Best Gimbap in OC so far. Friendly staffs. This place is a lot better than Baro Kimbap!!

Picked up to go with a large order, great selection of kimbaps! Easy straightforward, maybe a little pricy?

    Assorted tempura

I usually do not write reviews, but I had to. I was really craving for kimbap and I've been wanting to visit this place which was near a Korean market. When I came in, there was no greeting. The lady at the front desk stared at me without saying anything. The kimbap were kind of pricey (ranging from $6-12) but I went and ordered it. Also, I ordered assorted tempura. I asked for " to go." The kimbap was okay, but the portion of the assorted tempura was very dissapointing. The assorted tempura was $12. I've been to many other places including Korean markets, but when I saw the portion for the assorted tempura, I lost my words. If you want to try kimbap, they do have different kinds. But, sadly I won't be coming back.

The name pretty much says it all. A quaint family shop that makes really great kimbap. It's simple, it's delicious. They have great options and the prices were decent. What I also love is the service. Just a bit of a wait because it was super fresh, but the lady at the register was very friendly and very helpful in answering any questions. Great little spot for a quick lunch.

Family Kimbap is a great value spot with solid comfort food. The Family Kimbap was pretty solid and the Spam & Egg Musubi was pleasant. It was well balanced with sesame oil and salt, not overly salty or saucy. Would definitely order that again. The tteokbokki was fairly spicy and very tasty; I'd want cheese added to mellow some of the heat. Kimchi fried rice with spam was standard but satisfying. The original fried chicken was juicy and flavorful, though the flour-based coating wasn't as crunchy as I prefer. I would skip. Minimal amount of seating, but this seems like a to go lunch order spot. Cashier was very friendly and juggling packing to go orders. Prices are very affordable, portions are generous, and they provide a healthy serving size. Good value and overall taste.

A grab and go eatery that just opened a few weeks ago in Buena Park that sells spam musbubi, a variety of kimbaps, and a few entrees like fried rice, kalguksu, and tteokbokki. The musubis and kimbap are premade and packaged in saran wrap/little takeout trays for easy takeout (think musubi cafes in Hawaii or the hot food section in Korean markets). I grabbed a bulgogi kimbap, a spicy pork one ($10 each), and a spam and egg musubi ($4.50). The kimbaps were well constructed with a perfectly thin layer of rice just as a Korean mom would make it. My son devoured the musubi before I could try any so I assume it was good. They also offered a complimentary container of fish cake soup, which was very cozy. The 2 ladies who ran the shop were very friendly even though I didn't speak a lick Korean. Despite its modern interior, the whole place gives very neighborhood corner store vibes. And it's open early (6 AM), so it's a great option to pick up food for the day for those who work early!

I've been here 3 times now and I can't recommend it enough. Super affordable, fresh, and healthy. I love their Family kimbap which is basically just veggies. It is light on the stomach but also a big portion. The rice to filling ratio is amazing!! Better than the local korean supermarket kimbaps. They make everything fresh in house so please be patient. I can definitely see myself becoming a long time customer here.

I think this place offers some of the best price. The kimbap is incredibly generous with the protein, and the portions are so large it honestly makes me wonder how they even make a profit from it lol. Most importantly, the food is delicious and fresh. The lady who runs the shop is very friendly, and the service is quick. Also their fish cake stick is a must try, best one I've tasted so far. Overall, everything is excellent--highly recommend!

Family kimbap has kimbap that's ready to be picked up and taken for takeout. There's dine in options with kimchi fried rice, fried chicken, noodles, kimbap. Food does currently take a longer time to come for the table if dining in, but hoping this will change. Definitely check them out for small bites!

This place is small and quaint, but you can feel the love and effort that goes into making the kimbap and the banchan! It's really nice that they've been giving out the fish cake soup included with the kimbap as I have never seen this with other kimbap and banchan places. The picked radish on the side is also really delicious and sort of addicting! I definitely recommend trying the bulgogi kimbap, anchovy kimbap, family kimbap and the spam kimbap! The banchan there is also really tasty and I'm looking forward to trying other foods! The service is really nice, friendly and welcoming and I believe they take advance orders to pick up in the morning!

The kimchi, kkakdugi (radish kimchi), and gat kimchi are absolutely delicious. I heard that the owner makes everything in-house, and you can really tell how much care and skill go into the food. The staff are also incredibly kind and welcoming every time I visit. Galbitang (Beef Short Rib Soup) - This is honestly the best galbitang I've had in both OC and LA. The broth is rich and flavorful, and the beef is always fresh and tender. Whenever I'm craving galbitang in the OC/LA area, this is the only place I go. Yukgaejang (Spicy Beef Soup) - The amount of ingredients they give you is amazing. I've had it both dining in and as takeout, and it's consistently delicious every single time. It's perfectly seasoned, and has just the right level of spice. As much as I love the galbitang, I think I actually enjoy the yukgaejang even more. Pork Cutlet (Donkatsu) - This place is known for its galbitang and seolleongtang, so I wasn't expecting much from the donkatsu... but why is it this good? The cabbage salad dressing that comes on the side is seriously addictive. The portion size is huge, there's no way I could finish it by myself. It has the crispy texture of Japanese katsu, while still having a great pork flavor of its own. I honestly think this could be considered one of their signature dishes. I love that you order off their kiosk which is conveniently located at the table already. The staff was quick to bring out the banchan. To start, we shared their leek pancake and pork blood sausage. For my lunch I went with their cold noodles since it was a cold day. The people I came with had some pork spare ribs, which came with rice and bone knee soup. And a bibimbap. The leek pancake was the best thing there. The pork blood sausage was more of rice noodles rolled up with pork blood flavored. I can't imagine it being much portion. Eveything else was bland which we all agreed to. For my cold noodles I added plenty of vinegar and mustard but it was not it. Still lacked flavor. Also it only had half a boiled egg and two verythin slices of beef. The pork was over cooked, dry, and lacked flavor. The bibimbap was also bland even with their red sauce. We we were all disappointed. The pricing is affordable. The staff was nice and quick. They made sure to check up on us. Parking here is a tough even though it was a weekday. Their lot was full and you can park next door but by the dental office but that was also full. We waited a little and eventually found parking. The restaurant is very casual, clean and spacious. This was just really meh to me.

But since I moved out of LA, it's so inconvenient to get to. Enter Kyung Bok Kung -- what a find. I can get a fine dining korean bbq experience conveniently. I've been here a number of times, and this review reflects the few times I've been there. It's become the goto spot to take people from out of town who are visiting and want a Kbbq experience. Things I immediately noticed - lots of white and grey teslas in the parking lot during lunch - you know what that means? Golf Koreans. Yup. Go inside and you'll see incredibly well dressed older retired people with their buddies chatting up in private cubicles. Beautiful decor. It's like the background setting of a korean drama where there's a close-up of the guy and the girl - they're about to say something really serious to each other. The camera does a wide angle shot of them - and this is the restaurant it's shot in. Price points - this place isn't cheap, but they have incredibly good deals on a weekday lunch (cold noodles and meat set). Their dinner set course meals are priced around what you would expect from a quality steak house. This place is not as pricey as AB steak or Cote, but you're getting just as quality. Food - I've had the lunch set meals, the bbq grilled course, and ordered à la carte. One thing is for sure - they don't miss. I never had a 9 budda plate until I came here, but apparently it's like a thing that royals ate during the monarchy days. It was like a korean vegetarian taco. Very intricate (and slightly annoying) to put together but delicious - and a great test of your chopstick skills. Their braised beef (galbijjim) from their lunch set intersects savory, sweet, and tenderness in a way that only Korean grandmas do. I'm not a huge fan of Wagyu beef (just too rich and can never feel after eating it), but I have never felt that way coming out of here. Go here at night if you want to impress someone or celebrate something. Go here during lunch if you want a fantastic meal and want to see what the best korean food can taste like but don't want to break the bank.
