The girl who would do my scrubs was not assigned to me one time, and I got assigned a different girl who did not tend to me like the girl I had always come to. For instance, towards the end of my scalp scrub, the girl I always went to would leave me for roughly 10 minutes and join the steam bubble they encapsulate your head in for ultimate relaxation. But when I got assigned to a different girl, she did not provide this service, and when I asked about it, she said "I did steam your hair." But it was just with the handheld steamer. She did not encapsulate my head in the steam bubble contraption, which I was disappointed about because that was literally one of the highlights of the appointments. But then fast forward and the last time I went was December 2024 and I haven't been back. I'm not sure why the salon changed everything but now they cater more to nails than hair, which is confusing because it is still called Pure Hair Spa. Now the singular hair station is in the very back. When they used to be multiple hair stations right up front. And I used to be put in a nice spacious room for my appointment, but when I went in December 2024, I was put in a room the size of a closet. It was borderline claustrophobic how tiny/cramped it was. I know that they always provided nail services, but the scope of the salon has completely changed from when they opened, and now the nail stations have taken the place of the hair stations in the front. So I guess if you want to get your nails done, this is the spot to come to.

I came in specifically for a consultation and service regarding sew-in wefts, wanting to switch to a thinner weft method. Instead of listening, Emily repeatedly insisted that I didn't have enough hair for extensions and pressured me to shave my head for a glued topper. (I have since consulted three other Bay Area extension specialists, and all three confirmed I have plenty of hair for thinner wefts.) When I refused to shave my head, she pushed a clip-in topper priced at $X,XXX, which I later discovered retails elsewhere for roughly $650. During that same visit, she cut my existing extensions far too short. We nonetheless placed an order for the new thinner wefts. On installation day, the newly ordered wefts arrived in completely the wrong color due to a lack of proper color swatches during our initial consultation. Most frustratingly, I explicitly requested from my very first booking that only Emily perform the work, as I was paying for senior-level expertise. Instead, she handed me off to an assistant to reinstall my old wefts, then acted as though waiving the reinstallation fee was a favor--even though the reinstallation was only necessary because of her initial color-matching mistake. Within 48 hours, the tension and pain from the assistant's installation became severe. Another salon had to perform an emergency removal, documenting visible scalp redness, tension, and inflammation (see attached photo). When I reached out to Emily regarding the severe pain and improper tension, there was zero concern for my scalp health or safety. Instead of checking the work, she responded with immediate hostility, condescension, and intimidation. Her direct text response: "Where are you at? I need to come and have a face-to-face conversation with you and this is not gonna go back-and-forth. Vxxxxx would not be on my schedule if she did not do good work. If she placed them too lightly, you would complain they're getting loose and falling out of your head and causing hair loss also if theres room to pull, do you understand me? It is not rocking science to learn how to do this on a doll head for six months straight. She does the same work I do. She does not want them to fall out of your head. Because then your issue would be a different issue they're falling out and you wanna come back and have them replaced. Unless you're gonna come in and have a face-to-face conversation, I do not expect to hear another text back from you. Thank you for your understanding. Lastly, I don't need to hear your rationalization about how long someone should be practicing one service in your eyes to be good at what they do. She's doing my work exactly as I've trained her to do for over six months on a doll head. Thank u and good bye" Final takeaway: While I initially booked here based on many positive reviews, my experience proved that true professionalism isn't measured when things go smoothly, it is measured by how a business responds when something goes wrong. When a client explicitly requests an experienced senior stylist to avoid injury, handing them off to an assistant and justifying it by saying they 'practiced on a doll head' is completely unacceptable, especially when it results in real scalp inflammation and pain. When a client reports pain, demanding face-to-face confrontations, talking down to them, and issuing ultimatums is entirely unprofessional. Past good reviews never excuse hostility. Every client deserves respect, and client safety and consent must always come before ego.

I don't have enough hair for brow lamination and knew the best option for me would be PMU. I started searching on instagram for Bay Area brow artists and landed on Erita's inkscode studio page. Just by first impression, the work speaks for itself. You can tell that Erita is very passionate about her business and is a skilled pro artist. Seeing the before and after photos + videos definitely had me interested in getting nano brows done asap. Luckily for me, I had the amazing opportunity to be a model (on my birthday!) for Erita's 1 on 1 class with a student. Since it was a training session, the process did take about 6 hours to complete (normally takes 2-3 hours). As a model, you do have to be patient and understanding that Erita has to slow down to educate the student and allow them to get hands-on practice. If you ever have the chance to be a model and are concerned about trusting the student, I will say that Erita works on about 95% of your brows. She did go over the students work and made necessary corrections if needed. My overall experience was wonderful! If I could give 10 stars I would. Erita was easy to communicate with via text and Instagram DM. Her personality is very friendly and relatable. She continues to further her own education and is a great teacher to others who want to start their PMU career. Erita is such a boss babe in her grinding era! After extensive research about microblading vs. ombre brows, I decided that ombre was what I felt was best for me and the look that I wanted. Making an appointment with Tina was so easy! She is very responsive to inquiries that I had prior to booking. Her dates available are quite limited as she's doing part-time only but she is worth waiting for. She doesn't stack her schedule which allows her plenty of time to work her magic without ever making you feel like she has to rush through to see her next client. Trust me, when you are having work permanently done on your face, you don't want someone to rush through the work. She is very detailed and takes her time, letting you know what to expect and verbalizing her process. I'm not gonna lie, the healing process is brutal. I didn't want to be seen in public for a few days. There were times where I was unsure if certain things were normal but Tina was always nice enough to respond to my texts every time to reassure me. I recently came in for my touchup and I thought it would be a quick appointment of her going over her previous work but she actually spent the time to remap and make sure everything was even and perfect. I walked out of there loving my new brows even more! Reasonable prices, amazing work and easy to talk to. She has exceptional infection control (I work in a dental office so I totally notice these things). Prior to starting, she showed me she was using a new unopened needle in which all her supplies was new and disposable. I highly recommend her if you are in search of someone for ombre brows!
