    Shaggy dog and tiger roll!

Service was very good along with the food! Waiter was very nice and attentive. We went during lunch on a Friday so it was not busy!

Frank always gives us great service and is a hard worker. The freshest Fish in Cypress we've been coming here for over six years. The Chef also does a really good job.

A friend and I came here after she did my hair because it was close to her house and she wanted ramen. The inside is smaller than I thought. Service is ok nothing to write about but they do get food out really quick and they do not make you feel rushed. We ordered a house bottle of wine since it was less than $20. My friend wanted ramen but did not get it because all of their ramen is cooked in pork broth which she does not eat. She enjoyed her chicken katsu. I liked the ramen but it lacked a bit of flavor. I did enjoy my sushi roll immensely and the edamame even though my friend said the edamame wasn't as spicy until the very end.

    Amazing food!

Great food! I travel a lot and when I'm home, this is my second home to get work done. Nice ambience, and great service.

Frank has taken phenomenal care of me at Yokohamaya Sushi in Cypress--just like every visit for the past 10 years. Tonight's spread was pure elegance: a gorgeous Sashimi Deluxe plate with fresh, buttery salmon and tuna, plus silky hamachi that melted on the tongue. The yellowtail jalapeño appetizer was perfectly balanced--bright heat, clean citrusy bite, and ultra-fresh fish. Even the seaweed salad was crisp and vibrant. From presentation to pacing, everything felt polished, welcoming, and consistently top-tier. Yokohamaya Sushi never misses.

This is one of the highest rated sushi restaurants in my area, however, if I'm honest, I was off to a rough start obtaining my order. I ordered through Yelp (which uses Grubhub)...turns out this restaurant no longer uses grub hub :(. The reason I mention this is because it made a great experiment. After the whole ordeal, and Yelp/Grub Hub issued a refund, I'm no quitter, so I went to order the same items from the restaurant website. My total was about $10 more. Although I was confused, more than anything I was hungry, so after another 20 minute wait, I was thankfully off with my food (in a very fancy to-go) Although I opened the bag to a few surprises, it was clear that everything was packed with care. First the surprises- No chopsticks were included in my order (this may be on me. I guess I had to actively select to have utensils included)? Second, the crab puff sauce was clear (it tasted fine but the color was new to me). Third, the Naruto roll has very thick cucumbers, and to my surprise I ordered a fried roll (whoops. That's 100% on me). Given those last two sentence I can't say what I ordered was sushi (atleast not the kind I usually order), so I'll have to try again an other day. This review is to: -warn you dear reader to order takeout from this restaurants website instead of a 3rd party -give praise to the miso soup and spicy edamame (which truly is coated well and truly spicy). I'll be back to try again!

Came in for a late Sunday lunch, restaurant was very quiet due to the time, we were treated and seated promptly. Ordered and received our food which was excellent! Restaurant was also very clean! Good food and pretty big portions!

Conveniently located right next to our hotel. We came here for a quick ramen and the taste was pretty decent.

Do they have gluten free options?

I didn't order any so can't vouch for flavor, but definitely had some listed on menu. I would assume that the quality and flavor was as high as their other offerings.

All three rolls tasted great and had their own distinct flavor profile. The chicken dish was not my favorite, but came out piping hot, which was perfect! The spicy edamame appetizer I didn't care for very much, as I prefer them to be tossed in a chili oil instead of siracha sauce. Great decor that fits the restaurants vibe, service was friendly and timely, and the food hit the spot. We left feeling very full :)

Great spot in the Cypress area!…read more The food was great! I don't think I had anything that I didn't like. I tried a few of my wife's sushi, chicken skewers, and some kind of dumplings she ordered, and I had the sizzling bulgogi kimchi plate. My plate came with a salad, which I wish came in a slightly bigger bowl, as it was starting to fall out. The bulgogi kimchi plate was delicious. There was a good amount of beef, and the crispy--possibly garlic or onions on top was a great addition. The amount of food on the plate was just right. I couldn't give it a full 5 stars because the service was only good when the server was actually there. I think there were 2, maybe 3 servers, with the restaurant about 70% full. We took some extra time to order, but it also took a while for someone to come back and take our order. It took a while to get a refill, and there were noticeable delays whenever we needed a server. The sushi had way too much sauce on it. It was overpowering the taste of the fish. Check the pic.

I usually get the hibachi chicken, and it is always flavorful, filling, and reasonably priced. The restaurant has a smaller, more intimate atmosphere, which I enjoy. Figured it would be too late for dinner after the show so I went before and am glad that I did! Easy to find on the east side of the outlet mall and right off of the old Hempstead Highway, now 290. I was there at 5:30 and only a few people inside dining or having a drink. My server was Everado and he was great. I ordered a glass of the Imagery Pinot Noir. I was in real luck as it was Happy Hour with some great discount prices on several of their appetizers, sushi and sashimi. I decided to try the soft shell crab appetizer and it came out so quickly. It was crispy and super fresh, perfectly paired with the wine I had ordered. I love Japanese restaurants like this, especially when they aren't supper busy. You can take your time, order a thing or two and peruse the menu and pick something else at your leisure. My next treat was one of their "signature appetizers" and it was great, what was described on the menu as a tuna and salmon martini! Wow, it tasted as good as it looked and not only had fresh sashimi slices of tuna and salmon but also meaty escolar. In the center was a creamy mix of wasabi, ginger topped with some tobiko, the small orange fish roe. Talk about a real culinary treat! Next up was a special house roll called the Pink Lover Roll which was a roll with chopped spicy salmon, tuna, yellow tail, tempura jalapeno and avocado with spicy mayo, eel sauce and honey wasabi. The portion was huge and really could have fed 2 people. I enjoyed it but found the sauces over the top a bit too much. It was spice but not too hot. Glad I tried it but would opt for something different next time and surely not as large! Last thing ordered was the Hibachi Combo Yakisoba dinner entree. Had it not been for the large previous roll I ate I would have devoured this as it was fresh off the hibachi grill and full of shrimp and beef as well as a lively assortment of crisp vegetables. It came with a pleasant miso soup, the perfect thing between courses. Alas, I ended up taking half of my yakisoba home for a future lunch. The restaurant is nicely decorated, very clean and sharp. You can sit at at table, booth or at the bar, I chose a table. Restrooms were clean and easy to find. In the end my lovely dinner was just under $100 plus a 20% tip for great service so not a place you might go to casually in regard to cost but still worth the trip as everything was fresh and well presented.
