We came to Maine for a Valentine's Day weekend. This was a random unplanned stop on the way to our resort. Was it ever a pleasant surprise!!! The waitress was SO NICE and helpful with the menu and suggestions. We ended up getting some great tips on the area while we waited for our food. The smell of the place had us anxiously awaiting our food. It was heavenly! The takeout was buzzing and we got to smell all the amazing pizzas cooking. As for our food my husband ordered the margarita pizza and I got a chicken quesadilla. They were divine!! I really wanted caramelized onion on mine and they happily made me some. For a tiny little place they were definitely a 5 star all around, both staff and food. We will be back again before we head home. The prices were really reasonable! read more

Let's get one this straight, the food is amazing and alone would be 5 stars. Unfortunately every time I try to go there on a Monday they aren't open... even though they say they are. For that reason I have to dock some points. I would understand if this was for the winter and a "winter hours" sort of deal, but that isn't reflected online or on the sign outside of the restaurant. In fact when I tried to stop by after work today the "open" sign was still in the window but it was quite obvious that no one was there. One of my coworkers has been having the same issue where he will call to order but no one ever answers. It's disappointing for a place that has such amazing food. It probably won't stop me from trying to eat there, but there's only so many times you can try before you give up. read more

We heard from many people about the pizza and can say the individual pizzas are generous, delicious and great tasting. The choices are unique and the place has a low key atmosphere, but food and beer are very very good. Outside seating is also available as is "take out". read more

The crust is soft yet firm enough to support a topping laden pizza, and there is a great variety of specialty pizzas, not the same old ones that most places have. Delicious! This was our first trip here, and we weren't disappointed. We ordered the "corn off the cob" to start, then I ordered the personal sized "The Kind" pizza - which is a pizza with white sauce, roasted whole cloves of garlic, roasted mushrooms, fresh mozzarella and ricotta. My fiance ordered the bacon, asparagus and feta pizza. The corn was pretty good, kind of greasy (that's to be expected with honey butter!) but both the pizzas were phenomenal. This little place was great! Pizza was amazing, fresh, and great combo of ingredients on the standard menu pizzas. Don't see a combo you like, just make your own! I had the individual The Kind and it was delicious. Great size, and took home leftovers! Others with me tried the taco pizza which she loved, and chicken sandwich... Which is served on pizza crust bread! All were great. They also have an interesting selection of IPAs to choose from... Though we're out quite a few at the time of out visit! Called at 7pm on a Friday and hung up after being put on hold (without any additional communication) for 15 minutes. I understand being busy during peak hours but that type of response to a call for order is ridiculous. Best pizza in town but physical presence is necessary. read more

This restaurant is, by far, the best casual place to eat in York. The staff are very friendly. The food is exceptional. Try the ABLT sandwich, it is the best sandwich i have evet had! First time at York 54, just had to write a review it was so good! Very small inside but nice atmosphere. The food was great, we ordered 2 kids pizzas (very large and only $4.95), real pizza not frozen like some places give kids. We had garlic bread, salad and taco pizza, all wonderfully fresh and delicious. They have a good selection of local beer and basic wine. Great service too! Wish we lived more local, would definitely be our place to get pizza. read more

They got part of our take out order wrong (added dairy cheese (allergy) to two items we ordered without dairy cheese) - we called to see about making it right. While on hold we could hear the staff arguing that they wouldn't be paying for their mistake even though we hadn't asked for anything for free. We showed up to pick up the corrected order and they charged us full price for the two items that they got wrong. Not asking for anything for free, just wanted to get the correct order. The rest of our food was good, but this experience makes it easy for us to decide we won't be going back. read more

This is my favorite place for lunch in York. The sriracha wings are outstanding, as are the flatbread pizzas.

The food might be kind of good, but in no way does that excuse rude service. Not only were they abrasive when I called in, they told me 30-45 minutes for a pick-up. When I arrived 55 minutes later (to ensure it would actually be ready), the rude woman at the register just barked at me, "20 more minutes". No apology, no nothing. Totally not worth it when there are not only restaurants with a better atmosphere and tastier food, but also have a staff that is actually welcoming and kind. Great food! Quesadilla, hot Italian sandwich, Caesar piadina were all delicious. Would have given more stars if our waitress was not so rude to us. We walked in and we're not sure if we were supposed to sit down at the table or order at the counter. She angry told us to sit and wait for her. Hard cider pizza was excellent! BBQ sauce had a little bit of heat but not excessive. Carmelized onions were a nice touch. Plus Y54 offers Arnold Palmers - my favorite. My wife ordered the Perfect 10 pizza which was also delicious and loaded with a variety of meats. Great value for the price. Server was friendly and regularly checked on us - plus refilled my Arnold Palmer and my wife's iced tea when needed. On the recommendation of a local dentist we stopped in last week for pizza. When it came, it was slightly charred on the bottom, so when the waitress came by to ask how everything was, we pointed that out to her. She immediately apologized and brought it to the attention of the owner, who also had made the pizza and explained that "He's a perfectionist and will make another pie." Additionally, the owner didn't want to charge us for the pizza at all, but we insisted on paying. It was absolutely delicious with a perfectly executed crust, lots of cheese and a flavorful tomato sauce base. The 54 salad was excellent with all kinds of stuff in it (organic field greens with 5 candied nuts and 4 fruits: almonds, walnuts, pecans, macadamia and cashews, apricots, pineapple, blueberries and cranberries) and the caesar salad was exactly the way it should be; crisp romaine, arugula, croutons, anchovies ($1 extra) and parmesan cheese. Tonight we went back for the same two salads, but this time shared the cauliflower gratin and got the roasted garlic and mushroom soup. Both were excellent. After having lived in Manhattan for 33 years and Boston for 4, I know good quality food that is expertly prepared, and York54 excels on all levels. And, I forgot to add, the waitstaff have been amazingly attentive and the prices are very modest. Can't wait to try some of the other offerings on the menu. read more

We are in York 2 or 3 times a year and always try to eat here. The food is made to order and the ingredients are fresh. They have a fairly diverse imaginative pizza, sandwich and salad menu, and we've never seen the same specials repeated. There are two sodas on tap and a lengthy bottle and canned beer and wine list. It's small with limited seating so don't be surprised if you have to wait a while to get a seat. In the three years we have been dropping by, the same two lovely ladies are the wait staff....says something about staff loyalty for a great product that's worth the wait! read more

Been there. I would say we know the owner, but that's just not really true. Fact is, Jason makes us feel like we've known him all along, but I turned onto York 54 after loving the coffee I got a couple of doors down at St. Joe's Coffee, which he also owns. In fact, that all occurred before he opened up York 54, but our high expectations were met! Same for First Hill, just a little further south on US Rt 1; Jason's latest and most ambitious endeavor yet. A great evening of fine dining there recently. Consistently great food! I've been going here sporadically for a couple years now since its out of my way. The food is always good! Try the pork loin sandwich with apples, arugula, and honey mustard. Great service! Love the outdoor seating. Really good flat bread, and the chicken (white meat - hand carved) was moist and tender. Yum!
