came on a saturday around 4pm with a party of 3 and there was no wait! inside is cozy and clean, staff was very kind and helpful. priced great for the portions. definitely a great katsu spot if you're in the area!
I was looking for a katsu place around OC and stumbled upon this one! My friend and I shared the dipping soba and the cheese pork katsu. The dipping soba broth was SOOO GOOD and flavorful. I would 100% get the soba again. I also really liked their pickled jalapenos. Unfortunately, I didn't really like the cheese pork katsu that much. I think they used american or cheddar cheese, but I wished they used mozzarella instead. Also, there wasn't much pork, and I don't really like cheese a whole lot. I want to come back to try some of their other katsu options! It was a pretty small store, but we came at an off hour so we were able to get seated right away :)
Long overdue review for one of my family's regular katsu spots in the area. We've been coming here for quite a while, and the experience has always been consistently good. The staff is always attentive, friendly, and quick with service, which makes dining with kids much easier. The katsu is crispy and cooked well every time, and it's one of my kids' favorite places to eat. Portions are solid, the food comes out fast, and the overall atmosphere is casual and family friendly. Definitely recommend for families with kids looking for a reliable and satisfying meal.
We are back today. I craved Yoko Katsu and Udon combo for a while. I planned to go there early for lunch at 11 and I got there around 11:15 without waiting. Nothing was changed. Just the price was raised up. Here lots of take out orders all the time. Busy busy to prepare take out orders, pick up by customers when I eat here. Our first test order, my hubby chose the pork cheese katsu. Mine was Udon, pork katsu combo. The qualities, flavors, service, and prices are all 5 stars. I recommended this spot for 100 best restaurants in OC on Yelp in the past but they didn't choose it unfortunately. But I love Yoko katsu restaurant. Katsu itself is super crunchy, fresh deep fried, the dipping sauce is so rich, dark, real Japanese style sauce, and side cabbage salad is so fresh. I like their jalapeno pickles a lot. The combo menu, udon is the best w pork katsu or chicken. The broth is so flavorful, the noodles are so chewy, real udon texture, garnish kamaboko, fried Tofu, and mugwort herbs are really tasty, well balanced. It made me relaxed, gave me homey feeling cooked by my mom at home. My hubby liked the test order for cheese pork katsu. He said let's come here again...haha. Vibes are here very casual, space is not too tiny but limited. The parking is enough but sometimes filled quickly on weekend. I can't wait to taste more katsu w cold Soba noodles next time. It is getting hot that is why. Thanks for complementary cabbage salad w side pickles, radish kimchi, and salad dressing.
Rude and Unprofessional Server My food was left on the counter for about 15 minutes because no one called me to let me know it was ready. When I complained and asked why they didn't call me, the server told me that I should have come back and checked myself. That is not the kind of service I expect from a restaurant. It seems like the server was not properly trained, and his attitude was extremely rude and unprofessional. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a server. I do not recommend this place.
TLDR - Food is good, service is good, parking is plentiful, would recommend. Small little restaurant in Buena Park that serves tonkatsu. The interior is small and very homey while the food is even better. The Tonkatsu is crispy yet light and the soba is nothing to make fun of either. I love the sides that this place gives as it REALLY cuts the greasiness of all the fried food
Amazingly great katsu!!! Super super crunchy, high quality, the dark dipping sauce w ground sesame seeds for Katsu is really good. My wife and I got back here. Nothing changed. Only prices are up. I chose pork cheese katsu for the first time. My wife had the same one, pork katsu w udon. Wow.... So tasty! Fresh, flavorful! My wife likes jalapeño pickles, udon broth w katsu. Same taste, same owner, same interior w casual vibes. Parking is already filled on Sat. Safe area to park. Located to the entrance of golf couse. Lots of take out orders always. Busy busy.... I like eat here to eat hot deep fried katsu than soggy. Today my wife and I were so full and left happy w leftover too. I recommended here as best Japanese Katsu restaurant in OC.
Visited this place on a Sunday around 1pm. We waited about 10-15minutes as there was a line. The plaza has enough free parking spaces. The owner was very welcoming. We were initially seated on a small table but he offered to move us to a bigger table as soon as it opened up. I got chicken katsu with soba combo and my husband got a pork katsu with soba combo. It came with friend shrimp and potato ball. The cabbage salad dressing was very yummy. Katsus were well fried. I would say the portion is pretty big as I brought some leftover katsu home. Overall, the foods were good but what I was most impressed was the owner's service. Even though it was a very busy environment the owner was very attentive.
Been coming to here for well over a decade, and the food has always been consistently good!! The portions are generous, and it's still one of my go-to spots for katsu. We get to grind the sesame seeds ourselves before the katsu sauce is added. The sides help balance out the fried protein. Service is always quick, friendly, and accommodating. There can be a wait during peak lunch/dinner hours, but it usually moves fast. Def worth a visit if you haven't tried it yet!
Ordered the chicken katsu & pork katsu combo! Overall, I'd give it a 4/5. Service was great, and the food itself was pretty good, but the soba was definitely the highlight, so refreshing and perfect for this hot weather!
PARKING (4/5): This lot gets really busy because it shares with a K SPA. I had to circle the lot 3 times before a spot opened up on a weekday at lunchtime. FOOD (4/5): It's perfectly crispy and made fresh! I usually just get their DONKATSU, but today wanted to try the KIMCHEE CHEESE KATSU. It says (Pork) next to it, but I honestly couldn't see any meat, mostly just cheese & kimchee. All KATSU'S come with sesame seeds that you grind yourself and they will add katsu sauce to it to dip your katsu. Grind as much or as little as you like! I like to make mine almost a powder because I can smell and taste the sesame seeds so much more. $25 KIMCHEE CHEESE KATSU: it's VERY cheesy and fun to try once, but I'd prefer the regular meat ones with more protein! OVERALL (4/5): Still love this place and will always come back! Their to go boxes look so pretty, but I always like eating at the restaurant when the food is the freshest! I will eventually try a to go box.
The soba is so delicious. I usually order the regular donkatsu combo with soba and share w/ wifey. We love the sesame seed grinding and sauce! We ordered tempura udon and it got little soggy. The tempura could be served to the side
Personally, I love the way the katsu is done here. The pork was thin, flavorful, and had a great crunchy texture. I don't love cabbage, and they were able to substitute it with some extra rice which was very accommodating of them. This restaurant can get a little busy, but it is worth the wait!
Oh my goodness, I'm so full! Their menu is simple but with a variety of katsu choices, my husband and I tried for our first visit the chicken katsu and cheese kimchi katsu. Both are served with small side dishes, miso soup, and dipping sauces. The service is quick and the staff is hardworking. Our waiter was great at making reservations and there's plenty of small seating for couples on a date night. Will visit and take friends to try. Plenty of parking too. read more

I have ordered Pork Katsu and wow it was very goood. Food came out quick and price was fair only hard thing was looking for parking lot. Other than that, everything was fantastic :) also nice decoration of Christmas read more
Great spot for katsu and soba! The donkatsu combo is very worth and portions are huge. The soba noodles are refreshing and pairs well with the crispy katsu! They also give you potato croquette and shrimp tempura in addition to your pork/chicken katsu. We went right when it opened at 11 am and around 12 pm there was already a wait, so take note of the lines! It also seems like a great place for take-out :) read more

TL;DR - super good katsu place! 4.5/5 FOOD: *donkatsu - super crunchy and delicious! i loved the potato and shrimp tempera that came with it (i'm not sure if it comes with every combo or they just added it on there to be nice haha). i liked all the side dishes as well like the pickled jalapenos, kimchi, and miso soup. 5/5 *crunch roll - we chose the crunch roll as the combo option. it was pretty good! crunch rolls aren't usually my thing but it was tasty and my friend who i shared the combo with loves crunch rolls and loved it. 4/5 SERVICE: there was only one server at the time my friends and i came so it was a bit hard for them to keep up with everyone. despite that, they tried their best bouncing between order pickups and the dining room customers. 4.5/5 WAIT: this is where a half a star goes out for me because it did take awhile for our orders to be taken. considering it was only one server for everyone in the dining room, it's not too big of a deal but it is smth to note. the server tried his best to keep up with everyone though which is appreciated. 4/5 PRICE: the total was around $25, including tax and tip, for a donkatsu combo. super good price especially considering this was shared between two people! 5/5 THINGS TO NOTE: *plenty of parking in the plaza lot read more

The ambiance here is very casual and beaware. Staff will assume you speak Korean, lol. We came on a Thursday afternoon for lunch. We tried the Donkatsu Combo with Crunch Roll and the cheese katsu. The donkatsu combo came with the pork, a potato ball, and shrimp. We ordered 2 sides of rice as well. The katsu were crispy and came out quickly. I didn't really care much for the crunch roll. The rice was way overcooked. The cheese katsu seems somewhat gimicky as the cheese was melted but somehow cold when it came to us. They serve the katsu with a huge portion of salad on the side, pickled jalapeno, and spicy radish. Overall, it was a good experience. Walking into the restaurant, on a Thursday - 7pm, it was busy. So you know it was good. The restaurant is small, but people aren't too close from you. The servers were really quick and nice. As we were eating, we were actually the last ones in the restaurant. We didn't know that they close at 9pm. They were nice about telling us that they need to close lol. The food was so good. Love coming here. The chicken katsu/udon combo is my go to. Idk if their banchan is home made but my goodness, does it compliment their food well. Staff are super friendly ! If you don't want to wait through the long queues yo eat there, it's great take out as well. Best takeout presentation for a casual restaurant, ever. Proper boxing, great utensil and napkin quality. Pricing is worth, big portions, and big flavors. Enjoy! read more

i've been to Yoko many times and it's always so good i brought my bf here for his first time and we both got combos i got the kimchi cheese katsu w udon and my bf got the regular chicken katsu everything was so good as always and i highly recommend this place to anyone who wants some dank ass korean japanese katsu cus they have great service and great food read more
5/31/23 - We were seated right away and they gave each of us a cup of sesame to grind for the sauce for our katsus. The inside was clean and cozy. The food at Yoko is definitely worth the price point! I ordered the combo of donkatsu and udon, and it was so filling that I couldn't even finish it. Because the serving sizes of the combos and katsu dishes are so big, I would recommend sharing between two people. But if you both are really hungry and want to go for it, getting separate dishes can be a good and filling option. I definitely want to go again to order the cheesekatsu! read more
Yoko is a must-go! We went around 1pm and within a couple of minutes, we were seated at our table. As we were seated, we got a bowl of sesame seeds that you ground yourself. Then, they add this sweet, savory sauce to the powder you make. I ordered the Cheesekatsu and I wasn't expecting such a large portion at first, but it came with a lot! There was a bowl of miso soup, bowl of rice, and two banchan sides. For a person with a big appetite such as myself, this definitely hit the spot and I was beyond satisfied. The interior of the restaurant was unique, sporting various kinds of vintage photos and art pieces. It's located in a plaza which had lots of parking-- definitely a place to come back to! read more
Been trying to find the perfect katsu place so I tried this place to see if it's any good. I like that it's located close by to me. The price is also very good for the value that you get. When we first got seated the server didn't really tell us where to go and pointed in the general direction rather quickly. I let it slide since it was pretty busy and the place was not really big. After taking our orders though, they immediately gave us a mortar and pestle to grind our sesame seeds. We found this to be a nice touch for our food but we were going to wait until our food came out to grind them. Little did we know they were going to take it away before we could even grind our seeds. There was zero communication in that regard when it was our first time here. Other than that, we just proceeded to eat our food and it was pretty hefty. They gave a crazy amount of items with the pork katsu and cheese I ordered. The cheese was definitely pulling which was nice to see. I will say though that the crust on the katsu is crunchy but not the crunchiest one I've ever had. The salad is literally the size of the katsu and I definitely don't mind that. The sauce complements the katsu pretty well and the miso soup was warm and delicious. I wouldn't mind coming back now that I know how to eat here but would be nice to get that communication from the server. read more
Yoko is a great place to come for delicious katsu in Northern Orange County. The interior is small and cozy, mom n' pop -esque. It was already a big plus that they accommodated our big party of 10 with such limited seating. The ladies who served us were very attentive and kind. They got everyone's orders right and did not miss a beat. I ordered the beef donkatsu combo with udon. The portions were gigantic! Enough for two, even. Everything was delicious. read more
Katsu has always been one of those things that you can order at many places and everyone makes it different. From restaurants that are Hawaiian, Japanese, and Korean, they all have their version. Yoko was highly recommended by a friend, so I had to give it a try. I ordered the Donkatsu combo with the soba noodles. The katsu is definitely on top of my list now. Very lightly fried as to not have that old,oil-ly flavor and a very moist and tender pork cutlet. Yoko's homemade katsu sauce is one of a kind. From other yelper's videos, Yoko used to give you a bowl of sesame seeds that you crush and then they add the katsu sauce, but due to the pandemic, they can no longer do that. A bit of a drive for me, but this place is worth a 30 minute Foodie road trip drive. read more

Came with a lot when I ordered the donkatsu plate. Very generous portion of salad, some kimchi radish and pickled veggies, rice, miso soup, and donkatsu dipping sauce. For the sauce, they give you toasted sesame seeds that you grind on your own! Then they pour over with the sauce, which gives the sauce a more sesame flavor. My partner ordered the combo version with soba noodles. The noodles were nice and chewy, but the dipping sauce was a little bland. Service was good. We were seated and served right away. Ambiance is also good. It's a tiny spot tucked in the corner of a plaza. Very clean and a decent amount of seating! read more

Stumbled upon this place because of the high ratings on Yelp! It's a small restaurant but their service is quick so the turn around is pretty fast. Menu is simple, easy to choose from. I got the donkatsu and it's probably the best I've had! The pork was so juicy and tender it was delicious. Note that the entrees come with rice but I think the combo doesn't because it comes with other sides! The entree came with miso soup, their sauce, pickled onions and radish with a side of rice. My favorite go to place for Korean katsu! The kimchi cheesekatsu is my go to, Great ratio of katsu,cheese,kimchi and sauce! Service is consistent and wait times are never too busy! Takeout is always an option if anything. Lots of parking so it's not hard to find parking. read more

Had a craving for soba, and even though this is more of a katsu place, there is soba on the menu! It was a pretty hot day so the soba was very cool and refreshing. The dip was pretty simple but still flavorful. The crunch roll was also good with a sweet soy sauce and crunchy texture (as expected with its name). I finished everything by myself. My friends got the chicken katsu and the cheese pork katsu. Both fillings were juicy with a breading so crisp you could hear the crunch. Grinding the sesame seeds for the sauce is a good distraction while waiting for the food and is oddly satisfying. The staff was also very sweet - we were seated and served very quickly. Pretty pretty pretty pretty good. I got the katsu and soba noodle combo for $20. It was a pretty big serving and left me satisfied. Although I wish the combo came with a small bowl of rice...like come on man! The soba noodles were the best I've ever had tho tbh. Good menu selection as well. Lots of generous combos to choose. The service is good, they are kind and patient which I appreciate bc I went here with some non Korean friends. The ambiance of this place during December is awesome, they got a revolving Christmas tree and a bunch of cute decorations everywhere. Very homey feeling. However, the location is incredibly tiny so it can feel very packed, very quickly. Somehow my group of 5 got lucky and we snuck in to a nice table. read more

Tried their donkatsu combo with udon. Udon broth had a weird sweet aftertaste - I wasnt expecting that. I prefer a cleaner tasting udon broth. The location is in a small plaza - kinda hard to find parking during rush hours: It seems like their menu changed - I was looking for tonkatsu with curry but they dont offer that anymore. The donkatsu itself was crispy - the meat a little dry. Salad was too watery and the dressing was light. The katsu sauce was already packaged in a container. The shrimp and potato croquette was not good. I would say this is average donkatsu - better than what you get at a korean supermarket but not as good as japanese katsu places in torrance/gardena or wako donkatsu in LA. read more

This restaurant is most famous for its fried pork chops, but I'm not a pork chop lover myself, and I rarely order pork chops in Japanese restaurants, so I can't really compare, but their soba is really AMAZING! Having eaten soba noodles from so many different Japanese restaurants, the way it tastes from here is my favorite. Although it is a bit far from home, I still want to eat it every now and then! I like to put a lot of mashed radish, add a little wasabi, and serve it with super tasty soba noodles. I came in order the same thing for my daughter chicken with udon combo. Togo always came with ride . The lady with the short hair says there is no rice when ordered in the restaurant? Is this true I thought this didn't make sense
I always dine in, and whenever I ask for rice while eating at the restaurant, they do give it to me.
Is the kimchi cheese katsu just kimchi and cheese? Is it possible to get it without meat if it it's not just those two?
It's just kimchi and cheese. There's no meat in it!
Is there update menu?
I don't think they really change their menu. There are permutations of the tonkatsu (chicken/pork) with cheese, kimchee.. Other than that.. It has been the same. I like their simple cabbage salad with the Qewpie mayonnaise sesame seed/miso…
