My boyfriend and I tried the Cheese Katsu with a side of udon and the crunch roll. It def was very filling. I liked how we were given sides of the radishes and jalapenos along with a miso soup for the roll. The cheese katsu was cooked to perfection. I liked how crispy the katsu was and that cheese pull was just wow. It was juicy and so flavorful. The udon was ok in my book. The crunch roll however was really yummy. It was flavorful and crispy. Only downside was that it does fall apart easily. The service was friendly and they were super attentive. It was a 1 man crew, and the only complaint was it took a while to get water refills. We both Ordered the katsu combo for 19.95, which comes with one side (Soba noodles, udon, or sushi) One original katsu with soba noodles and one katsu with curry with side of spicy tuna. I've been coming to yoko over the past 10 years. Hands down one of the best donkatsu in OC. I can say they've been very consistent throughout the years with their flavors and their dishes. The menu hasn't changed at all. Depending on how hungry I get, I usually opt for the combos because it comes with a katsu, a fried potato ball and a fried shrimp on the platter which you would not get any of the latter two in their regular plates. The meals all come with kimchi radish cubes, pickled soy sauce jalapeños, and miso soup. If you get the combo, you don't get rice but if you don't, you do get a bowl of rice. I like to branch out and get their udon, spicy tuna roll, crunch roll or their soba depending on my mood. You honestly can't go wrong with any! You won't be disappointed. Pre-pandemic they used to bring out a bowl of roasted sesame seeds and a pestle so you can crush your seeds while you wait. Servers would then come around and fill the bowl with their katsu sauce. I absolutely loved the flavored of the roasted seeds with the sauce, while not a deterrent from dining with them; however, I really thought it enhanced the flavors so much more. When you walk in the restaurant, you'll notice that it is a smaller location with limited seats. The inside is very cozy and it definitely gives off the "homey" vibes. I ordered their donkatsu combo with the California roll. One thing to note about the combos is that they do not provide you with a bowl of rice with your meal, and you have to order/ask for it separately. When you order the donkatsu, they'll provide you with a small bowl of sesame seeds, which you'll crush with a mortar and pestle yourself (it's pretty fun), and they'll then add in your donkatsu sauce afterwards. The katsu is always perfectly crispy and juicy in the inside, and all of the sides cut into the fried food perfectly! We tried a few things but would definitely go for the dontaksu and cold soba combo again. The portions are generous and you'll definitely be taking leftovers home. My mil and bil loves the Donkatsu here since they use to live in La Mirada. Now them living in Fullerton. It also feels like a place you would go with your family after church (homey cozy wholesome vibes). Keep in mind that the inside has limited seating so during peak hours it might be a long wait. I was desperate for a warm soup, and udon just sounded like the best choice! After searching on Yelp and reading some reviews, I decided to stop by Yoko for udon. The shrimp is coated in a perfectly crispy batter and is a huge size too. The potato ball was really good and crispy. The inside has a similar consistency to mashed potatoes. Crispy chicken katsu!! This was my second time coming back to Yoko and I would definitely come back! I'm not from SoCal so whenever I want katsu I think of yoko! If you are around Buena Park or Orange County I definitely would recommend this spot!
