I believe this corner suite at The Shops at La Jolla Village used to be the home of a cellular phone carrier. An upscale gelato shop, Bacio Di Latte, is now the current tenant despite the fact that a popular ice cream shop was just around the bend in the same part of the plaza. The chain has become a rapidly expanding business with two locations in SD County and several more throughout the Southern California region. For a frozen dessert place, they did have quite a bit of seating with about a dozen small round tables scattered across the room. Nearly two dozen gelato flavors were on display next to the service counter. You could request taste samples as I did during my visit. Some cookies and other baked goods were also displayed in a case next to the register. Three gelato serving sizes were available along with three different kinds of vessels (cup, waffle cone, sugar cone). You could request split flavors within each serving size which was what I did. The Blueberry & Ricotta was a new flavor so I chose that and the Strawberry Cheesecake for my small (piccolo) cup. Both fruits were quite sweet as expected while the gelato base was smooth and creamy. The prices were a bit higher and the portions were smaller than what you can get from local ice cream shops. I guess at the end of the day, you're paying a premium for a premium product.
BEST GELATO IN SD! I have yet to visit Europe, but I'm assuming Bacio Di Latte is as authentic as it gets. Sooo many great flavors and the opportunity to sample them. I tried the pistachio chocolate crunch, pistachio, torta paradiso, bacio di latte, blueberry ricotta, and tiramisu. The flavor and texture of each are top tier. I got 2 flavors in a cone that was dipped in pistachio cream (aka liquid-ish gold). 10/10! Also tried the oatmeal lace cookie with maple cream. Definitely coming back!
I was really excited to see a new gelato shop open in this plaza and the store is really aesthetic, but unfortunately the gelato was just alright imo. I really like hazelnut, and I got 2 hazelnut flavors so the taste itself was pretty yummy, but the issue was that the gelato was wayyyy too melted even right when it was served. I wish it was a lot more frozen. Also it is really pricey for the small portion size. The small was almost $10 :/ Also, if you get a waffle cone, you can only get 1 flavor in the small versus 2 in a cup. Nice to try for the first time tho, and they let you sample the flavors!
Been wanting to try this gelato place and all I can say is it's so good! Their gelato was very sweet and flavorful and I ordered the iced cappuccino and it was perfect match with it! I can't wait to be back and try other flavors Service was very good too :)

Crowded even at 9pm . Very friendly staff even though there's a crowd and the line moves fast. It smells so good in here, lots of seating inside and outside. Ice cream is on the melty side, I really like the crunch in the ice cream being distributed evenly as they scoop

Yum! Loved this new spot! Sampled the chocolate chip, mint chip and lastly carmel with peanut butter and chocolate. Mmmmmm, all so good! I decided on the small with mint and peanut butter/carmel/chocolate. Loved the latter!!! The taste and texture, amazing!! My mom paid but it was slightly expensive but worth it! The staff was very kind, the place was very clean and has a restroom and there was a good amount of people there coming in and out.
Many ice cream and gelato spots have opened up in the area over the last five years but Bacio Di Latte is a pleasant addition. The double scoop and cone were worth it as they really packed it on there. There's many flavors to choose from so there's something for everyone.
Ugh this place is so good. Get the belga gelato . It's like a party in the mouth. Cute location. Fast service.
This cutesy gelato shop is one of a kind. It offers unique flavors that I haven't seen elsewhere. When you're inside, it has a warm, charming and inviting atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They offer you samples to help you make your selections. I was blown away by the high-quality fresh ingredients of my Liana's Shortcake...sooo deliciously rich and creamy yet crunchy. Mmmmm!! Oooh yeah, I will definitely be back. This is my third location of Bacio Di Latte that I visited throughout California. And I can tell you that there is quality consistency from one location to the next. Each location offers a solid experience with great staff and a high-quality product that you will be glad that you stopped in for. The gelato is so fresh, as its made daily. And the choices are plentiful and all of them sound so yummy that its hard to just pick one- thus make sure you sample to truly get appreciation of the array of flavors that they offer. The ambiance is light and bright! The shop is super clean and well organized to provide a good flow in around the shop. This location has only been opened for a month, so if you need a bit of sweetness, come out and try. There is a big parking lot in front but during the holidays the area can be quite busy.
They had really good service. I think the staff was very patient in letting us test out a few gelato. I ended up gettting pistachio dipped waffle cone with salted caramel and pistachio gelato. My partner got hazelnut and coffee one. The gelato was good but my only complaint is that it melt so fast. It started dripping when they hand it to me. It's been awhile since I got gelato so this hit the spot. The pistachio cream that they dipped the waffle cone with is pretty delicious. Place seems pretty popular with a constant inflow of customers. I'm glad they were open late.
I love Bacio Di Latte and think the location, flavors, and price beat their competitor in UTC. Parking in La Jolla Village can be challenging during the lunch hour but it's free and there are ample spots if you come off hours. The price is cheaper than Venchi in UTC and flavors are comparable along with a cup or cone dipped in hazelnut chocolate or pistachio cream and nuts. I ordered a small and had a hazelnut lovers dream with two flavors : Crema Torino and Giandujotto. They were both creamy, nutty, rich but well balanced, and so delicious! Service was outstanding and they were super helpful and let us sample a couple of flavors. There are tables inside and out and tables in the square if you want to take it away from the store itself. Their affogato was very popular when we went but we opted just to get gelato straight up. Their cookies looked outstanding too so that'll be for next time. read more

I've never been to Flower Hill Promenade, but it was an enjoyable time. There was lots of parking available. My aunt recommended Bacio di Latte to me, saying it became one of her favorite gelato spots. I had to come try it out! First look, it's very clean and pretty. The interior was great, but they could open up the space with more seating if they took away the thick border edge around the windows. I thought it was interesting how they had +5 security cameras in the shop as well. The gelatos were all so vibrant and delicious looking. I made sure to taste a sorbet flavor, the raspberry, it had great tart flavor and not icy at all. Next time I'd try more flavors, although I wasn't sure how many was ok to taste. In the end, I ordered Pistachio Gelato on a Waffle Cone. The waffle cone was delicious and it had a slight amaretto or almond? flavor to it. It reminded me of pizzelle. The pistachio gelato was reminiscent of salted pistachios. It was fresh, smooth, and flavor was spot on. Tasted real and not artificial in any way! I really enjoyed it. However, the price was on the expensive side. They use real ingredients and make it fresh everyday which is great to hear. The cookies looked delicious in the case, the price however was not justified. The cookie is thin and the $6 price was just insane. I tried the chocolate chip one which had great dark chocolate notes. And I had the oat lace covered in chocolate with maple cream sandwiched inside. That one I was excited for but it was really disappointing. It tasted borderline burnt & the maple interior was very oily. I've had better chocolate lace cookies from Trader Joe's. Overall, I'd recommend the gelato & sorbets if you want to splurge on a dessert! They also had affogatos if that's your thing. read more

If you're craving ice cream and especially authentic GELATO, Bacio di Latte in La Jolla is absolutely the place to experience. Their gelato is made fresh daily with the finest ingredients, and you can truly taste the quality in every bite. There are so many delectable flavors to choose from, but I decided on the Strawberry Cheesecake in a pistachio cone and oh my goodness... it was heaven. So creamy, so smooth, and perfectly sweet, and honestly one of the best gelatos I've ever had. Yes, it is on the pricier side, but the flavor and freshness make it worth every penny. The atmosphere is just as charming as the gelato. Inside feels like a sweet little Italian kitchen with adorable décor and vintage-style Italian photos lining the walls. You can enjoy your treat at the cute tables outside or relax indoors, and they serve coffee, too! It truly feels like a taste of Italy right in La Jolla. If you love gelato, don't walk... RUN. SWEEEETTTTT!!!! So happy!!! Was looking for dinner, found GELATO -LOLOL! Yes they're new, yes they're sparkly and clean, but best of all...they offer excellent friendly service with quality products! Not only did she let me try different flavors, she recommended her favorites, and BINGO she nailed it! Trying to decide if I should have dinner now or go back for seconds, quagmire. Giandujotto -rich chocolatey delicious Cioccolato Belga -can't go wrong Belgian Caffe & Caramellatte -My favorite coffee Tiramisu -slight crunch Chocolate Pistacchio Crunch -more chocolate than pistachio Pistacchio -Another favorite! Great taste!! Make sure you dip your cup or cone in Pistachio creme. Definitely brings out the flavor of the ice cream. They're NOT cheap, but quality is worth it. A little pricey but THE BEST GELATO hands down. Staff help with little taste testers to help you decide. The affogato is very nicely presented: you get to pour your own espresso. Not a lot of seating options inside but worth the visit and wait. Flavors are all delicious. An equal mix of families and couples on dates, the evening we went. If you like gelato and ice cream you will love it here. read more
What an indulgence!!! This place is a problem. So glad I have to drive 25mins to get to it or it would be a deliciously bad habit! Sarah took my partner and I on a flavor tour and we loved absolute everything. As the manager, she was extremely knowledgeable about the flavors and processes used to make the gelato, something my partner and I appreciated. It was hard to choose what we wanted in our cone. Somehow she convinced us to get 3 flavors each in a bowl....I did not need three scoops of ice cream but couldn't argue with the manager - it was definitely worth it!!! Everything here, especially the sorbet flavors, are made with love and simple, high quality ingredients you can actually taste. I wish I was a spokesperson so you could be like "she's getting paid to say this".....no. This spot is legit. And the product sells itself. Enough talking. Go get you some gelato!! read more

From the moment we walked in, the experience was fantastic. The lady at the counter was incredibly kind and patient with my party of four while we debated our choices and sampled flavors. She never rushed us and made the whole process genuinely enjoyable. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with any flavor here. Every single one I tried was rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced, which somehow made choosing even harder. I ended up getting the holiday biscotti and hazelnut (the full hazelnut, not the hazelnut-chocolate) with pistachio cream. It was insanely good. The hazelnut was deep and nutty, the biscotti added a warm, cozy flavor, and the pistachio cream tied everything together with a smooth, indulgent finish. Every bite was luxurious and satisfying without being too heavy. Someone else in my group ordered the matcha affogato and couldn't stop raving about it--they highly recommend it as well! Bacio Di Latte is a new gelato place that just opened up in the La Jolla area and all I can say is wow. Upon walking in, I was amazed at the variety of flavors that they had on display and the staff were very kind with letting me try all of the flavors that I wanted! The cream-based flavors were very decadent and the sorbets truly tasted like the fruit itself. The store has both indoor and outdoor seating with plenty of tables for those looking for a nice area to study in as well. I will definitely be back to try more flavors that Bacio Di Latte has to offer and give their coffee a try as well. Come here if you're looking for a yummy dessert! read more

Clean, modern, quality. Beautiful relatively new gelateria/coffee shop at Villa La Jolla shopping center. Exudes quality. I went there after having some tacos at nearby rubios and ordered a capuccino. It was delicious but only the price is a bit too much $6.50. very comfortable seatings and super cute tables. I will try the gelatos next time. Today I got a sample of pistachio one and was very rich and great taste. read more

Opening day (10/30/2025): What a pleasant, uplifting, delicious experience!!! The staff was very helpful and delightful. The gelato as at the perfect temperature, ideal firmness, with appealing presentation. Our server was very helpful and checked up on us as we sat and ate our gelato. Got a Piccolo Belgian Chocolate and Pistachio. Chocolate is rich and pistachio is nutty, not too sweet! The sweetest thing was the service. A kind young woman with a white headband served me around 7:00pm Wednesday, April 29th. I didn't get a name but it's always nice when your server works with a big smile. New gelato spot in La Jolla village. It's right next to Nordstrom Rack. It's in a very busy shopping plaza. They give samples if you want to try some flavors. The gelato is pricey but it's very smooth and creamy. I always get pistachio. It's always a classic gelato flavor. I do like that in the gelato there are chunks of real pistachio nuts. The waffle cones look really good too. read more

Great gelato spot! I tried a few samples which were all good and decided on the fragola (strawberry sorbet) and crema & biscotti (cookies and cream). Both flavors were delicious. The strawberry sorbet was fresh, not overly sweet or tart, and you can really taste the strawberry. The cookies and cream was nicely sweet and I enjoyed the crunchy cookie pieces inside. Lots of gelato options and friendly service. Clean, cute and bright inside with a good amount of tables. I would be back! read more

Very pretty and brand-new gelateria in the La Jolla Village market place near UTC. The display of gelatos is gorgeous with all of the bright colors on full display. Prices are a bit high, but the rent is expensive, so not out of line. The do offer a couple of dairy-free options, which is great, although they were a bit too sweet for my palate. But who doesn't love gelato! read more
