Located in Hana World is what may be the best Korean food we've had in Austin so far. Unfortunately, since Hana World is closing we decided to stop by and check it out one last time. Parking is easy to find and this stall is in the food court just past Ramen Del Barrio. Somehow we hadn't eaten at Hana Yoree before, but we wish we had. It is very much a food stall but has such a homey feeling to it. Ordering is very easy and they have a pretty diverse menu for such a small food court. Just a heads up, it's cash only so be prepped for that when you stop by. We got a good amount of food including their spicy beef soup, homemade noodle soup, Korean scallion pancake, bulgogi, and fried dumplings. Every dish was good with the homemade noodle soup being a true standout. The homemade noodle soup has a sweet broth and chewy noodles wrapped up into one delicious comfort dish we wish we could have every cold night. The spicy beef soup popped with flavor. The beef tender and the spice not being so much that it took away from the rest of it. The scallion pancakes were unexpectedly seafood based which threw us off a bit but was still decent nonetheless. Their bulgogi was absolutely mouth watering. Juicy and packed with flavor, we could've eaten pounds of it. And lastly, the fried dumplings were good. Pretty tiny but still very yummy. The whole meal was great and it felt like such a loving and home cooked meal for us to have eaten in the middle of a food court. With Hana Worlds closing, Hana Yoree doesn't know what's next as they don't have any set plans but we very much do hope they are able to make it because this is a spot deserving of its own storefront and we would love to come back and eat again. read more

Before we even walked in, my boyfriend and I had a good feeling about the place, we saw a big group of ajummas and ajussies heading in to eat, and if there's one thing my Korean boyfriend has taught me, it's to always notice who else is eating at a restaurant. If the locals love it, it's going to be good, and Yoree definitely proved that true. We ordered the bibimbap, which came out as a huge portion. Everything was extremely fresh, flavorful, and filling, it really hit the spot. We also tried the tteokbokki, and it was hands-down a 5 out of 5. My boyfriend said it tasted exactly like his childhood, completely authentic and exactly how it should be. I hate leaving such a negative review for an Asian small business, but I gotta be honest because this is a terrible representation of an amazing cuisine. We went in for an early dinner on a weekday. The food court was empty. We didn't go in expecting excellent service, but from the very beginning the two women at the counter seemed disinterested and as if doing is a favor. Anyway, we ordered Dak (chicken) Bulgogi. What arrived was an abomination! While I am not Korean, I've been fortunate to have lots of Korean friends and tastes enough Korean food to know what a Dak Bulgogi should taste and look like. What we got was almost boiled, grey chicken, which didn't seem to have been stir fried. It was doused in sesame oil, and had absolutely no flavor. We were so hungry and tired that we just ate what we could. The saving grace was the two types of kimchi that was provided. It's safe to say that I'm never going back. I also wonder whether this plate was served to us because we definitely don't look Korean/Asian (I'm South Asian). Yoree is located in the food court of Hana Mart. It offers a pretty extensive menu of Korean dishes. I have eaten here a few times, and each dish I have had was delicious. Yesterday was no exception. I ordered Duk mandu guk (rice cake dumpling beef soup). It comes in a large bowl with lots of rice cake and beef. There are several dumplings as well. The broth is beef based and milky from the rice. The restaurant also puts an egg in the soup as is in many Korean dishes. The soup is not spicy but warm and delicious. This is perfect during the winter. Yes, of course there is Kimchee. Yesterday, they served me with both the traditional style plus an additional bowl of radish Kimchee. For me, this Kimchee was not spicy and a little sour but not bad. It is a self-service restaurant for the most part. You order at the counter and get your napkins. utensils, and cup for water. There is a water dispenser to fill your own cup. Then, find an open table and wait for them to call your number. If you get carry out, there is a fee of I believe of 50 cents or 1 dollar depending on your total bill. Also, they prefer cash and not a debit/credit card. Don't worry. They do take cards, but it is a little inconvenient since you have to go inside Hana Mart to the cashier and pay, then take the receipt to Yoree to get your food. The seating is open and plentiful. It is clean and organized well. It contains tables and chairs with benches along the wall. Flavorful and such a great/huge portion of food when you order. I get the beef bulgolgi plate and it's the biggest portion I've received at a Korean pick up spot in the area. And for such a great affordable price. To keep up the economy/inflation the price has gone up a bit from when I started coming here maanny maanny years ago but still really affordable and worth it. The service is always great. Nice friendly and you can even sit in the food court if you like but I usually pick up to go. Today I came in for lunch with Thing One and we ordered one menu item each. Let's go! Spicy beef and vegetable soup Yukgaejang Now, I've had this menu item before but not from this establishment. What is this? The soup is slightly spicy, savory, and comforting. Yukgaejang is served with a bowl of rice, kimchi and other Korean side dishes. The yukgaejang served here was watery, lacked flavor and was served with Ramen noodles, (say whhhhhhhat, who dose that?) and lacked nearly any beef. I was thoroughly unimpressed with this menu item. In my opinion, homemade yukgaejang is better than yukgaejang at a restaurant, because you can add a host of hearty ingredients. Daeji Bulgogi- Spicy Korean Pork If you like your food with a lot of kick, daeji bulgogi won't disappoint. It combines sweet and heat with tender, thinly sliced pork for a great combination. Dwaeji-bulgogi uses Korean-based chili pepper flakes, garlic and ginger to bring the heat. This dish had very little heat and if heat in this case were measured on a Richter scale, it would be a 2. Thing One didn't mind this as he is not the biggest fan of spice. Frankly, this dish also underperformed in the flavor department as the traditional elements that are the base for this dish were muted. Overall a valiant attempt at Korean soul food, but this experience was a miss for me. read more

Nasty. We ordered no spicy and it came out spicy. I took it back to the counter being that it was inedible. they were so confused. They did not understand what I was saying they kept saying "you want more spice?" Just ridiculous. Still has that crispiness on the outside and has plenty of seafood inside. *There is self-serve free soup at the counter near the utensils. I had Korean egg drop soup there a couple of times but the most recent one was soooo salty that I couldn't finish more than a couple of spoons. Other neighboring stalls have come & gone over time, but Yoree seems to have enough fans to stick around. We've been eating here for years when we have a craving for dolsot bibimbap (#27, spelled Dol Sot Bi Bim Bab on the posted menu, currently listed at $12 up from $9 during the pandemic, still a bargain) and don't want to get dressed up or wait too long to eat. If you haven't yet had the pleasure, the "dolsot" part of the name means this flavorful rice meal is served in a scorching hot rock or ceramic pot that will continue to caramelize the bottom layer of rice as you devour the assortment of veggies, fungi, pickles, proteins, and sauce from the top. If you get the included runny egg garnish (and you should), be sure to work some of that yolk down to the bottom rice for an extra treat in the crisped rice, aka socarrat (Spanish) or nurungji (Korean), that you'll scrape up at the end of the meal. Better off buying JJ sauce and making at home. Gamjatang = least amount of meat I've seen in this dish and meat looked and tasted like it had been frozen for a very long time. The base was full of kimchi and tasted like kimchijigae rather than GJT. The broth was so hot the kimchi was overboiled almost to a mush. Kimchi given as a side is okay. I always come to Yoree for jjajangmyeon and pancake. Huge portion at a very reasonable price. The sauce has good thickness and is very flavorful. It comes with kimchi and pickled radish. Pancake is panfried to perfection - crunchy texture on the outside but soft on the inside, scallion is not over cooked inside either. They also have a hot self-served soup pot that changes quite often. The ones I've tried are Korean style egg drop soup and spicy vegetable soup. Both are delicious. The broth of egg drop soup is super clear with no single drop of oil. One thing to keep in mind is they charge 25 cents per to-go box, so you gotta come with a big appetite. Their portion is big, so if there's a chance you may need to take it home, be prepared and bring your own containers to avoid the charge. For to-go orders, they also charge a flat rate of $1 for boxes. Surrounding food stands come and go so often but Yoree has been standing strong for years. Service was pleasant with an elder Korean lady who spoke broken English but was happy to be of service and kind to my little baby girl.
