Had a lovely family dinner here the other night! Party of four on a Thursday night which is a busy night in Yorktown during the summer months because of their outdoor concert series. The place was already packed at 5:15 but we were able to snag one of the last tables. Food wise: Excellent: Potato skins, clam chowder, fried shrimp, fried scallops, hush puppies, fried fish and fries. Good: burger, Jamaica chicken sandwich, crab cake, cole slaw and potato salad. Beer. And more beer. But add in the food and then you have a pub. This pub was great they had regular tables, banquet type seating with padded seats, and then the bar tables where you sit up higher. Thankfully my friend and I were just two and we were able to get seated right away even there were a whole host of people waiting outside to be seated for luncheon. I had the Jamaica Jamaica chicken and boy was it yummy. They seasoned it really well and it had pineapple on it as well it's kind of like a burger type sandwich. My companion had shrimp and said it was just scrumptious and so are the french fries. They were hot and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. They had a whole array of beers. Service was really fine, the waitress was quite attentive even though it was kind of loud and crazy at lunchtime on a Saturday afternoon with everyone over at the beach. This pub is perfectly situated and if you do happen to get a window seat as we were fortunate to have, you're pretty much looking out right onto the Chesapeake bay and waterways. You could watch families gallivanting on the beach, and you're also right by the pier and you can watch the ships. We watched the ferry going across from one side over to Gloucester. For a busy area for tourists and local alike, there aren't a ton of restaurants in this area. After spending the day at the nearby, national historic sites, we were looking for a spot with a view, a beer, and a good meal. We were fortunate to snag a table on the patio, and our server was very sweet. I was very disappointed to see the kitchen staff smoking in the small walkway between the restaurant and the patio tables. Several workers from inside came out 3 separate times to smoke over the course of our meal that was less than an hour long. The food was decent. Pretty standard pub food. My mom really enjoyed her clam chowder, and the fried shrimp was quite good. If you're in the area and looking for a quick bite, this place was just fine. The inside ambience was very quirky and fun. A friend and I were there for lunch today. It was packed as usual and we were asked to wait about 15 outside prior to being seated. After being seated at the window our drink order was taken. A few moments later the drinks arrived and our food order was taken. I had a bowl of clam chowder and hush puppies as an appetizer and ordered a Ruben sandwich with fries for the main. The soup was hot and savory full of clam pieces and potatoes. It came with crackers, but I used bits of torn hush puppy in it. The rest I slathered in the butter provided. The sandwich was grilled and the sauerkraut was nice. Maybe it could have used a slice or two more of the meat, but was very good all the same. My friend had a burger and a beer and said his meal was "good." The serves came by the table a few times to see if we needed anything. We have both been here several times before and I will continue return whenever I'm in the area and have the time. The view out onto the water is nice too! read more

It has the feel of a pub with multiple TV's which were playing football games. It has a bar and all tables feel bar or pub like. The walls are full of fun fisherman decor. The food had full flavors. The gumbo was surprisingly great! I was a fan of the blackening flavors. My husband got the crab cake and it was huge. It is good pub food, but does have a touristy price tag. Sunday last week was one of those days that we just got in the car and drove. We drove towards Yorktown. We stopped at one of the pull offs nearby and explored the area. Of course all that exploring brought on an appetite. We decided on Yorktown Pub. We drove to Yorktown Pub. There happen to be an event going on when we were there. But, we were lucky that we found parking just near the front door and only waited 5-10 min for seating. The interior seemed a little cramped, but we were seated at a booth which made it feel less cramped. There is plexiglass separating the booths in front and behind you. It really made me wonder what it was like before covid. Our waitress was as attentive as she can be she had multiple tables. The menu had many choices to choose from. With it being called a pub I was kinda hoping for some pub like food but it was more like a oceanfront pub with seafood options. The options on the menu were good though. My son got the chicken fingers from the kids menu. They were decent size and delicious. My daughter opted for the BLT, and she had no complaints. With the help of the waitress I got the 1/2 portion of the fried shrimp. It was delicious and flavorful. My salad was ok. The cucumbers were dry on it along with the green pepper slice. It was as if it was old veggies or it had been made a day prior. The baked potato was ok. It was kinda rushed out because somewhere there was a mix ups All in all our meal was good. This is a spot I've walked by countless times strolling the Yorktown waterfront I finally decided to try them out for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised by the bar food and that is not an insult. I had the crab cakes that were delicious I remember telling my Wife that'll be hard for me not to order it again if we come back. She had the flounder and loved it and let me tell you she's not easy to please with her fish. Met up with former coworkers at the Yorktown Pub and it was a good choice. Ordered the Rachel untoasted and it was fantastic. The thousand island dressing was perfect with the turkey and rye. The fries were crispy and the perfect side to the sandwich. Excellent friendly service. Saw they had a bottle of EH Taylor and Henry McKenna 10 year behind the bar. We were excited to see that it was right on the beach and there was an outdoor patio with barely anyone out there. We ordered the fish and chips, some shrimp and a salad.. which were actually pretty good. It's just a shame that the food came with the most bizarre and humiliating interaction with the manager. It was a hot day, so I took the straps off my jumpsuit and tucked them into my bralette. As I was waiting for my meal, the manager came to our table and asked me to pull up my shirt. Yes, you read that correctly. Pull. Up. My. Shirt. I was completely taken aback and asked her to repeat herself, thinking I must have misheard. She said that someone complained. I'm not sure I believe that, but okay... This was in front of my husband and my mum, both of whom were shocked at what had just happened. I'm honestly not a confrontational person, and I just froze and adjusted myself. I felt humiliated, and I still can't believe that someone complained about how I was dressed. The experience felt very violating, offensive, and frankly, pretty creepy. Especially considering this pub is 10 feet from the beach, folks are walking around in bikinis, and many of the waitresses were wearing booty shorts and tank tops (no judgement, just a bit hypocritical). I will never set foot in your establishment again, and I strongly urge others to stay far away. No meal is worth this kind of backwards misogyny. read more

This was our first time in this beautiful beach area. Between its neighboring restaurants, we are satisfied with our choice. Yelp and Google reviews helped. Outdoor and indoor seating is available as well as a beautiful bar area. There are booths tables available for dining and then picnic like tables outdoor. The inside is very pub like and the decor celebrating the veteran services are lovely. This was a nice causal environment. They were moderately busy ( Tuesday at 3ish) but we were fortunate to not have to wait. The waitresses were all accommodating, personable, and professional. We were addresses in a timely manner and she apologized for any delay she did mention to us prior to helping other customers out. The food was great for our experience. I ordered a burger and Jamaica chicken sand-which with fries. The bacon is AMAZINg and the fries were our favorite, crinkle fries. We tried the crab bites and were glad we did, they were yummy. Price: the prices were $-$$$ because they do serve seafood. Generally, seafood is always pricey , here was 18-30$ and market price too. Perhaps next time I may try their seafood quality because it did look tempting. I also had their onion rings which were tasteful as well! Overall, for price and convenience, this is a pretty solid spot. Again, we were in debate with the other restaurants on the strip and we chose this based on pricing and other reviews. After touring the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown everyone was in need of some refreshment. We settled on the Yorktown Pub because of the Yelp 3.5 stars rating and I wish we hadn't. Although the servers were friendly and quick and we were seated quickly there is no atmosphere and the food is incredibly disappointing. The atmosphere can best be described as "frat house meets greasy spoon" The "fresh catch of the day" was mahi-mahi that had obviously been frozen. The fries accompanying it were obviously frozen crinkle cut that they didn't even take the trouble to crisp up in the deep fryer but probably shoved in the oven given the lack of color and completely unappealing mushy texture. The burger buns were also clearly the cheapest they could lay their hands on and stale to boot. The serving sizes of the protein were minuscule (6 tiny scallops and a bunch of mushy fries for $17?!). The burger patties were flavorless. I could go on but I'm sure you get the idea. I don't like to give negative reviews but when you pay $80 (with tip for the waiters because this isn't their fault) there needs to be a reckoning. This place is way overpriced and lacking in any kind of food quality. They should be ashamed of themselves ripping off customers like this! Service was slow and our waitress constantly forgot things like when two of us ordered another round and she'd only bring back one, or when asked for a side of tartar sauce and malt vinegar and she brought us ranch?!?! My wife and I love this little hole in the wall. They always make you feel like a local even if you're not. We feel like locals because Yorktown feels like home. The food is so good, and the service is great and quick. We have had several different things and not a single thing to say negative about any of it.
