I am so happy to have discovered You Send Me. I fear telling people about how great the service is because I don't want it to become overcrowded like all the other options. Great things about this place is that you are given multiple options of sending. One time I needed to ship a package to the East Coast and found out it was cheaper with FedEx than USPS, which I wouldn't have assumed. They also have temporary parking exclusively for them so I always feel confident that I won't have to spend a lot of time looking for parking. All the staff couldn't be nicer or more helpful. I needed to notarize, scan, and email a document. I had to wait maybe five minutes behind another customer, but I didn't mind because I could see that Lucas, the staff person, was working as quickly and efficiently as possible. The two staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. It cost $10 for the notarization, and $5 for the scanning and emailing (4 pages). I would come here again. Great place! The girl was super nice and helpful. I came in right after 6 and asked if they were closed, they were but she was still willing to help me out. I just had a couple things to mail out, she helped me get quotes from USPS, FedEx and UPS. And then also suggested using USPS priority mail if I could fit everything in the envelope. I was doubtful that I could fit all the junk into it, but she even helped me put everything in there. Totally went above and beyond, she didn't need to help me do that. Plus the store was technically closed. Anyways, I was in and out within 5 minutes. But they're really cool, I'm definitely coming here again if I need to ship or mail anything. I work down the street from YSM and I go there for all of my shipping, mailing, and packaging needs- even though USPS is around the corner. I would give it 5 stars, if it weren't for one strange experience I had there. I was being helped by a young woman when the owner came over and snapped, "Don't do that! She's not important!" Another employee muttered, "You just called a customer not important." I was shocked by the experience and did not say anything at the time. The following two days I visited the store to have a talk with the owner about the interaction, she wasn't there. I didn't go for a few weeks and then figured it was too late. That interaction is often in the back of my mind when I go there, but I do believe that it is a strong, small business and I like to support it. read more

Love this place! I drop off all of my packages here - fedex, ups, even USPS. Yesterday, after dropping off a package, I received a call from the owner saying that I had accidentally printed out the same shipping label twice for 2 different packages. She offered to stay open late so that I could come make the label swap after work. I have been coming here for years! They are the best kept secret in North Berkeley. They have a few small but creatively re-use parking places directly to the left of the front door. They keep your addresses on file when you mail things - which I love so I don't need to route around the house looking for addresses. They are fast, friendly, and efficient. They help creatively solve shipping problems at as low a cost as possible. they sell supplies you might need and are open to re-using and taping up old packaging you bring in. WOW! Fast, easy, convenient. I was disappointed when i went to A-1 on University to get something notorized. I was in a hurry and was told that the notary stepped out for 15 min. Maybe that is a reasonable time to wait but it annoyed me. I called You Send Me before I left my house to be sure their notary would be available when I planned to stop in. They informed me that they have TWO notaries. What a concept. There is 5 min free street parking and plenty of toll parking in a quiet part of north berkeley neighborhood. Connie just saved me a world of grief! I'm writing from vacation in Berlin. It's a long story, but I unknowingly traveled to Europe on a passport that I had reported lost (and later found) two years ago. Unfortunately, that's the passport I picked up when I was packing. I got as far as Stockholm where they stopped me. My life passed before my eyes when they told me what the problem was, but a kind customs agent let me continue to Berlin. I knew where my valid passport was at home. A friend took it to YouSendMe. I'd already had a nice phone conversation and exchanged emails with Connie. The day she got it she even stayed late to make sure it went out that day. She sent me all the information I needed to pick it up at DHL here in Berlin with no problem whatsoever. I went in at almost 6 pm but the lady who helped me, Connie, understands how urgent my situation is and stayed almost half an hour after the store closed just to assist me. I used to swear by You Send Me and always used it over the post office. But this past year they steered me wrong twice--and two times is my limit. The last time I brought in an item (in its original unopened packaging) for mailing, the owner looked over the package for any previous mailing stickers that she said might cause confusion, and then the clerk took over the mailing process. The clerk said the box was just a box for retail sales and not for mailing; I questioned it since I recalled receiving a same type of item from company in the mail; the clerk responded adamantly that the packaging was different and that I must package it in a packing box; the owner was next to her & said nothing--so I went ahead & bought the packing box (just as thick as the item's box!) and packaging process. It doubled my mailing costs. When I got home I emailed HP and asked them if they used different packaging for items sold at the Apple store than for mailing and they said the packaging was the same, I later checked the box that I had previously rec'd an item from HP in the mail, & it was the same heavy cardboard.... This is the second time this friendly (yup, I gotta say she is very friendly & efficient) clerk has steered me toward incurring higher mailing costs. I suggest, if possible, you only deal with the owner; or, use one of the post offices on Solano Ave. (not as much service as You Send Me, but it's a lot cheaper). read more

Ugh. I had the worst experience here. These people seem really nice at first, but then, after you sign up they turn on you with rudeness and hidden charges. They had agreed to call me when boxes came in, but then didn't. So when I called to find out if I had any boxes, the owner said that for the trouble to walk over and look she would charge me an additional $5.00 (and their shop is only about 10 feet long)! After that, I decided to move my business to another, kinder postal annex. I paid through the end of the month to make a smooth transition with my mail. When my paycheck came in DURING that month, they said that I could pick it up for a $5.00 non-box-holder charge, even though I had paid up through the end of the month!!! After the month was up, they accepted a shipment for me. No surprise: I got another call saying that I could come pick it up - for another $5.00 fee. Eek! Me think not... read more

My mom came to your offices yesterday with a package she needed to return to Evans, GA. You charged her $21 to send it via UPS. The merchandise was only worth $25! You should be ashamed of yourselves for taking advantage of a woman on a fixed income by putting your business model above your responsibility to advise customers of the most cost effective way to ship, including the suggestion that a trip to the USPS might be a better choice. read more

Connie the owner couldn't be nicer, more helpful or knowledgeable. She's really a great local small business owner. However, I brought some boxes to ship (USPS priority mail) and the prices were nearly double of what the post office would charge me. I was stunned. I would say if you have a lot of boxes to mail, this may not be the best option- super expensive. I took the same boxes to office depot and they had similar services (many different shipping choices and pricing) but for at least 30% less than what You Send Me was quoting. I've also used Connie for notary services with no problem. read more

They were nice guys, but they botched the notary. First, he asked me a lot of questions about the document we were signing (setting up a DBA account) and I had to try to interpret the legal language with him--which isn't terrible, but I sort of felt uneasy that he wasn't positive what to do. Then, I got an email from LegalZoom (who I was sending the notarized document to) saying that it would be rejected by the clerk's office because the notary was done incorrectly (he signed his name in addition to putting his stamp). I called YouSendMe and asked that they PayPal me a refund and they were nice and confused as to why LegalZoom rejected it. read more

Can't find a better alternative, so I've hesitated to write this review, but if you're considering using them for business or other time-sensitive things, you might appreciate knowing this: Friendly people. BUT they've made more than the average number of mistakes. They've lost my forwarding notes a couple times, causing delay in bill payments, and gotten me mixed up with other customers. Plus it turns out they charge double the P.O. rate for forwarding packages -- so if the P.O. rate is $20 they charge $40 . . . plus their $3 fee. Doesn't matter if the instructions are given in person, over the phone, or by e-mail -- still get mix-ups. read more

They provide amazing service. I've couriered stuff and had documents notarized here. They are very fast and professional. I actually find couriering stuff through them to be even better than FedEx/UPS directly because they actually send you email alerts as your package is picked up form the store and delivered to the destination.
