This branch of Yoshinoya is testing the limits of CA Attorney General Bonta in regard to junk fees. Coupon or no coupon, you will be charged extra $1.50 + tax per order of the beef. I ordered in Santa Clarita and several other branches in West Covina for the same item but without the extra junk charges. Comparing the totals with junk fees, I was charged an additional $3.41 for my order. Yoshinoya is contributing to the demise of our society. The counter attendant has to lie real hard to customers. Upon confronting him about the charges, he lied more. I feel bad that Yoshinoya is allowing this kind of culture. I will push for the Atty General to watch out for this branch in Palmdale and another one, in Lancaster come the passing of the law in July. Yoshinoya brings back a nostalgic feeling of when I was younger and my parents would take me there for a quick lunch after school. It's been years ever since, so felt it was time to go back. The cashier was super polite and refreshed my memory on their menu. I had brought with me some coupons to use, 2 original bowls for $10.49. The cashier let me know the beef was an extra $1.25, which is so strange because the Yoshinoyas down below never charge extra for beef. Beef is like their signature item, how is it possible they charge extra for beef? It is NOT sirloin or anything like that. But whatever I agreed to pay the extra amount. Total came out to be almost $17 for two regular beef bowls, no drinks, no dessert or anything. In my opinion this is very pricey for fast food, a million times I prefer Panda Express. What's the use of coupons if your total almost comes out to regular price. It is also very misleading how they should specify the hidden fee for beef or only advertise "chicken bowl". Furthermore, the "steamed" veggies were really over cooked and mushy, ordered their new udon noodles and it was just bits and pieces of it. I haven't been to yoshinoya in a little over 15yrs and it definitely was not what I remember. I was very disappointed the beef was dry and every thing lacked seasoning The tempura chicken was dry and the didn't add any sauce over the chicken to give it some moisture. The also charged .55 for each teriyaki sauce which I wouldn't even be mad at if they would just sauce the plate properly. The pot stickers were ok but the dipping sauce was a hard no I spent over $50 and it wasn't worth it also there packaged ginger was bright pink now that's just crazy. Honestly, I love eating Yoshinoya. It really gives me a nostalgic feeling eating this. It's probably because my parents had me eating it when my siblings and were kids. I visit this location quite often and haven't had the chance to review it yet. I usually order a large combo beef and teriyaki chicken bowl, but lately I've been getting their tilapia and shrimp options. Usually without rice and more veggIes, however when I am feeling indulgent, I either get white rice or the not-so-fried rice. Oh and btw they have their seasonal orange chicken right now that's the bomb! I recommend trying this! Service: I usually try to beat the rush and get here early or after 7. However even, if it is busy, I get my food pretty quickly. I love the idea of fast and fresh take out! Parking: large parking lot. I live on the East Coast and was in Palmdale for eight weeks for work. there is no beef bowl where I live, but since I lived in Los Angeles for several years in the 90s, I love this place. This particular location was right next to the hotel that I've been staying at and the employees that I've met in the course of this eight weeks have been outstanding in every way. They were professional. They were kind they laughed my extremely stupid jokes, Katie, especially was kind to me and I am relentlessly grateful. I don't remember everyone's name who I met there but to a person every single one made my time in Palmdale so much better and I appreciate it . When I was charged 19.15 and saw I was being charged extra for beef, the rep at the window Isabel said beef was extra, HUH? The coupon said there would be an up charge for extras and if I added shrimp I would understand but if it is extra for your basic 2nd item the coupon should say 2 large chicken bowls for 14.99. There was no two items in the combo that would not be an up charge. The manager at the window said the same as Isabel and beef was extra on each plate 1.25. Yoshinoya is a delicacy to me as there are none nearby where I live, so to see one close to where I was visiting for the holidays was nice. But beyond that, it's nothing special. $10+ for a large rice bowl with chicken that was mostly rice. It was quality food and it was truly delicious, but idk if I could justify the amount of chicken for that price. You could get more protein from nearby restaurants for the same money. Also worth noting their signature dish, gyudon, has a 1.50 up charge. Overall, you're paying for what the same amount of food as a 1 item bowl, plus a little extra for the Yoshinoya name. read more
