Fresh, homestyle food with well-balanced flavors. I came here around lunchtime on a weekday and there wasn't a line. I found that the vegetables, meat, and rice were all cooked well. Not overly salty or greasy, and feels somewhat healthy. There was limited sauce/seasoning on the vegetables, so the subtle flavor of the vegetable itself was able to shine through, which was quite pleasant. Portions are good, I finished the entire large size (comes in a 5x6.5" takeout container with 2.5" depth) and feel satiated but not overly full. It seems like more of a takeout place. You order at the window and pick up your order at another window. It took about 5 min for me to get my food on a weekday lunch hour. I seriously can't believe it's taken me so long to write a review for this place because I've had Yumami anywhere between 10-20 times. Usual order: Large plate - short ribs with white rice & Shanghai bok choy (I also love the mustard greens -- you really can't go wrong with any of the veg choices!) I typically get the large order of short ribs with extra short ribs (+$4 but worth it, IMHO) because I am *that* obsessed with the beef short rib here. Though not as tender as marinated galbi, these ribs are grilled and seasoned to perfection. They're smoky from the grill, crispy on the edges, and just salty enough -- complemented sooo well by their white rice & the slight sweetness of the veggies, which are cooked in a light sauce (reminds me of veggies stir-fried with oyster sauce, but not so sauce-heavy). I've tried their beef rib eye too, which reminds me of shabu shabu because of the beef cut and the sesame sauce they top it with (tastes similar to goma sauce). It's also super tasty and I'll occasionally get a half short rib/half rib eye plate, but the short ribs have a STRONG chokehold on me. There's something very homey about their food. It looks like a modest, unassuming meal, but always delivers. The combination of white rice, protein, and veggies reminds me of a home-cooked meal that I'd often find on the dinner table growing up. The only downfall it can take a long time for the food to be made since it's a small spot. Even when you place the order over the phone it still takes a long time. Vegetables are home grown which they prepare every morning. Service is typical Chinese eatery service. Quick and simple. Menu is straight forward. No hassle. However, not a good place for large groups as theres only four chairs and two tables in the two car parking lot. Some street parking nearby. Paid parking meters in front of the storefront. Vegetables are usually not the highlight but Their baby bok choy was so crunchy, juicy, and sweet, I craved it so much I had to order another meal from them. I got two plates, the beef rib-eye and the beef short ribs. Both with bok choy and rice. Size R. It was SO flavorful. The rib-eye meat was a melt in your mouth type, with so much juice it was so good. The short ribs were also super tasty, they were a perfect char. Have lived in this area for so long and had never gone here. Cute little spot right on Broadway. Thought I'd try it out since it had 5 stars. The reviews live up to the expectations. FOOD: I ordered the short ribs with white rice and baby bok choy. Food was delicious. The seasoning on the ribs was on point. I felt like the portion size was sufficient. The baby bok choy was perfectly cooked. SERVICE: I made an online order through their website. I used PayPal to pay. When I arrived the cashier couldn't find my order. Once she found it she said I hadn't paid so I had to pay. I showed her both my PayPal receipt along with their online ordering service receipt (BeyondMenu) which showed I did pay. She was confused had me wait so she can verify. She made a phone call and then when she came back she said that it was showing that I had not paid. I again showed her the receipts. We went back and forth for several minutes. Finally, she just hands me my food and shrugs her shoulders saying if you say you paid then you paid but it's not showing that. Really good fresh tasting food! I'm so glad another spot opened up here. The food is great. Shrimp is big and good quality, not the cheap bag of frozen stuff some cheap places use. Great flavors on the rice and greens. Outdoor seating is two metal tables, that needs an upgrade. One of the prior businesses in this spot had a great little dining area. A perfect quick and healthy meal on the go. I've been wanting to try this place for a while now and was finally in the area and paid them a visit. The workers are these super sweet 'aunties' that made me feel welcome and comfortable. I ordered the beef rib eye (but in actuality I wanted the short rib) and went up to the window to say my order was wrong. They nicely let me know that I actually ordered beef and I quickly realized and immediately apologized, realizing it was on me, not them. To my surprise, instead of just going about my meal with the wrong item I wanted due to my mistake, she offered to add the short rib for me and even gave me a free drink, no charge. The food is exactly what I was looking for - fresh, tasty, and not heavy. The greens were cooked perfectly, still some firmness. Both meats were seasoned well. They have a small parking lot so anticipate parking on the streets nearby or you could use the parking lot in the rear. I ate the food in my car parked nearby their location and was really happy with the taste of the short ribs. They were seasoned well. It came with a lot of short rib pieces; maybe like 6 or 7. The bok choy was juicy and the white rice was a nice compliment. It's a simple meal overall but the flavor was really good! After finishing the food, I was full but not uncomfortably stuffed.
