I gave them one star only because 0 stars was not an option. Very disappointing experience with Young Electric. I scheduled electrical work and paid a $505 down payment by credit card. I had to cancel the appt two weeks in advance, before any work was performed, and I was told I would receive a full refund. What followed was weeks of unanswered emails, repeated follow-ups, and multiple promises that the refund would be processed "soon" or by a certain date. After filing a dispute with my credit card company, I decided to give them one more opportunity to resolve the issue directly. I called and was told the appropriate person was in a meeting and would return my call. Believing the matter was finally being handled, I canceled the dispute. Unfortunately no call ever came. After calling back again and continuing to get nowhere, I had to reopen the dispute. It has now been over 4 1/2 weeks, and they still have not reimbursed my down payment despite no work being performed and no materials being provided. Extremely poor communication and follow-through. It is unfortunate that keeping a customer's money appears to have mattered more than protecting the company's reputation. read more

They were one of the companies doing work through Portland General and initially replaced our mast and meter, installed a new outside box, inside 100a panel, and EV charger. They coordinated everything and the when the inspector stopped by he complimented the quality of their work. I've since hired them twice, once for a remodel and recently for an repair. In all cases their electricians were good communicators who showed up fast and did excellent work at a fair price. Definitely would recommend. read more

Made an appointment with them, I should have known not to give my credit card number to prepay. They changed the appointment once, and then again. When I called to cancel they said sure, we'll refund your card, minus the 10% cancellation fee - about $17. I know I'll never try to use them again. read more

Do not use Young Electric We had nothing but issues with them when they did something wrong and would ask them to fix it. And they did a lot of thing wrong is all I can say The workers did complain that it is a not to good of a company to work for and the Foreman took full advantage of it. Told the apprentice what to do. Did not check the work and got a lot wrong that they will now not fess up too and fix. Please do use a different company than this one to save you trouble! read more

Electric work seems to be done well, fast, and pricing was more reasonable than some other places, but called me 3 times for payment immediately after job was finished, then didn't hear from them for over a week and had to call 3 times to get the inspection scheduled which felt very unprofessional. Also broke an interior shelf during the job and didn't say anything but at least vacuumed the area. read more

Returned customer here. Paid almost $900, and required half of amount for deposit, in order to Scheduled the installation in two weeks. The technician showed up on time. This time they didn't install the outlet upside down. The red arrow was the first attempt but failed, so the technician put an cover over it. Except cosmetic of the work, I would recommend their service. read more

When I book a service I look for people who actually care and show it. If I am going to pay for someone to do a service in my home it's going to be with someone who makes me feel like it's worth my money. This was not. My fiancé and I are an LGBT couple and from the moment he showed up my fiancé said he was trying to race out the door. As my fiancé put gave off homophonic vibes from the moment they opened the door. I was able to overhear everything since I was just in the other room working. They were not even here 5 mins, told us to open the wall take a picture and they will send us a quote. And then left. People take time out of their day for appointments. My fiancé works graveyard and stayed up so we could do that appointment. It was seriously a joke and I will make sure to pass the word along. read more

We did our research and obtained bids in the kind of daunting process of selecting a company to do extensive electrical work in our home. What a great good fortune that we selected Young Electric. The office staff were understanding and very good at listening and accommodating our situation. Our electricians, Jordan and Scott, were professional and skilled. They communicated clearly throughout the job, so important when, for example , "surprise" wires were discovered! They respected our home, were very neat, and minimized the time we needed to be sans electricity. I can highly recommend Young Electric. read more

The workmanship was good. But the price was astronomical! I had a Tesla wall charger installed and basically it came to $390 per hour for labor and $170 for parts and permit I furnished the $500 Tesla charger. That's $950 for the installation which took less than two hours. This was a simple install w/ 30 ft of easy to install conduit and a double 50 amp breaker. And to top it off the technician Thomas said he did not know how to set up the wall charger. Turned out that it was set too high and it overloaded the car and I had to call Tesla to reset the circuit to 40 amps Instead of 50 A. I thought because Youngs Electric installed tesla wall chargers they would have all the knowledge to hook this thing up, however I was incorrect. read more

Young Electric entirely exceeded my expectations. I've already begun recommending them to friends and family, and if anything comes up in the future they will be my first call. I had spoken with another company that was slightly cheaper who skimmed over their pricing at the end of our call. When I consulted with Young's they addressed pricing directly after we discussed my needs and then outlined it all in their follow-up email the moment we got off the phone. It's the reason I chose to work with them - they instilled trust right off the bat. Oleg arrived on time and noticing I had light carpet, offered to remove his shoes which I so appreciate because I always feel terrible having to ask that of folks. He got right to work and was so fast - had my heaters fixed in a flash. I had a follow-up concern after he left and the owner returned my call within minutes and genuinely wanted to put my mind at ease. He sent Darin to my place the same day and he found the issue instantly and made the repair quickly for no extra charge. Added bonus - Darin is probably one of the nicest people I've ever met. Not sure what rating to give them honestly. All the technicians have been very friendly and seem to do well. My biggest gripe is that they did not let us know or were clear how big of an electrical panel they would put on the front of the house. I assumed it would just be like the old one but it is an eyesore. Since I know nothing about the electricity (which is why we hired them) you would think it would be a thing to mention when setting it up. read more

I've used Young Electric twice now and they were great both times. We had an intermittent failure of some hallway lights in the back of our old 1920's home. When Brandon from Young Electric showed up, the problem stopped and the lights were working perfectly. But instead of just charging us and leaving, Brandon did a general inspection of our wiring and gave us some advice that was hugely helpful! He also said that if our lights give us trouble again, he would be happy to check again as a follow-up to our existing appointment. Later, we called Young Electric to upgrade the old plugs in our attic bedrooms to modern, 3-prong plugs. Since our house was old and we didn't want to rip all the walls open, Lalo the electrician offered to run a new circuit up to the attic through an outside conduit. But he also told us that we could just install GFCI plugs in our bedroom outlets instead of rewiring everything and it would be just as safe and up to code. In the end we agreed to the GFCI upgrade as it was a lot cheaper and required a lot less work. They did a great job and even cleaned up the mess after. All in all, very professional and helpful. read more

Sad to have to update my previous 5-star review. On our most recent call the electrician and his assistant refused to wear masks inside our house. They claimed they were both vaccinated, and since we were also vaccinated they said there was nothing to worry about. I disagreed. The electrician added that he hated to wear a mask while working and asked if I knew how inconvenient it felt to wear one. Throughout our conversation he was dismissive and beligerent. I told them that if they wouldn't wear masks they couldn't come inside my house. After a fifteen-minute argument the electrician finally agreed to come inside, masked, while the assistant worked outside on a porch light, maskless. The pair performed the necessary work, and after they left we spent a good half hour airing out our house with fans and disinfecting the areas where they worked since we had no guarantee that their claims that they'd been vaccinated were true. Even as he walked out to his car the electrician continued griping about the wearing of masks, saying that the government was responsible for spreading false fears about the virus. I told him that had the previous government taken the virus more seriously maybe today we wouldn't be in such a mess. (Like many, I have friends who've died of Covid, and my brother-in-law, fully vaccinated, was just diagnosed with Covid's latest variant.) Up until now I've liked Young Electric but I'll use them again only if they can absolutely assure me that the worker(s) they send to my home will have reasonable respect for the customer and their safety. Later I called Young Electric and talked to a manager, who took the time to listen to my concerns and on behalf of the company apologized. read more

Young electric installed a 100 amp subpanel in my detached garage feeding a 40 amp car charger and a new branch circuit with lights and receptacles. This required trenching for a buried line from the main house, removal of the old overhead 15 amp line and reconfiguration of the meter base. The communication during the project and the quality of the finished work was top notch and the cost was very reasonable considering the amount of work. Excellent service and highly recommend! Very responsive when I called to get a quote for a fan installation in our great room. The team answering the phone was friendly and quickly scheduled an appointment. Appointment confirmation and reminders were sent (little details matter). The technician that came out was fair in the evaluation of our project and let us know what needed to be done to ensure the work was within city code (other companies did not do this!). Cost was fair and work was covered with their warranty. Quickly got appointment for installation (no waiting weeks) and the electrician was excellent. Covered all carpet surfaces and was quick with the installation (others said full day, they were done in ~3 hours!). Will definitely use this company again. They kept bumping up the price and changing what they were saying - telling me that what they were doing was necessary- I finally had enough and suspended the project, but was out 6K. Later have found out, when picking up the project again that none of the work they did for the 6K was necessary, and they did nothing to solve the original reason i requested their service- This kind of thing should not happen with decent, ethical companies. read more

I the beforetimes it was a challenge when you needed an electrician. Let me just say it all...I am female so getting a reliable person to help can be challenging. I grew up with parents who remodeled houses and were very hands on with everything. I can drywall and do a lot of things on my own and I grew up watching people who were pros at plumbing and electrical. Basically I have enough knowledge so I have a grasp of the workings and such but I am not into pretending to be a surgeon when I am not. With that said, most people assume A LOT because I am female. I am very grateful it happens less but it does still happen. The previous owner of my house knew just enough about carpentry to be a danger to the house and I have repaired a lot but every once in awhile some weird hidden "thing" pops up...or fizzles. So, thanks to Covid-19 (not really...but let's blame it anyway!) I had a short which darkened 1/3 of my house. Thankfully the appliances and everything actually vital were on separate breakers but lights are missed when you don't have them. Bathing by candlelight was great for a night....Sunday night when it happened. So I ask around for recommendations and I call the first three. #1 doesn't answer or call me back. #2 goes on (at great length) about their pricing etc and when I ask when they will be coming out they give me the between 1pm and 4.... I was grateful and said I would arrange to be home the next day to which they laughed saying...February 3rd. I was speaking to them on January 4th. I called Young Electric and was very grateful when the very warm and friendly party who answered said they had a cancellation for the next day! I was less nervous and more towards the grateful and shocked side. Ok, pro tip guys...when you fry your electric...try to do it closer towards summer when the electricians are less busy! All I know is that the gent who came by was AMAZING! From the start - super nice, listened to me and asked great questions - super efficient and really found the problem super fast. It was helpful that I did remodel the whole house so I have seen enough of the little "additions" to know where things might be. Also, I want and need to replace my whole panel (another of their...ahem...messes) but when I had an electrician take a gander eons ago the insanity they told me ...unhelpful. I got a genuine quote sent to me a few days later after my service like he said he would write up for me. He was amazing and it is really nice to have a company and representative I can count on for great work at a reasonable price which, yes folks, sorry but electrical is EXPENSIVE. These folks make a lot per hour because they are tackling something you have to be skilled and licensed in. We all hear genuine horror stories though with people who just do not care or take their sweet time racking up the per hour. It is such a relief knowing I have a place I can count out in a pinch and also to get a few of my house goals tackled as well! read more

Let me begin with customer service, I called for a quote and immediately I was impressed with the service level. They sent someone out and walked the property and inspected each electrical panel. It's something to be said about inspecting, I had other companies come out and look at the panel but did not inspect it. We knew there were issues with the wiring since it was on the home purchase inspection as a problem. Young electric identified the problem immediately. The work involved several coordinated trips to the house. The first was to route electricity to the gates. That was accomplished without any issues within a hour. (Adam) The second trip was to replace one electrical panel while removing the sub panel added by the previous owner. This is where wth work really became interesting. Nothing was marked in the panels so it was a search and find mission. Mark handled it without sweating or missing a beat. The third trip was to replace the second panel. It was great to have Mark follow up on this as there were noncode wires running through the box. His knowledge from the previous panel helped sort out the mess in the second panel. The last trip was to finalize the electricity to the gates. The new gate motors were installed and now we needed to trace the electricity from the panel to the outdoor outlet to the gate motors. Where we thought it would be a full day process, Mark knocked it out in a few hours. Young Electric will be my go to team for all of my electrical needs here in Portland. read more

Oleg and his assistent arrived when they were scheduled and were very willing to answer some questions I had. The cost was very reasonable. Breanna and Nate were great to work with, also. When I think about the new panel in my house it brings a smile to my face knowing the upgrade is safe and also looks good (a lot better than the old one). Had a Tesla wall charger installed as well as a GFCI outlet for a bidet. Really liked that we could communicate via text/email/pictures to get a reliable bid without an additional visit; its tough to coordinate being at home when the work is done, and saving the extra appointment was nice, though this may not work in everyone's situation. They gave me a quote over the phone, but let me know that depending on much line they would have to run would dictate my final bill. With Young's Electric , right from the first phone call you could tell you were about to feel a whole lot better , I mean this , and then - same day - We met Josh, first, he talked to us and treated us like family, just so approachable and pleasant ,second, he used our names, made efforts call PG&E and do what was needed right away. From the start, we wanted to pick this company having already had a few companies come out, we had the phone call , met Josh and that was it . We didn't wait long and on our appointment day we then got the pleasure of meeting Mark and Danny- just wow - We got great service , conversation when we initiated it and a real nice attitude from both men. They never hung out together . One, Danny, was diligently working under the house and Mark was just a pleasant, positive man inside working who loves his family and his job!! - go figure ! We told these men ,we could tell ,that, 'who ever owns your company makes sure to hire really 'good' people, you all have been so nice and efficient. We experienced some issues with our recent Young Electric service call in January 2019. I thought it was worth sharing since after providing the below feedback to them but received no acknowledgement of steps being taken on corrective action. 1. Poor timing on scheduled appt. The technician was scheduled to arrive at 2pm on a Monday as noted in their text messaging system. Then I get a text from the technician that he's on his way at 11:30am, so I reminded him that we are on for 2pm and that no one is home at 11:30AM. He confirmed back for 2pm, but then didn't show up until 4pm. 2 hours later than scheduled time. 2. Lack of focus during service call: During the service call in our home, the technician spent time on his phone with his spouse dealing with personal issues, while working in our house installing light fixtures. Then, during a bathroom light install above the sink, he dropped a screw into the sink and he couldn't retrieve it so it remained in the trap valve. As a result, in trying to retrieve it, the drain stop was disconnected and the porcelain sink was scratched with his screwdriver. My wife told him to just leave the screw down in the drain trap. In addition, when installing a new breaker in our panel, the technician didn't check to see if it worked for upstairs circuit leaving the upstairs rooms without electricity upon leaving. We had to troubleshoot the cause ourselves to reconnect the upstairs area to electricity. Summary: All in all, not a good experience with Young Electric on this service call. And when we shared the feedback with the office staff, there was no response or feedback acknowledging our input. While we were happy with the Tesla outlet install that they did for us last year, this recent service call by Young Electric was pretty disappointing and I thought I'd share it for others. We will no longer ask them to come out to our home. read more

After having another certified Tesla installer quote over $4200 to install the Wall charger and install it over 50 ft from the panel, the folks at Young Electric quoted doing the same work for 1/3 the price. When the installers arrived they realized there was a much easier way to do it and we ended up paying a little over $1000. So refreshing to have capable, polite people charging a very fair price for their work. We recommend them highly. read more

We loved Young Electric! They were referred to us by our friend who recently had a plug in electric outlet installed in their garage. We just bought a Tesla and also needed a garage outlet to charge our car. Thanks to young electric the whole process took around 1 hour and they cleaned up after they were finished. In fact, I think they left my garage cleaner than when they arrived!
