I visited Yokos on a Thursday night after a wine event I had next door and I was very pleased with my experience! It was recommended to me by a friend so I decided to give them a try. The service was very great, from the host to the waitress; everyone was super nice and helpful. The food was very delicious I got like 5 sushi rolls and for an app I got some sort of calamari (can't remember the name right now lol but it was goooood). I'm a huge spicy Mayo girl and that was probably the only thing I didn't really enjoy ... heavy Mayo base (duh) but a little too much. So During Happy Hour 4-6pm They advertise discounts on sushi, I didn't get that applied! Next they charge $10 more for 9 piece Unagi Don which was 26.00 previously! Now they state it's $36.00 and now called Sashimi Dinner. Def bait and switch! Buyer be aware! Each 3 pieces of unagi is 7.25 I feel I got cheated, I brought this up, and they said they raised prices and the happy hour prices aren't valid at this time! Which again false advertising! Great food. BUT Extremely small orders. I spent $80 on dinner and we were still hungry. Two of my kids 4 and 7 shared the Yaki soba. The portion was so small I had to make them more food for them at home. This is very sad to have to leave a bad review because everything tasted good. But the portions do not match the price. This restaurant is really a good spot in South Tampa! The service and sushi is delicious. Our waitress (Masiel) was super awesome and kind. We chose here because they have 2-3 veggie rolls which is extremely hard to find. These are veggie rolls with more than one vegetable and just rice (ex: cucumber roll: cucumber & rice). The veggie rolls at Yoko have several vegetables lol (**small victories**). My girl got a normal sushi roll and she loved it. We also really enjoyed the miso soup & ginger salad. Our first time here and would certainly be our last. The chicken tatsutaage was so dry and bland, we had to ask for some hot sauce. Much to our surprise, we were charged $0.50 for a tiny cup of Sriracha. This is definitely the first time I was charged for Sriracha, anywhere in the US! My favorite place to get sushi in south tampa. All of the rolls are fresh, but my go to is the candy cane roll. It is a sprint crunchy tuna roll topped with red and white tune. The sesame oil and scallions on top of this roll are really what takes the flavor to the next level. I can't get enough of the sesame oil on top of the tuna roll. I had to write this review while my experience is fresh in my head. Highly disappointed in our service at this recommended restaurant. Suishi was yummy and fresh but the rudeness of our service took away so much of our experience. We were celebrating a friend's birthday and she actually asked for another server. However I believe they were short staffed like so many other businesses. This doesn't excuse the attitude and lack of care he provided this evening. The wait time was absurd as well and we were even asked "Did we still want our dishes"! However my friend said the tuna nachos were absolutely devine and worth the wait. I've tried this place a few times now - sushi, apps, ramen, and soups - and the best word I can think of to describe it is, well, meh. It's not awful. It's not great. It's just kind of in the middle somewhere. Why? Well, here's a few reasons: 1. They're obsessed with spicy tuna - hard to find a tuna roll without it. 2. They drench the rolls in sauce - it's more than a bit too much. 3. Yoko's Tataki Sauce is "creamy", and not in a good way. 4. Their tempura app is beyond greasy - like give you a stomach ache greasy. 5. The server I had didn't understand what an inside out roll is, and he's been there each time I've gone. 6. The ramen broth was overly salty and lacking in flavor. All in all, I just get the impression they either don't really understand authentic Japanese cuisine, or they've lost touch with it in trying to please the Tampa palate. I've had sushi and other wonderful food in Japan, so I've got high expectations. I will not be returning to Yoko's. Last thing I want to say is - they were clearly fully staffed, both behind the sushi bar and the service staff. We do sushi Saturday nights at our house. It's a treat for us to not cook and eat a few carbs! A few weeks ago, I decided to switch it up and try a new place...we've tried so may in our area. So we tried Yoko's. First thing I liked? Ordering online and not through a delivery app which means no up charge. Next? Tons of interesting rolls including 2 rolls that are wrapped in cucumber aka no rice. :) so we've now visited 3 times. Yummy! They also offer fresh rolls and have monthly special rolls so the variety is awesome. Our favorites include Geisha, Mexican, Super Mexican, Austin, Love, and Kani-su. read more

Stopped by with a bunch of girlfriends last night for one of their birthdays. Was originally going to go to Osteria for dinner but the wait was way too long. I've always wanted to try Yoko's so we decided we could wait 20 minutes for a table. The wait for the table was WAY shorter than the wait for food! If you ever want to try this place out. Please do not go on a Saturday night. The reason why I took one star off is because we were ravenous and didn't think it would take almost an hour for food to come out. Granted it was super busy but it was a bit ridiculous. Each of us ordered two rolls each and we wrote down our menu items on the sheet but when the waitress came by to take the order, she left so quickly that she didn't even ask who got what. We were way too hungry to tell to put our food on separate plates and went about eating. Food was really good. Prices were average for sushi. Nothing phenomenal. I would come back but never on a Saturday night when I'm hungry. From what I remembered, I really liked The Rieing Sun, Caliente, and Geisha rolls. read more

I'll start this off by saying I miss the old Yoko's. The one that had more intimate seating vs squishing everyone in like sardines and the bigger portion sizes. The atmosphere was much more appealing some years back and I remember the waitstaff use to actually wear kimonos. We came in on Friday night and had reservations for 7 and had to wait 10-15 mins for a table to clear, no big deal. After we ordered our food, it took a solid 40 plus mins before any rolls arrived. These rolls are tiny! I remember in particular, the Bucs roll being almost a 2 bite roll as well as the Volcano was much bigger. It is obvious they are reducing portion sizes to save on cost while charging the customer the same price. For the amount of rolls we ordered we should have been much fuller but one roll was equivalent to .5 maybe .75 of a normal-sized roll if I'm being generous. We even had to order another roll for my daughter because she wasn't even a tad full. Although the flavors and freshness are great, we won't be coming back due to the slow service, atmosphere, and small portion sizes. The rolls were cut so thin you could barely grasp it with chopsticks. Had to come though, on international sushi day. read more

Yoko's has some of my favorite sushi in Tampa! With quick and kind service, a solid happy hour on select rolls & sake, and a convenient south Tampa location, you really cannot go wrong. I've been coming here for over 10 years, and I have to say Yoko's is excellent. The sushi I have gotten has always been fresh and high-quality fish. It may lack some of the flair of the other sushi places in the area that try to cater to an American palette, but it's authentic and good food. Beyond their sushi, some of their other entree are great. Can't beat the price of their Katsu Donbury, which has a panko-fried chicken cutlet over rice with a egg (similar to tamago nigiri flavor) on top. If you're not picky and care to venture outside of specialty rolls, I've never been done wrong by their omakase options: the Sushi Jo and chirashi. They even let me swap out the tuna roll with another roll for the Sushi Jo with no extra charge. If you're looking for something with a little more scenery and flair, there's always places like Samurai Blue in Ybor, but if you want no-frills, good-quality sushi, you can't go wrong with Yoko's. read more

Neighborhood gem nestled into a shopping plaza just south of Bay to Bay. Yoko's is a S Tampa mainstay with lots of regulars. Parking is a little tough on popular nights out. Yoko's sushi is always a family treat. Good selection of rolls, handhelds, and sashimi offerings. For an adventure off the cold menu truly their Yakisoba which is very close to the original recipe that I so enjoyed whilst living in Okinawa, Japan. Here's my three thigs: 1) Very experience sushi chef's who make some of the biggest rolls in S Tampa. 2) The Sushi Jo is my favorite offering which is 10 pieces of nigiri (chefs choice) and a tuna maki roll. Which comes with miso soup and ginger salad. 3) Wine list is pretty questionable as they were out of almost 4 menu items that my wife wanted to and include the special. I will be coming back as the sush is the main show and it is always good. read more

Why 4 stars? Because this is some of the better sushi in Tampa Bay. --- --- --- I did not get to full take in this experience, because I was making a quick solo trip before heading to a concert. I order a couple of rolls - the Lobster and the something else. The lobster was absolutely spectacular, while the other one was definitely not my favorite. I know it's SUPER useful when I can't even remember the name of it, but I let the sushi chef recommend a roll for me to try, so I instantly forgot what he said it was called, haha. I don't blame Yoko's though, I was feeling more adventurous than usual and was in a high-risk, high-reward kind of mood.
