Regular short rib with rice and bok choy
    Katie B.

I was happily surprised by this spot! Great food at a great price. I loved the bok choy. Short rib was more of a dry rub, not similar to galbi in anything other than cut, but I liked it plenty. The white sauce was nice, I think a little miso? The red sauce was VERY spicy!

My coworkers and I were working in the area so we got Yumami for lunch and it was pretty good! I really liked the amount of food for the price. I got a large short rib box with half rice half noodles and bok choy. Loved the noodles since I don't generally see that as an option. The bok choy was cooked really well, loved that. I only had one issue...I thought based on the pictures that the short ribs were going to be marinated in a Korean/Hawaiian galbi way. They are not. They were good but mostly just salty and peppery, not at all galbi like I wanted. So, good food overall but if you're looking for Korean/Hawaiian style galbi, it's not lol.

Reduced portion but not the price.

First, I would like to say that the food is good but today we got bamboozled. The beef portion shrunk and the noodles portion grew considerably. What's going on Sandy? Are we going to blame gas prices, tariffs, the war in Iran, global warming? Come on. This is totally sus.

I'm so happy. One of my favorite lunch spots ever was in Hollywood and it closed down years ago... I always talked about my ideal type of bowl with bok choy, ribeye, and a carb all covered in this incredible sesame sauce. Today saw that this mom and pop actually reopened at a different location in Lincoln Heights. Can't wait to get this regularly again!

First time trying this recently & I am so happy I found this small establishment! Miss sandy is always so sweet & welcoming. The food is just as great, don't forget to add their sesame sauce it's soooo good! I work around the area so I will definitely come in any chance that I get.

Over 10 years ago there was a Chinese restaurant in Hollywood that offered the exact same food as Yumami. It didn't survive but I'm glad this place was so close to my house. I don't know why the owner of Yumami gave themselves a Japanese name because this is a Chinese restaurant. Food is delicious and very affordable.

Outstanding! If you're anywhere near the area and are looking for a quick grab and go lunch spot this is definitely it! The short ribs were flavorful and cooked to perfection! Rice and bok choy had this rich subtle buttery flavor to them that was just *chef's kiss*! You place your Oder on the huge screen at the front window, wait a few min and then you are served a great lunch at $14. Awesome spot!

Very fast to prepare n can't judge by the size of the box. I got the Galbi set (prime rib). About $13. Baby bol choy, brown rice. The galbi was very thin. Maybe too much garlic salt(?). It was quite salty. Bok choy was ok. Little less salt may help. The brown rice helped to eat the whole box with all the salt. Maybe it's only me with the salty taste. The meat itself was marinated for a while as the flavor is deep, but it's not restaurant galbi do dont expect...more like a dosirak galbi. Either way a good lunch. A side of kimchi in the corner would have been nice lol. There are like 2 ladies working here. A tiny shop. I think u can eat outside at the Canopy tables? Front Parking can only fit 1-2 cars...3 at max if possible. I think theres a parking lot in the back. The orders are taken by Digital format on a screen. Not sure if they take cash.

This is said too much, but you could, you could taste the love in the food. It was like someone was cooking for us in their house. My wife got a bowl that had the most amazingly cooked bok choy in it along with the salmon. I didn't know I would be getting excited about bok choy, but it was that good. I had the salmon teriyaki combo that included a salad and spicy tuna roll. I think I audibly moaned when I ate the spicy tuna roll. Just a different level of flavor and freshness. The only thing that sucked was there is no restroom for customers. We needed to go down to the metro station 1.5 blocks away and use the public toilet, which was free, clean and easy to use, but still, it was a big hassle when we just wanted to stay there and enjoy our food. I mean and we were drinking tea and eating soup, so you can imagine. Come and enjoy this amazing hidden local gem, just use the restroom before you get here.

Once step inside, the decoration, the vibe totally changed. It's a dark hue with humbling yet elegant setting with a bar table and I almost felt like a dining in the cave ambiance. The menu was not complicated and only focused on pasta, but there are so many choices to my liking! The squid ink, the mentai cream, the uni sauce, and the garlic butter sauce. We ended up settling with Creamy Crab Gratin, mentai cream pasta, the Pescatore Bianca (seafood spaghetti), and Tarako Spaghetti (Cod roe and squid garlic butter sauce). -Crab Gratin is really creamy and cheesy. I just didn't quite get why there are a few pieces of penne pasta inside. But overall tasted good! -All pasta comes with bread and salad. The salad is really fresh and serve mostly lettuce and cherry tomato, which is how I like it. The dressing is not the ranch creamy kind, more cloudy vinaigrette based, also to my liking. -Seafood spaghetti came with a variety of seafood, shrimp, squid ring, mussels, clams, etc. The portion is huge. -Mentai cream pasta: delicious! I think if I order uni pasta, it'll be the same cream base sauce but with uni and $6 bucks more. I'm happy with my choice. The whole dish is consistent, creamy with a slight kick from the mentai, slices of mushrooms and shredded seaweeds on the top. Delish! -Tarako Spaghetti: I took a small bite and appreciated the strong taste of garlic butter in the sauce. -All 3 pasta are served with the thin spaghetti like angel hair. Service is ok, we asked for water refill and the response was polite. Dirty dishes were taken away timely. If I had more time, I would definitely come back for a second visit. A place like this deserves to be in a more upscale block on the street. Btw, parking inside the plaza is not free even though it's just a strip mall. Expect about $8 bucks for dinner parking. It's gated entrance. If you get lucky, you can park on the street and pay the meter.

Long story short, our dining experience felt rushed. We waited about 45 min- an hour for a table. Once we were seated, we were pushed to order right away. I had come here before but it was my husband's first time dining. He needed more time to decide and look over the menu. Well he didn't get much of a chance to look at what he wanted to eat because the server was standing there waiting. Literally staring. What would you like to order? I explained to her that it was his first time here and he needed time to look over the menu and asked her if she can come back later. She proceeded to say it will take longer to get our orders in and delay the kitchen staff. That didn't end there. Right after our food was served, one of the servers came by to ask if everything was ok and if we needed anything. We said no. Shortly after, the server dropped the bill at our desk. Mind you, we were not even close to finishing our meal. I understand there are other customers waiting for a table but you shouldn't be rushing the customers currently eating. They clearly prioritize turning tables faster to make profit. It was not a pleasant or enjoyable dining experience. I would choose another sushi spot.
