run a daily ritual. They have the cutest wallpaper, lots of yummy flavors and an amazing variety of toppings. Original tart + green tea tart are still my favorite, although I enjoy their rich cappuccino flavor as well. The flavors are quite unique! I have never had dulce de leche froyo, and this is one of my favorite ice cream flavors. So I got some of this along with red velvet froyo, and on top of the froyo were cheesecake bites, brownie bites, and mochi. I was dying to eat it even before paying for it! I sat down and took a spoonful that had a little of everything in my froyo, and the rush of satisfaction went through my entire body. It was really sweet froyo, but I love that. I finished my entire cup clean, and it was so good that I wanted more. I had a huge urge to go get another cup of froyo, but I didn't. For sure going to get more froyo in my cup next time! I don't really go all out when it comes to yogurt places. I'm fine just getting some tart yogurt and putting some fruit, granola, nuts, and jellies or mochi in it. Yogurt World isn't amazing, but it isn't bad either. It's always crowded in the afternoon because of the lunch rush - so it'll be difficult to walk around. It also might be messy, which means it will be sticky. There are always those people who grab their sample cup, fill it up again and again, then just leave. There are also those people who hold up the line because they're loading their cups with everything that catches their eye (the chocolate rocks are really cool though). The people who work there are really laidback. The pricing is fine as well. The consistency of their yogurt isn't... consistent. You might get yogurt that's too icy/hard. You might get yogurt that's too melty and drippy (I get this often), but it's fine, I don't really mind. I scarf down my yogurt before it turns into soup anyway. This branch of yogurt world is smaller than the rest, but it's definitely a lot cuter/more hip. They offer the same flavs as the others, with some minor differences. And their toppings, from the graham cracker to the candy to the cereal to the fresh fruit... it's all delicious and a fun way to spruce up your yogurt cup. It's nice that campus finally has a yogurt place for students and staff to frequent :) I also love how they give you as many sample cups as you want. Very watery yogurt to be honest--super let down by the quality. Also they only have one size cup and they don't have a bathroom to use how inconvenient is that?! I had to hike up all those stairs to use the bathroom over by Burger King. Not in the sense of "O I'm gonna save the world by buying a hybrid and smelling my own fart to reduce carbon emissions", it's in the sense of "I'm fucking angry and I'm gonna Hulk the shit out of this place in rage!!!" With only two quarters remaining in college...UCSD is now home to Yogurt World!!! I'm giving it 5 stars because having Yogurt World just made our campus look really bad ass! The work they have done to expand the UCSD Price Center has been breath taking. I can't believe I'm graduating! Okay I'm done complaining...lets talk a bit more about the place itself! This Yogurt World is tiny and built kinda weird. There is only one entrance...and you walk down this tight little area just to get to the other end where the cups are located. I wasn't here when it was crowded, but I can only imagine how uncomfortable it may be. They had their usual flavors and toppings. The only problem I had was with the mango topping. It was mushy and didn't look very good at all. So I just passed up on that. I think the fruits taste better at the off campus locations. it's .38 cents per oz...which everyone knows will add up quickly. I heard there is a discount if you use the styrofoam (how do you spell that?) cup instead of their pretty little cups. Plenty of seating inside and out. If you can't find seating there, you have a bunch of other places nearby to sit. I just like the idea of having Yogurt World on campus because I can brag about it to my friends. First of all, Yelp is amazing because I had NO idea I could review a campus-based restaurant! That's just awesome! And secondly, I am forever grateful to UCSD for establishing a frozen yogurt place smack in the middle of campus. It has been an established treat of mine for so long now that without it, the homesickness would be harder to shake off. It's little traditions like going to frozen yogurt that make me feel like I am right back at home....which is only 3 hours away, but for sentimentality's sake, work with me now! One thing that is very surprising about this place is the variety of toppings! I also like how the sweet topping are set up: little clear drawers with a knob you can pull down, like the drawers in a candy store. Several different syrups, various candies and chocolates and many fresh fruits and fruit jellies make up the myriad of toppings that are available for selection at Yogurt World. I also think the yogurt selections are balanced as far as tasting pallette goes. From traditional vanilla and chocolate (which are actually custards so the texture is slightly thicker but still enjoyable), to sweet taro and green coconut (I am fascinated with the taste of the latter especially, since I would never have been able to guess "green coconut" as the flavor), this place has a very cultured (no pun intended) selection of yogurt. Though I keep waiting for them to change up a couple of flavors soon. Or maybe I am just going there a little bit too often. This is a campus facility that I could see lasting for a very long time. And rightfully it should. And the day that Dining Dollars can be used to buy yogurt is the day when Karila the yogurtician begins her all-frozen-yogurt diet! The Yogurt Worlds in Mira Mesa and Kearny Mesa have wider selections of flavors. Taro in particular, is what I really miss when I came here on opening day. But my beloved plain tart was pretty baller, as was the selection of fresh fruit. That made me happy. I like how hip and clean this place is. I end up a few times a year at UCSD, but recently I discovered that next to the new expansion of the Price Center (wtf did they do to the Price Center?!), they put in a Yogurt World - similar to the one on Convoy, and also similar to University City's Forbidden Yogurt. The layout in this one is a little cramped - you walk in, and have to walk to the back to pick up a cup and then walk to the front filling it up. Perhaps it's a space issue, or perhaps they don't trust UCSD students as much, having the registers by the door... anyway, the concept is great - get a cup, fill it up yourself with all the tasty flavors of yogurt you want. add all the toppings - dry, sauce, and fruit you want. then weigh it and pay by the ounce. This past Tuesday i went - and scored big time! I found a $5 bill on the ground inside the shop which paid for my yogurt! If you want to enjoy your yogurt with friends, chances are that you'll have to enjoy it outside, since there's not a lot of dining space in this place. unfortunately, UCSD is sometimes chilly, so eating yogurt outside makes you cold! My favorite combos: getting all fruit flavors (strawberry, pineapple, raspberry and getting fruit on top) or going all chocolate goodness (chocolate, peanut butter, etc. with cocoa puffs and caramel sauce) i've often wondered what would happen if you priced out a topping to be more than 38 cents an ounce, and just filled up a cup with that topping and tried to buy it. but i leave that to someone else to answer this quest. while the store is wheelchair accessible (no steps without ramped cuts), if i were in a regular wheelchair, using the yogurt dispensers and getting toppings would be a pain in the butt - a lot of those things are pretty high up. read more

Alright, I came here again because I was craving some fro-yo, and this place actually isn't that bad. Maybe it's cause I tried another fro-yo place in Solana Beach, which wasn't as good, or maybe they just got that much better. The Thai Tea, this time, wasn't so great though. Azuki Red Bean: I finally got to try! Super super good. It tastes exactly like red bean--like an ice cream form of red bean but tastes exactly like it. Simply delicious. I should have replaced the Thai Tea with this. Definitely give this a try! Plain Tart: still as good as ever. Honestly really comparable to Yogurtland's plain tart, which is a feat in my opinion. Nice and tart, but pairs so well with my favorite ingredients (cheesecake bites, mochi, and strawberries--yum!!) Caramel with Salted Pretzel: I gave this a try. I guess it's going for a salted caramel type of taste. Way too salty for me. I'm not a particular fan of the salt flavor, so I didn't like this. If you like salted caramel, perhaps you'll like this, but it didn't suit me. The toppings were really fresh when I got them too! The mochi was nice and chewy, cheesecake bites weren't crusty, strawberries were plump and red. Couldn't have asked for a better way to satisfy my fro-yo craving, especially when I'm stuck on campus. OHHHHhhhhhhh mannnn... I got the peanut butter yogurt like I ALWAYS do at yogurt places and I wanted to scrape my tongue off after the first bite. It was horrible. So bitter. Maybe it was just a bad batch... but... that ain't right. However, Yogurt World does have a wider variety of toppings that Yogurt Land which is nice. It seems to be more organized, too. Will I return? Probably not to this location. There is, however, a Yogurt World near my house that my cousin recommended I try.
