After doing the first service, my scalp got extremely inflamed, and the owner phil is trying to downplay the situation by saying this is normal even though when I showed my MD dermatologist, she said this is an extreme flareup. I then asked phil for a refund because I was not aware of the price increase and the fact that my dermatologist said the only things to help my scalp are the prescribed medication's. Where do I start...so much has happened. I began rapidly loosing my hair and thought I was seeking professional help with the Institute. After $2,884.25 I was not dealing with professionals. I waited 3 months for a so called 6 inch length HAIR TOPPER. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had to call to ask where it was...they kept me on hold for 10min then came back and said they found it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When I went to pick it up it was the wrong color even (after they took my hair samples) it was curly, dull and not 6 inches. It also had a strange odor! I told Angeline I was not happy with what I received for almost $3,000.00 she did try to add hi and lo lights but still not quite right. (I don't know where she got the hair for that) I asked to see a copy of the original order form and she said it was company property and did not give that out. Sounded fishy to me. I've showed the topper to 5 professionals in the business they all said I was over charged and taken advantage of my vulnerability. I have been with Newlook for 5yrs now and have been very happy with their service so far. Their hair products are one of the best and I can see a big difference in me ever since I started here. I went to New Look Institute due to my hair falling out, to work on rejuvenating my scalp and save my hair. Started out great but these past couple months I noticed excessive hair fall. When I first started going, Jasmin had worked on my scalp for the first 3 months and she was amazing. She went above and beyond to actually focus on the scalp (noticed lesser hair fall). [[HIGHLIGHT]]I went back the 4th month only to find out she was no longer working there and was given other stylists.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have nothing against those that work there, they are wonderful in their areas but I wasn't there to get hair styled, I was there to work on resolving my issue. These past 2 months, I began shedding more and noticed double the amount of hair fall in the shower. UM I was told by the 6 month I would notice little hair fall as I wash my hair. WRONG. They gave me products to use and had an allergic reaction to them. My scalp became very itchy (more than usual) and also scabby. They tried switching to other products but once again the same results. I was looking for a place for my daughter to donated her hair. She was ready for a hair cut. They send me a e-mail that gave and answer all my question at once. I called made an appt and at the appt they took care of everything. They send me confirmation e-mail and texts for the appt. They simply gave me the form to fill out for WIGS for kids donation place and they took care of the them to receive the hair donation. They took picture LOTS of picture of my daughter hair of the before and after . They made her feel good and assure her she was helping kids who had no hair because of their sickness. My daughter loved her hair cut and they styled it nicely for her. She loved the whole experience. Her hair cut was for FREE because she donated . I plan to take my youngest to donate but later when she older and her hair longer. I totally recommend this place. They also make wigs and help people with hair loss. read more

Had an amazing experience w Brook on Friday! A loved one is going through Chemo & we needed to go wig shopping! This place was on our list and we just popped in w no appt. Brook introduced herself and explained what they do at the new look institute. Turns out there was way more options than we even knew about. She was extremely sensitive to our situation and was very friendly. We tried on many wigs w her help and advice we ended up buying 2 really nice wigs. We had so many questions and she answered them all & never once made us feel rushed. The prices are great, there were plenty of options and the quality was amazing. Brook really made this horrible situation so much better. We actually had a really good time doing this while we had been dreading the day we needed to go wig shopping. Poor service, professionalism, and overpriced. When I went to pick up my topper, I was given the wrong color even though they took a sample of my hair. I was charged extra for their negligence. I called the place to adjust the clippers due to the poor adjustment of them. To this day I have not heard back from them. It's sad that they claim to be "professionals" to help customers with hair loss but rather take advantage of us. I started coming to New Look institute 2 months ago, when I felt I was really tired of my hair thinning after I had 5 kids. The price for the package is pretty high, but I think it worth it. First, Brook explained me how important is to have a clear scalp and how to use the Capillia products. After 1 month of the products daily usage and home laser treatment every other day I started with the salon treatments. My specialist is Jasmine, who is really sweet and professional. I want to start off by saying thank GOD I found New Look Institute!!!!!!! I have been living with severe hair lost for as long as I can remember!!!! It started when I was 13 and getting worse as life went on. I have gone through many treatments such an injections, cheap artificial hair pieces to human hair pieces. Though all that I had gone from clips to tape to finding Sima Hilde and he wonderful staff who by the way is extremely caring and just comforting to be around! I found NLI about 2 1/2 years back and am so grateful as a very active person love going hiking going to the gym biggie boarding doing marathons and so on! With all my other hair pieces I was never able to do much of that and I was always worried the tape would unstick and that my hair would fall off!! And beig a women of 27 years old now this all was very important to me! And talk about swimming being totally out of the question! Now with the help from Sima an her absolutly wonderful staff I can do all that!!! I love my hair and she works with me on cost which is not bad at all!!! It's just like going to get your hair done once a month! This establishment does do its job if you're going to go there every week and get your blood flowing in your scalp and if you have jasmine as your head treatment lady. However it's not an environment you want to spend time in or money with because,,,,, 1) I got tricked into getting a women's toupé by Kimiko who had a problem with me from the start and wanted to make a commission check 2) I started crying when I received the toupé because it was so useless since I'm 22 years old, and sima the owner completely insulted me telling me I did need it because of the way my body is shaped I need thicker hair, and that I was balding upon coming in here 3) they feed into your insecurities to make a check 4) way too expensive for the service they provide. I could have gotten my own laser machine for half the money I spent here. Exaggerated prices. I had used extensions for years and wanted to look into something like a hair topper since my thinning hair was on the top of my head. I had a lot of questions and she was super patient with me; answering every question. I was a person who needed help and Sima and her team welcomed me and took great care of me. I recently picked up my hair topper and I have to tell you "she" is gorgeous. When I saw my topper for the first time I was so happy with everything. The topper is beautifully made and sits perfectly on my head, it is light and comfortable and the clips lay perfectly flat; awesome!! I am giving this place one star for the owner. She was VERY sweet and caring. But mostly, A GREAT sales person. The reason why I am rating this place so low is because I felt taken forgranted. AND I WAS. This is a business and unfortunately, your on your own to determine which salon will provide you with the best quality. When researching - PLEASE TAKE YOUR time and if possible, ask around, go online, and research the salon before commiting to ANYONE and wasting so much money. I chose this place because I trusted the owner and felt most comfortable with her since I was extremely shy about my condition. I was hesistant to place my order in because of the price, the owner gave me her discounted price of "1,7000" for a 7 1/2 by 9inch upper crown piece. I had been going through some stress which had caused my hair to fall out on the upper crown. And for any woman that can be extremely embarrasing. The visit was great, she was welcoming and patient. She even showed me a book customers who ordered her hairpieces. The pictures of these customers seemed a bit outdated though... the process involved a private consultation to figure out what I wanted. She examined my scalp and showed me a few swatches that had hair samples. Some included highlights which looked beautiful. I decided to pick out a chestnut brown and add highlights to it. She took a measurement of my head and told me that the hair piece would be custom made and that it would look very natural since I had most of my hair at the time and blending was easier. I was scared and hesitent at first but decided that it was time to make a decision since I had been so tired of going to different salons for a hair piece. I decided to not pay in full because she was requesting "1,740" unfront which was her discounted price. I had only half of that available so I decided to make a 50% "non-refundable" down payment instead. I was told that the piece would take about 8 weeks to make and once it was shipped to them - that they would call me for my "installment" appointment. I came back about 10 weeks later and had the piece installed. The first thing I noticed was that the stylist didn't give me a chance to look at the piece, she worked very quickly. Washed my scalp and the piece but glue on it and placed it on me. I didn't have a chance to examine the piece closely but from the looks of it, it was full lace with a poly skin edge that would allow you to glue on the piece. The stylist cut my hair, left the lenghth on it and set me to go about an hour and a half later. Initially, I loved the new look... the problem was that when I came home. About 3 weeks later I needed service, meaning I needed to have my piece re-glued on. I decided to go to a another salon that did re-installements and touch ups and was told that my piece was not custom made. The piece was a bit loose when she tried fitting it on my head. The lace was very thin - the cheapest material out in the market. The hair was of average quality. The highlights - what highlights? There were NO highlights. The bad part about this was that you signed a contract that this was non-refundable. So I couldn't complain. On average the piece was worth about 500 bucks not 1,740 when evaluated. The code on the back of the piece indicated that it was not custom either. It was a stock piece. In short, this was my WORST experience EVER. I say, NEVER let your emotions control you. If I could go back, I would of never chose this place. PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY, these people are sharks. The piece only lasted 6 months before it began to tear and had too many repairs to even make it wearable anymore. Luckily, my hair grew back and so I just cut it very short. The only good thing about this place is the stylist, she was real, even told me that she wouldn't have paid what I paid. But I was vulnerable and the owner knew that. But I didn't expect to be lied to and sold a stock piece for more then triple the worth. TOTAL LIARS, please DO NOT come here. YOU'LL be taken forgranted. read more

I'm a twenty-year-old girl who recently found out I will lose most or all of the hair on my head. This process has been incredibly hard for me, even harder than I thought it would be (and I'm the one experiencing it, right?). This review is not so much about my actual visit, but the follow-up. I live near here, so I figured I would give it a shot. The reviews I read here made me a little nervous, and with good reason. This is, of course, first and foremost a business. They want to make money. I felt EXTREMELY pressured to buy from them immediately--keep in mind I had just started researching my options (the internet is a scary place). I made a tearful comment about how I had thought about just going for a buzz cut and trying to make it work and Sima, the owner, looked HORRIFIED and said "Oh god, don't do that." It just made me feel like so much more of a freak, and these are people who are supposed to be helping you regain confidence. That's laughable. They want your money, not to make you comfortable. At the end of my appointment, my mom and I came to a silent understanding that we wouldn't be going back there (not only because this was our second exploration of options, and the first proved better/less expensive, but also because I felt so extremely put off). I thought that was done. Nope! They called my mother for a follow-up. Understandable--she told them that we would not be going with their services at this time. Then we got a letter. I quote: "Just like you, many of our present customers once experienced the difficult question you are facing: "What should I do about my hair loss?" Yes, the decision is a BIG one, but by doing nothing at all, you are making an even bigger decision ... the decision to leave your appearance as it is. Although doing nothing might seem like the easiest option, quite the opposite is true. Because you are obviously concerned with your appearance, the decision will be with you continually." WHAT?? I'm honestly disgusted by this. First, there's the assumption that if I am not pursuing business with them, I'm not at all. Next, there's the implication that leaving my appearance as-is is BAD. Then, there's the guilt trip and the reminder that I'm going bald! THANKS! I KNOW! I seriously can't believe this. I came to New Look Institute today to receive a new wig. I was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer and lost my hair during radiation. I'm getting married in a week and Sima and Norma graciously donated a wig for my big wedding day. The wigs they chose were perfect for my coloring and my facial shape.
