I'll start with the positive: The French Toast is probably the best I've ever had! My wife ordered the French Toast, and after I tried a bite of hers, I ordered a piece. All of the ingredients were fresh; but the prices are a little higher than they ought to be. I ordered the Biscuits and Groovy. Biscuits is plural in the name. If there were 2 biscuits, they were tiny. If there was only 1 biscuit, maybe rename the item Biscuit & Groovy. In either case, there wasn't a lot of gravy. The wait wasn't bad. 30 minutes for a table for 2 on a Sunday in February. Can't imagine the wait in the Spring or Summer. We ordered 3 cocktails. Total for all three was $41. These were easily the most expensive 'mocktails' ever. None of them seemed to have much liquor. You aren't going to get lit at Yolk. All in all, 3.5 stars. But I wouldn't go back. And I definitely wouldn't wait more than 30 minutes to dine at Yolk. read more

Get there early or just expect to wait. Opened at 8 and by 830 had a waitlist. It's a small establishment. Good for 2 people. They can push tables together for larger group. Cozy spot. Had bar seating but that was not open to just sit at. Food was great! No real complaints. Bacon was over done and they replaced it for "wobbly bacon" Only place we found to have breakfast. We just had breakfast at Yolk and are already planning our next visit ( they are open Friday-Monday, no reservations). I had the country scramble with the seasoned crispy potatoes and biscuit and my husband had the scramble with bacon, avocado and blue cheese. It was all delicious and their coffee is very good. We needed a good breakfast after a long weekend at the coast. Yolk offers just that, a delicious and fresh home-cooked brunch! We were excited to try what they had to offer. They get EXTREMELY busy. We waited over an hour for a table and were offered bar seating at around an hour wait. Normally we are fine with bar seating, however, the bar seats that they have are small wooden round seats with no backs - we just would not have been comfortable with that seating. The food came out quickly and was delicious, you can really taste that it's homemade! A bit on the pricier side ($5 for a small gravy), but I would go back especially with the limited offering at the coast. read more

We tried Yolk after reading a Yelp review, and we are so happy we did! There was a wait, but that's to be expected on a Sunday morning, and it was well worth it. We started with lattes from Manzanita News and Espresso across the street (that's another recommendation) which we drank while waiting and were allowed to bring in. Our server was very patient with us since it was our first visit. I finally decided on the special scramble of the day, and my wife had one slice of French toast and their house made fennel sausage. My sister and brother-in-law shared the biscuits with sausage and gravy. Everything was top quality and taste. We get to the coast about every other month, and we will absolutely be back. read more

So good we visited twice. We were staying nearby last weekend and dropped in for breakfast. We each got a version of the 2 egg breakfast and coffee. Everything tasted simply delicious. We loved every morsel, but the potatoes were next level. We ended up returning the following morning as well, where the hubby stuck with his previous selection but I decided to give the French toast a try (accompanied by the potatoes cuz l had no choice). Day two, everything was superb once again. The place isn't huge and seems to be a hot-spot for breakfast, so prep for a possible wait. Service was friendly, thorough, and fast. The eggs were soft and light, the side potatoes were crisp and flavorful, and the biscuit had a nice tender crumb and the jam was fresh and yummy. My wife and I really loved this place for brunch! Building is really cute on the inside, and when you go, see if you can name all the dolls hanging from the bar area! All the staff were very friendly and it was cool seeing their interactions with not only the out of towners like ourselves, but with their local "regular" customers. We had a short wait since we declined bar seating, and Yolk has some comfy padded benches to take in the environment. The vibe is eclectic and fun, some of my favorite 80's music played just loud enough. We were brought some menus to look at while we waited. When we were seated, our server correctly assumed we would know our order. We are more mocktail folks, and the Spouse's Virgin Mary was delicious, I kept stealing sips. It also had a yummy garnish of cheese, salami, pickled veg and olive. I ordered the Veggie Hash without eggs and added a side of their braised kale for extra veggie fortification. It came with a pice of local sourdough toast (or biscuit, English muffin or fruit). This was the perfect antidote to the other beach weekend eating I had been doing! Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. Manzanita feels less touristy than other parts of the coast, and a lot of locals seemed to be greeted by name at Yolk. I try to avoid rating restaurants on service, which can vary, but our experience here was great. We were prepared for the wait, signed in 6th in line, went for a walk for 20 minutes and came back to a short wait. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, prompt, and made great recommendations. Orange juice tasted fresh and not sugary. Coffee was wonderful. By that I mean it is a well groomed humming brunch machine. No reservations as this place doesn't need them. I think there is outdoor and patio seating but that was a definite no go today.. Considering" how busy they were, and I mean busseling, the staff was friendly and professional. Very quick to serve us and the order cam up li Kitty spit. My friend and I shared the lemon pancakes Infused with marionberries and topped with a light dusting of powder sugar with a warm maple syrup accompanying them. We also shared the huevos rancheros with chorizo added. Crazy savory. Excellent choices without too huge a serving which you usually get at brunch. We put our name down and waited about 20 minutes for a table on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. It was busy, but they were turning over tables quickly. I loved the vibe of this place - the people were friendly, it was quaint, the food was delicious, and the service was quick. We didn't feel rushed, either. It was so homey inside, and there was an open kitchen as well - I love watching an open kitchen! This was truly one of my favorite breakfasts I've ever had. I got their veggie hash, which had an assortment of veggies, an egg, fresh basil, amazing seasonings, and their breakfast potatoes and it came with your choice of fruit or bread. The bread is made in house, and the fruit salad was delicious and so fresh - made with melons and lemon and honey and basil. They had two different mimosa specials on the menu - black cherry and mango. We got one of each to share and they were both delicious. Definitely a must-try if you're in Manzanita. This place is very popular and I'd heard good things about it. It was buzzing and fun. I went by myself today and waited a little bit. I was sat at the bar. Everyone was very friendly. I ordered a whiskey sour but the bartender said they were out of cherries. Okay, no big deal. She made me a mango orange mimosa. I ordered the eggs Benedict and a few minutes later she said they were out of ham, so I got bacon instead. I was a little annoyed but it's not her fault. It came out lightening fast, and the potatoes were undercooked and over seasoned. The hollandaise was delicious, but that bacon just wasn't right (and there wasn't much of it). It was then that I was disappointed. I told another server about the potatoes after she asked if I wanted a box. Then when my bill came, my mimosa wasn't on there. I told a third server who thanked me for my honesty and paid the bill. Maybe they tried to comp me for the mistake, but I'd rather be told that than assume it.
