We are back today. I craved Yoko Katsu and Udon combo for a while. I planned to go there early for lunch at 11 and I got there around 11:15 without waiting. Nothing was changed. Just the price was raised up. Here lots of take out orders all the time. Busy busy to prepare take out orders, pick up by customers when I eat here. Our first test order, my hubby chose the pork cheese katsu. Mine was Udon, pork katsu combo. The qualities, flavors, service, and prices are all 5 stars. I recommended this spot for 100 best restaurants in OC on Yelp in the past but they didn't choose it unfortunately. But I love Yoko katsu restaurant. Katsu itself is super crunchy, fresh deep fried, the dipping sauce is so rich, dark, real Japanese style sauce, and side cabbage salad is so fresh. I like their jalapeno pickles a lot. The combo menu, udon is the best w pork katsu or chicken. The broth is so flavorful, the noodles are so chewy, real udon texture, garnish kamaboko, fried Tofu, and mugwort herbs are really tasty, well balanced. It made me relaxed, gave me homey feeling cooked by my mom at home. My hubby liked the test order for cheese pork katsu. He said let's come here again...haha. Vibes are here very casual, space is not too tiny but limited. The parking is enough but sometimes filled quickly on weekend. I can't wait to taste more katsu w cold Soba noodles next time. It is getting hot that is why. Thanks for complementary cabbage salad w side pickles, radish kimchi, and salad dressing.
Amazingly great katsu!!! Super super crunchy, high quality, the dark dipping sauce w ground sesame seeds for Katsu is really good. My wife and I got back here. Nothing changed. Only prices are up. I chose pork cheese katsu for the first time. My wife had the same one, pork katsu w udon. Wow.... So tasty! Fresh, flavorful! My wife likes jalapeño pickles, udon broth w katsu. Same taste, same owner, same interior w casual vibes. Parking is already filled on Sat. Safe area to park. Located to the entrance of golf couse. Lots of take out orders always. Busy busy.... I like eat here to eat hot deep fried katsu than soggy. Today my wife and I were so full and left happy w leftover too. I recommended here as best Japanese Katsu restaurant in OC.
Been coming to here for well over a decade, and the food has always been consistently good!! The portions are generous, and it's still one of my go-to spots for katsu. We get to grind the sesame seeds ourselves before the katsu sauce is added. The sides help balance out the fried protein. Service is always quick, friendly, and accommodating. There can be a wait during peak lunch/dinner hours, but it usually moves fast. Def worth a visit if you haven't tried it yet!
Visited this place on a Sunday around 1pm. We waited about 10-15minutes as there was a line. The plaza has enough free parking spaces. The owner was very welcoming. We were initially seated on a small table but he offered to move us to a bigger table as soon as it opened up. I got chicken katsu with soba combo and my husband got a pork katsu with soba combo. It came with friend shrimp and potato ball. The cabbage salad dressing was very yummy. Katsus were well fried. I would say the portion is pretty big as I brought some leftover katsu home. Overall, the foods were good but what I was most impressed was the owner's service. Even though it was a very busy environment the owner was very attentive.
Personally, I love the way the katsu is done here. The pork was thin, flavorful, and had a great crunchy texture. I don't love cabbage, and they were able to substitute it with some extra rice which was very accommodating of them. This restaurant can get a little busy, but it is worth the wait!
PARKING (4/5): This lot gets really busy because it shares with a K SPA. I had to circle the lot 3 times before a spot opened up on a weekday at lunchtime. FOOD (4/5): It's perfectly crispy and made fresh! I usually just get their DONKATSU, but today wanted to try the KIMCHEE CHEESE KATSU. It says (Pork) next to it, but I honestly couldn't see any meat, mostly just cheese & kimchee. All KATSU'S come with sesame seeds that you grind yourself and they will add katsu sauce to it to dip your katsu. Grind as much or as little as you like! I like to make mine almost a powder because I can smell and taste the sesame seeds so much more. $25 KIMCHEE CHEESE KATSU: it's VERY cheesy and fun to try once, but I'd prefer the regular meat ones with more protein! OVERALL (4/5): Still love this place and will always come back! Their to go boxes look so pretty, but I always like eating at the restaurant when the food is the freshest! I will eventually try a to go box.
Pretty cool place that lets you grind your own sauce add ons The katsu itself wasn't very memorable, I found the cheese katsu to have the artificial American cheese flavor that was a bit off putting. The cheese also does not stay in the katsu and mainly dripped out of the pork. Would definitely go to Hako instead for their cheese katsu.
We were in the area to visit our family in Fullerton and we were both craving donkatsu so we stopped by Yoko. The restaurant itself is a bit cozy so expect a bit of a wait to be seated but service is efficient and the food came out relatively quickly. While waiting, they bring out a small bowl of sesame seeds for your grind out to fix with their sauce so it was a fun way to kill time. I ordered the pork katsu combo with soba noodles (it was hot that day), which came with cabbage, pickled jalapenos, and radish kimchi. The katsu was spot on. It was crispy on the outside, tender and moist on the inside. The rice was cooked perfectly (none of that dry cardboard stuff), and the sauce paired really well with the pork. All the sides were delicious and the portions were huge for the price. My wife ordered the Pizzakatsu with rice and enjoyed every bite as well. Plenty of parking since it's in a big lot and if you're looking for a caffeine pick-me-up afterward, Stereoscope is within walking distance so that's a huge plus. Overall, this place has generous portions, quick service, and delicious food. We'll be back!
I was in the area with my mom and haven't been here in a while. It does look like it's closed with the dark windows but it's busy inside. They have the menu centered around donkkaesu (Korean version of donkatsu). We both got a combo of pork katsu ($14.95) with a small bowl of udon soup ($7) added to the meal. It came with a bowl of rice and a side of shredded cabbage with radish kimchi and pickled jalapeno. There's also a piece of fried shrimp and a fried potato ball. The wait time was not long and the food came quickly. The lady came by and gave a small bowl of sesame seeds in a bowl so people can grind it to their preferences. The katsu was crispy and a good size. It was not dried and the breading was not too thick. The staff is nice, restroom was a bit messy.
We came to Yoko Donkatsu with a party of 4 and had high hopes, but the experience was a bit mixed. First off, the restaurant looked closed from the outside -- all the blinds were down, which made us second guess if we were at the right place. Once we got inside, there was a 20-minute wait to be seated. Not a huge deal, but it was uncomfortably hot inside, which made the wait feel longer. We each ordered different dishes and I asked my friends to rate theirs: * Pork Katsu - 8/10, crispy and flavorful. * Beef Katsu - 8/10, tender and tasty. * Cheese + Pork Katsu - 7/10, solid but not a standout. * Chicken Katsu - 8/10, juicy and well-fried. So food-wise, it was overall pretty good! The service, however, left a lot to be desired. I had to ask multiple times for water, and didn't get it until I flagged down a server mid-conversation with another table. It was hard to get anyone's attention, and no one checked in on how we were doing or how the food was -- even though we noticed other tables were being checked on regularly. If you're here just for the food, it's worth a try. But be prepared for a bit of a wait and inconsistent service.

Homestyle Donkatsu. Donkatsu tastes very homey, above average. Udon soup has a lot green onion and coriander on top. The Udon noodle feels homemade. The soup is very regular and flavorful. Small side dishes seem homemade as well. It tasted very yummy! Especially the Kimchi jalapeños!!!! $20 get a Donkatsu + udon combo is not bad. It can feed two people if the two are not too hungry. Plus the point is the food comes very quickly. I would give 4.5 stars based on all these if I was a Korean. Lol. The old lady server was very busy and I noticed she served people who can speak Korean way nicer than my table. Maybe is a language barrier but I still mmm I would still give 4 stars, to support a local business, especially if the food is enjoyable. read more

I've been coming to yoko over the past 10 years. Hands down one of the best donkatsu in OC. I can say they've been very consistent throughout the years with their flavors and their dishes. The menu hasn't changed at all. Depending on how hungry I get, I usually opt for the combos because it comes with a katsu, a fried potato ball and a fried shrimp on the platter which you would not get any of the latter two in their regular plates. The meals all come with kimchi radish cubes, pickled soy sauce jalapeños, and miso soup. If you get the combo, you don't get rice but if you don't, you do get a bowl of rice. I like to branch out and get their udon, spicy tuna roll, crunch roll or their soba depending on my mood. You honestly can't go wrong with any! You won't be disappointed. Pre-pandemic they used to bring out a bowl of roasted sesame seeds and a pestle so you can crush your seeds while you wait. Servers would then come around and fill the bowl with their katsu sauce. I absolutely loved the flavored of the roasted seeds with the sauce, while not a deterrent from dining with them; however, I really thought it enhanced the flavors so much more. Least to say, I thought the katsu tasted better with the roasted sesame seeds dipping sauce BUT it still tastes fine with the regular sauce. It was empty when we walked in but it got crowded super fast. Ordered the cheese katsu combo with soba, regular donkatsu and udon. I like how the pork is soft and not fatty, and the breading isn't too thick. The salad portion is big and the miso soup is flavorful. The cheese katsu was on the heavy side but nonetheless everything was delicious. The radish kimchi is perfectly fermented and the jalapeno is yummy as well. We were all super hungry and left very satisfied. The service was fast and pleasant. I would go back if I'm in the area. read more

Been a regular for awhile finally decided to review this place . Yoko does get busy during lunch and dinner time but the wait times are usually only 15-30 mins. They have variety of different don-katsu and other Japanese Korean food. The service is always friendly. We got two katsu combo that come with soba. The curry katsu is more of a Korean style curry fyi. Overall very tasty place read more

Yoko has been a long-time favorite of mine for katsu in the area! Located within a plaza, Yoko has plenty of parking available with their large lot! If you do plan on dining here, be prepared to wait if you're arriving at peak hours (dinner / weekends). This place is super popular within the area and the restaurant itself is quite small! When you walk in the restaurant, you'll notice that it is a smaller location with limited seats. The inside is very cozy and it definitely gives off the "homey" vibes. I ordered their donkatsu combo with the California roll. One thing to note about the combos is that they do not provide you with a bowl of rice with your meal, and you have to order/ask for it separately. When you order the donkatsu, they'll provide you with a small bowl of sesame seeds, which you'll crush with a mortar and pestle yourself (it's pretty fun), and they'll then add in your donkatsu sauce afterwards. The katsu is always perfectly crispy and juicy in the inside, and all of the sides cut into the fried food perfectly! I love their typical side cabbage salad with their small array of kimchi/pickled radish available! The California roll was like any California roll you'll expect. Overall, I highly recommend checking out Yoko for donkatsu! It's always a go-to of mine with the perfect variation of donkatsu available! read more

My wife and I came on a Friday afternoon around 3. It was semi busy between the restaurant and people coming into pick up to go orders. It was a 1 man crew, and the only complaint was it took a while to get water refills. We both Ordered the katsu combo for 19.95, which comes with one side (Soba noodles, udon, or sushi) One original katsu with soba noodles and one katsu with curry with side of spicy tuna. There is also an activity where you have to Crush sesame seeds by yourself to make the base for a really delicious sauce to go with your katsu, they also generously gave us one to go which we were very happy about. Came here for lunch - parking lot is a little confusing, but you shouldn't have any issue finding parking. They open around lunch time, so there was no wait for 2 people. I didn't have to put my name down and got seated right away with menus and water. It's a small shop, so there's probably a wait when it's busy. After we ordered, the food came out relatively quick. Yoko has katsu, udon, and sushi rolls. My friend and I ended up sharing one Donkatsu Combo - we got Donkatsu & udon. You can get a sushi roll if you're not feeling the udon. The katsu was perfectly crisp and juicy. All the banchan they include with the meal was delicious. The udon noodles were a good texture and the broth was refreshing. Service was good - we didn't really need too much after we got our food. Would come back again for the katsu! read more

Second time dining here and again IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! I had pork katsu, it was so tender and yummy and I'm probably gonna dream about it! My husband had the cheesekatsu and i'm already planning to order that next time cause it was sooo bomb, so far my favorite thing on the menu. Even their hot tea is delicious. Came on a Saturday night so as you can imaging the place was hella busy but we were seated and served right away. Despite the resto being small and crowded I always have a good time dining here cause they're always so welcoming. This place is definitely worth coming back to multiple times. :) read more

It is a small little shop, but they are super popular. I was here on a Sunday night, but the place was poppin' in and out with people and so many to go orders. I was excited to eat! I got the donkatsu combo with crunch roll and my friend a combo with the udon. We both liked our katsu, which also came with one shrimp and one mashed potato croquette (?). It was served with radish kimchi, pickles, and a whole side of cabbage salad. We had to order rice on the side. I liked the flavor of the crunch roll, but it had a super thick layer or rice and was mushy. The udon texture...well they are not known for udon here, better to stick with their katsus. The donkatsu at Yoko is soooo good I ordered the combo with California rolls. The katsu was so hot, fresh, tender, and juicy. The California roll was super fresh as well but they cut it into huge pieces. The banchan they serve with it complements the food so well. I really like the jalapeños. Miso soup was bland af. Not a huge fan of their service. First, they scratched off our name and forgot to call us. The lady that took our order was rude af. They seemed so rushy but it wasn't even that busy. read more

First time here and I am definitely coming back. Ambiance feels homey almost like a mom and pop shop of 30+ years. It also feels like a place you would go with your family after church (homey cozy wholesome vibes). Keep in mind that the inside has limited seating so during peak hours it might be a long wait. It's worth the wait. You have Stereoscope coffee in the other plaza and a Korean supermarket in another. You can easily kill time. Their service was quick, kind and attentive. Y'ALL. Their donkatsu was super juicy and tender on the inside while extra crispy on the outside! It was like a trip to katsu heaven. Katsu can get oily so the cabbage salad, kimchi and soup pairs well with it. Writing this review is making crave it lol Overall, I would 10/10 recommend this place!! read more
We love Yoko! The food here is always good and consistent! We've been coming here for years! Parking is very easy because the plaza has had a lot of closures over the years. It's a decently sized lot! They have a paper sheet outside to write your name and party size down on if there's no tables available. They will come out and call out your name when it's your turn so don't go far. It's a small place with maybe 15-20 tables which mostly seat between 2-4 people. The staff here are friendly and efficient! The food here is what sets this place apart! Everything we've had here has been delicious! The katsu, udon, soba noodles, sushi rolls, everything! We were looking for a chicken katsu place and found Yoko through Yelp. Actually a little disappointed after all the good Yelp reviews. Eight of us came in and they were able to seat us together which was great. Service throughout was very good. 6 of us had the chicken katsu curry and 2 of us had the pork katsu curry. The chicken was good but I thought the curry sauce lacked curry flavor and was more like gravy. They also were nice to give the table some katsu sauce, which starts with you crushing some sesame seeds. Overall, love that it's a family run place with good service and the place had a good local vibe. read more
I was desperate for a warm soup, and udon just sounded like the best choice! After searching on Yelp and reading some reviews, I decided to stop by Yoko for udon. Once I arrived at the parking lot, I started to get anxious after reading all the reviews of the sub-par service received when you aren't Korean. But I decided to push past this because my desire for soup was strong! I came in and was quickly greeted with a younger worker that was very kind to me. I was able to quickly put in an order for the fishcake udon. It seems everything is made to order as the order did take some time to prepare. Once it arrived, it was wonderfully plated and everything was so satisfying! It had a nice mild taste that was warm and cozy to eat. At one point, one of the older servers even asked me if I wanted a refill on banchan! So kind! After eating, the shop had gotten quite busy so it took some time for staff to bring my check for payment, but everyone was very kind. Overall, I would come back and definitely try out the katsus, they really seem to be the star here. read more

three letters - Y U M Could not recommend this place enough, WOW. It's an unassuming little restaurant at the corner of a strip mall but the food here is delicious! We tried a few things but would definitely go for the dontaksu and cold soba combo again. The portions are generous and you'll definitely be taking leftovers home. The katsu is so crispy but light and flavorful (good seasoning), and the accompanying fried shrimp is juicy and cooked perfectly, and the potato croquette is delightful and light. The soba breaks up the bites and the portion is a great size. Service is quick and attentive! read more

It's been quite some time but I believe this is the 1st time we've done here at Yoko. We've been coming here for over a decade. My mil and bil loves the Donkatsu here since they use to live in La Mirada. Now them living in Fullerton. They still frequent here even purchasing to go and bringing it over to us during the beginning of COVID. The donkatsu is good. It was constant incoming traffic from to go orders as we were dining in. ~Donkatsu was fried to perfection...Krispy goodness served w yummy cabbage salad w some type of thousand island dressing & side of kimchi along w pickled pickles. ~Miso soup it came w was yummy filled w tofu. ~Udon was really yummy. The noodles & the broth was simple and good. ~Service was a bit slow. I'd give it a 3 stars. Water was only served for my in laws. Had to ask for our water when we almost finished our meals. There was only one lady waiter. So it was hard for her to service about 5-6 tables. Since there were constant flow of traffic along w other tables needing items. Also trying to also close out the tabs for each table. Restuarant is a bit on the smaller size. It use to be a Video rental shop. Located in the same plaza as Beach Spa & a few doors from Cafe Java Bru. read more
Really enjoyed Yoko. A relatively small restaurant so it is busy even before 6pm on a Friday. Plenty of parking in the stripped mall. Service is fast and they turn around food very quickly. The menu is pretty simple with combo options which is what I ordered, the donkatsu combo with udon for $20, what a deal. Fried very well, crsipy, tasty and comes with side dishes along with a shrimp tempura and potato ball. read more

I finally tried my most desired restaurant on my bookmark collection! I saw that they specialized in different types of Katsu's, so I had to try it. My GF and I both ordered the Chicken Katsu combo ($18) with udon and ordered a Crunch Roll ($10) on the side. The crunch roll was super good but fell apart easily. As for the chicken katsu, it was crispy and delicious. I liked how they gave one katsu breaded shrimp and potato. I really liked the salad that came with it too. The udon was nothing special; it was good but a little bland. We oddly liked the menus and the layout of the meal. We are definitely coming back and trying the kimchi-cheese katsu! Make sure to get there at a reasonable time because it got crowded fast! read more

Always consistently delicious and I don't seem to get tired of it! I honestly never say no when it's one of the food options offered up. My personal favorite is the kimchi-cheese katsu! The cheese is so buttery and the cheese pull is insane even if you order takeout. The flavor is so good, I honestly was pleasantly surprised when I first ordered it and now it's my go to order. The pickled jalapeños and radish they have on the side is delicious on its own, I'd be happy to eat it with a side of rice! The cabbage and sesame dressing is so simple yet adds that perfect cut of flavor to the meal since it can get a little overwhelming due to it being fried. The tonkatsu combo is also a great deal! You get a whole tonkatsu, potato balls and shrimp alongside a side (udon, soba, or sushi roll). It's so good and crispy! I don't know how they do it. I recommend this spot but beware it gets busy!! Parking is easy though since the lot is large. read more
Located in Buena Park, this is a restaurant that specializes in katsu, udon and rolls. Their menu is basic which I can appreciate as it helps to narrow the choices down easily. I ordered their shrimpkatsu and it was amazing. The order comes with two pieces of shrimp katsus with a side of tartar sauce, fried potato ball, rice, cabbage salad with tasty dressing, miso soup, pickled daikon and jalapenos. The shrimp is coated in a perfectly crispy batter and is a huge size too. The potato ball was really good and crispy. The inside has a similar consistency to mashed potatoes. Even though the cabbage salad is simple, the sesame dressing they provide with it is delicious and is all you really need. The miso soup was good and lightly flavored. I also really enjoyed the side of radish kimchi and pickled jalapenos, it is refreshing and adds a nice tang to the dish. There is currently dine in available and the wait time can be lengthy during the weekend and peak hours. Since this is located in a shared plaza with multiple businesses, there is good size parking lot available. read more
Crispy chicken katsu!! This was my second time coming back to Yoko and I would definitely come back! I'm not from SoCal so whenever I want katsu I think of yoko! If you are around Buena Park or Orange County I definitely would recommend this spot! In the past before the pandemic you were able to grind up the sesame which was my favorite part but even without that option it's still yummy! This place is known for their katsu so they don't have alotta variations but I like getting their katsu combo with soba! You can do udon if you want but I don't get soba often outside so I like to treat myself! Besides getting the chicken lays I you also get like a fried potato ball and shrimp! Love the little picked sides they rice as well, the portion is here is very generous and it was enough for 2 people! The inside is a bit small, but the wait isn't too bad. Plenty of parking in the plaza! Definitely will come back again! If you haven't tried this spot then you are missing out and the price is so worth it like $18 for two meals! Oh my goodness, I'm so full! Their menu is simple but with a variety of katsu choices, my husband and I tried for our first visit the chicken katsu and cheese kimchi katsu. Both are served with small side dishes, miso soup, and dipping sauces. The service is quick and the staff is hardworking. Our waiter was great at making reservations and there's plenty of small seating for couples on a date night. Will visit and take friends to try. Plenty of parking too. read more

The best katsu in the city. I love coming here for the perfectly fried donkatsu and tonkatsu sauce. If you're little hungry or want to share add the side of soba - it's wonderfully refreshing. Other items worth trying if you want a change up: - Shrimpkatsu for your seafood lovers out there, but the portion feels a bit smaller then your other meats - Pizzakatsu for the funky but still delicious katsu experience - Currykatsu because when can you ever go wrong with curry? It's a large parking lot, you just might not find a spot right in front since it's located in the far corner. The service is quick but keep in mind, this location is not ideal for larger parties. They'll accommodate of course but parties 6+, I would order to go and eat at a park (they're togo trays are a great set up to enjoy for later). More fun things you'll find in the plaza: unwind at Beach Spa, get a cup a coffee at Stereoscope to help digest, or treat yourself to some dessert at Cafe Java Bru. read more

TL;DR - super good katsu place! 4.5/5 FOOD: *donkatsu - super crunchy and delicious! i loved the potato and shrimp tempera that came with it (i'm not sure if it comes with every combo or they just added it on there to be nice haha). i liked all the side dishes as well like the pickled jalapenos, kimchi, and miso soup. 5/5 *crunch roll - we chose the crunch roll as the combo option. it was pretty good! crunch rolls aren't usually my thing but it was tasty and my friend who i shared the combo with loves crunch rolls and loved it. 4/5 SERVICE: there was only one server at the time my friends and i came so it was a bit hard for them to keep up with everyone. despite that, they tried their best bouncing between order pickups and the dining room customers. 4.5/5 WAIT: this is where a half a star goes out for me because it did take awhile for our orders to be taken. considering it was only one server for everyone in the dining room, it's not too big of a deal but it is smth to note. the server tried his best to keep up with everyone though which is appreciated. 4/5 PRICE: the total was around $25, including tax and tip, for a donkatsu combo. super good price especially considering this was shared between two people! 5/5 THINGS TO NOTE: *plenty of parking in the plaza lot read more

I came in order the same thing for my daughter chicken with udon combo. Togo always came with ride . The lady with the short hair says there is no rice when ordered in the restaurant? Is this true I thought this didn't make sense
I always dine in, and whenever I ask for rice while eating at the restaurant, they do give it to me.
Is the kimchi cheese katsu just kimchi and cheese? Is it possible to get it without meat if it it's not just those two?
It's just kimchi and cheese. There's no meat in it!
Is there update menu?
