HIDDEN GEM!! My mom and I love trying out new places to eat at for lunch, so we decided to come here since it was so close to our house! And we were both so glad we did! This place is delicious and seriously a hidden gem! It was empty when we went and the service was really good, our waitress would refill our drinks when we didn't even know we were running low! And she was really nice! My mom got the lunch special jalapeño beef and onion soup and she said it was better than this other Chinese restaurant we go to on bissonnet (and that place is SUPER GOOD!) DO NOT EAT HERE! If I could I would give this place zero stars. Yesterday I ordered shrimp lo-mein and wonton soup to go and both were ready pretty quickly. I should have known to not order, because there is a distinct odor when you enter the establishment and it is not pleasant. After getting my food home my large shrimp lo-mein noodles only came with 8 shrimp and the wonton soup had a roach in it. Yes a roach and it was discovered AFTER I had already ate my lo-mein noodles. Pick up an order yesterday. It was ready when they said it will be. I ordered General Tso, Sweet & Sour, and Curry Chicken dishes. Curry seafood rice, vegetables rolls, soup, and Chef Special Seafood Delight. It was some of The best Chinese food I've had in a long time! I east out a lot, and the food was flavored just right, the curry tasted like it should (some places use the least they can), it was fresh and delicious. The food here was good, it seemed a decent notch above the local Chinese delivery in the area. The lunch special came with a lot of food! Prices were spot on too, lunches are between $6-7. What I didn't like was the service. It was terrible. The staff was friendly, but oblivious and unresponsive. There was a restaurant wide "what's going on???". Literally people were looking around the small cafe (14 - 16 tables) asking talking with other tables about how they weren't getting the help they sought. For us, I asked for white rice and was given fried. I told the waiter, I even asked that he bring me white rice. Never came, couldn't even get his attention before I finished eating the rest of my meal. Also getting the bill and a to-go box was a chore. Around the room, a lady sat with no place setting except a menu. She sat in bewilderment than no one had approached her in 6+ minutes. Another table was trying to get drink refills, one man finally went to the kitchen door and said "this is the third time I'm asking..." Pretty unbelievable how poor the service was. Being a Houston native, our family has tried many Chinese restaurants. This is by far our favorite Chinese food in the Richmond area. The wonton soup and sweet and sour chicken are the best we've ever had. We really enjoy that the jalapeno chicken is actually spicy. I sat down and the server was friendly, making a few suggestions. Very nice. I ordered sweet and sour chicken with fried rice and an egg roll with tea to drink. The place was pretty steady both inside and take-out. The portions are very large. The S&S chicken was hot and tender. The fried rice was bland, and not great. Very little egg, carrot, peas, or flavoring. I would not order again but would stick to steamed rice. No on the egg rolls too. They weren't fresh and did not have good flavor. Took a bite, left the rest. I would say hit and miss here. Will look for another place. I will say the place is clean, and the tea was good. Just okay. read more
