Some of the best broiled seafood I've had and my family and I will keep coming back. We ordered the Cajun fries just as a light pupu and they were so good. The spice was perfect mixed with the crab, mussels, corn, crawfish, and sausage. Get some rice so you can put the sauce' from the bag on it. The owner is always so sweet and friendly when we come in, and the staff has always been so helpful and always on top of things. I know they downsized from their original location, the inside is just as welcoming and relaxing while we enjoyed our food. This is the only broil spot we go on the Windward side, the Cajun spot at Windward mall got my cousin sick and the flavors they offer vs what Cajun King has - doesn't compare. If I could give negative stars for this service and lack of communication, I would. This is a long read but this story is terrible behavior on the staffs part. Thursday night, I stopped by Cajun King to pick up a menu, knowing my family planned a large takeout order for Father's Day. As I was leaving, I decided to call and ask about placing an order. Though they open at 11 a.m., they told me to call at 10:30 because someone would be there to take the order early, and it could be ready by 11:15. On Saturday, my daughter called to ask about market prices--since the menu had no prices listed. She was first transferred to a man who gave her all the prices and confirmed that nothing would change for Sunday. That reassurance helped us plan, and my husband decided to go with a combo seafood bag instead of ordering à la carte. That's when things started to go downhill. On Sunday, my sister-in-laws and I were ready to place our order over the phone. The first thing we were told? Lunch specials aren't available today. My daughter and I had planned to get the $15 Steak and Shrimp Lunch Combo, so in a rushed moment, we each ordered a pound of shrimp instead. My daughter had been told it would be $18 per pound. I gave our order over the phone: two combos, two pounds of shrimp, and black bean clams. When I asked for the price breakdown, I was shocked to hear the total: $244. That made no sense. The prices from the menu I picked up Thursday were: Combo #1 - $68, Combo #4 - $68, shrimp - $18/lb, clams - $17. He now claimed Combo #1 was $75, Combo #4 was $70, and shrimp was $20. Even with those new prices, the total shouldn't have been $244. I calculated it to be $203 before tax. I asked why it was so high. He said there was a Father's Day service charge--something never mentioned before--and an "extra charge for plugging it into the register." What kind of charge is that? I pushed back, saying I would pay for the food but not these mystery fees. He kept asking if I still wanted the food, implying I could cancel if I didn't want to pay. By now, my mother-in-law, daughter, and sister-in-laws were all upset. We waited 20 minutes and then drove over. In the car, my daughter noticed the paper menu I picked up was dated 5/11/2025, so it was current. When we arrived, we saw a menu posted on the door with a 3/28/2025 date--and those prices matched what the guy was now quoting. We went in fired up and immediately addressed the price discrepancies. The guy said the printed menu I had was wrong and that they were honoring the in-store prices. While I was arguing, my daughter checked the receipts of two orders already prepared--and saw that the shrimp was charged at $18/lb. So why upcharge the combos? There was a language barrier, but that doesn't excuse the poor communication. He kept saying he didn't want to argue, that his manager wasn't there, and that there was nothing he could do. My daughter told me the receipts didn't show a service charge at all. At that point, I gave up. I was too frustrated. My daughter then asked, calmly, why we couldn't order the Steak and Shrimp plate we had been planning to get. He said they didn't have it. So you're out of steak? Fine--but then take it off the menu or just say that. Instead, I was told it was because it's a "holiday." Which is it? As we waited for the final order to be packed, we watched one of the employees gather all the printed menus--the ones with the May 11 date--and toss them in the trash. Huge red flag. That basically confirmed they knew they messed up. Then came the final insult: the shrimp was dirty. Veins full of black gunk, and the shells were ridiculously hard to peel. I get that you pay by the pound with the shell on, but we barely got 9 ounces of actual shrimp meat out of 2 pounds. They were skinny, tough to clean, and completely not worth it. Some of the others said the flavor of their food was decent, but honestly, for that price? Not worth it. The terrible service ruined our whole experience. The food wasn't so amazing that it could justify being treated that way or charged random holiday "fees." I didn't catch the worker's name, but he's the male server who answers the phone. I get that he doesn't have the tools to handle this on his own--but that's the problem. A restaurant should be able to function and handle issues even when the manager isn't there. read more

Had the snow crab mix with the spicy garlic sauce. Food was tasty. Not too spicy. The only thing we had an issue with was I think the service charged us for our table if 6 people. Salt & Pepper shrimp...awesome! Tasty and seasoned just perfect. The Clams with Oyster Sauce was also really good. The service was quick and water glasses were filled without asking! So I give it a 8! The only suggestion is...I wish they'd clean the window sills and wipe down the areas of the restaurant that are covered in dust and other particle droppings. This is the old spot that was occupied by Kikuya Japanese Restaurant that moved down the street into Windward Mall. Came here for my Aunt's birthday. We had a big party so they had a separate room set up for us which was very accommodating of them. Being that we had a huge party, I can excuse a little bit of the run around service that they provided. All in all, our experience here was good. Like all crab boil places, they do get you with the sides so I like to order my crab ala carte! SERVICE: We had a huge party, all of our orders were correct. PARKING: Lots of parking....free parking.... since they are located in the shopping area. However, be aware that some of their stalls are a little compact and tight. As you can see two different types of crab was served . They still have something against me although I haven't been here in over a year. After seeing what the other customer had is when I decided again that this place is the worst . I thought that not going there for over a year that feelings had passed obviously not as we we were the only customers there for a good amount of time me and my friend laughing they decide to turn the volume of the tv up to a 100. The rudest ever . Then I ask him the question oh why are you serving 2 different types of crab he decides to tell me oh they got king crab . Um no it's not it's snow crab . I came here on a weekday for lunch. The place was pretty much empty. There were three other tables besides mine. There were two people working the floor, an older woman and a young man. The man was great. He was friendly, helpful, and kept our water glasses full. The woman on the other hand was spooking me out. She kept looking at me and giving me stink eye, even though it's the first time I've ever seen her. She never smiled and was totally rude. She is definitely not cut out for customer service. I wouldn't say that the food was great, maybe a little above average. I ordered the Combo #1 (lobster, crawfish, mussels, shrimp, clams, sausage, corn, and rice). I got it with garlic butter on the side for dipping. I didn't want my hands to get all oily. I didn't taste any garlic. It was just straight butter. However, the seafood was really fresh. The meat was naturally sweet and firm in texture. They seemed to have skimped on the clams and shrimp. There should have been a few more pieces. We also ordered the fried catfish basket. I didn't try it but the hubby said that it was ok. This location has no connections to the other Cajun Kings on the island. I've been to all of them. The one on Waialae was my favorite. Today because I was in Kaneohe, I decided to go to the Kaneohe Location. I phone ordered it and had my husband run in to pay for it. He went in and paid. He came out and said it's gonna be another 15mins. That was fine. The part that I have a problem with is when my husband returned back the lady working inside yelled at him and told him it wasn't ready and to go outside. I heard her yell from outside when I was in my car. After giving us our food, he asked her if he could have some napkins because there was none in the bag and I was planning to eat it at the time, she said they don't give napkins for takeouts. Service seemed bad and they had some problems with using the groupon. I was worried but I had no choice but to take a risk. We came on a weekend, a little before dinner time. The place was empty. Though I think they need to do some cleaning. The table we got seated, the chairs had some seafood crumbs...yuck. The mini trash bucket they had on the table for trash, the bags are dirty, they reuse it. I was a bit worry what else they reuse. So the waiter was nice and we asked him about our groupon and we ordered three dishes. Overall the food was really delicious. It came out really hot and fresh! The portion, I'm very surprised how much they give you. I thought it would be little for the price, but it wasn't bad. Flavor of the food was yummy! Fried catfish with cajun fries - catfish was a bit plain. They use a different type of batter for it. Fries were tasty. Fried chicken with cajun fries - Loved the fried chicken. Crispy and yummy! Freshly made. Salt and pepper shrimp - I've been craving shrimp and I'm glad I ordered this. It was really good. It has been a while since I had this dish. Cooked well. Lately I have been spending my weekends on the windward side, I enjoy the scenic drive! The reason is to shop at my favorite mall, then stop for dinner, which is at Cajun King. I visited a total of 4 times every week or every other week. I wanted to try the Chinese food items and the Seafood menu. Out of the 4 visits, I enjoyed 2/4 visits. There are 2 other Cajun King location ( Aiea & Kaimuki) I asked one of the owners and he mentioned that all locations are franchise. Cajun King is located at Windward City Shopping center, more towards the back of shopping center. Do you remember a restaurant called Joyful Garden 10 years ago? I used to dine at the previous restaurant often, which brought back memories. The restaurant is the same except they added brighter lights, the additional sink area near the bathroom and the lobster tank. The service I received during my visits are alright. The young waiter ( I need to get his name next time) He is very friendly. The owner will rush you, we would get our menu and he would ask for our orders right away and say last call or the kitchen is closing. Best to call ahead, to be safe. Closing time on Yelp is 9:30 pm on Saturday and most time we get to restaurant at 8:20 pm, too early for last call. Visit # 1, ****4 stars**** ordered Combo # 3, includes crawfish, mussles, shrimp, clams, potatoes, 2 corn on the cob, 4 sausages, and rice ( 53.00) with Cajun & Garlic butter sauce. 1 order of Cajun wings with Cajun fries ( 10.00) We enjoyed everything and at this visit, I fell in love with the Cajun wings. I only enjoyed the garlic string beans, which was very crispy. The steamed fish tasted like it wasn't cooked, the ginger chicken was too oily did not like it, both of the entree was disappointing. Overall, after 4 visit they average 4 stars, I will go to Cajun King for the seafood items and not for the Chinese food. The prices are reasonable for the menu items and seafood combo menu are on pricey side . Next time I visit, I want to check out the lunch special, they have great deals for lunch from looking at the menu and Yelp photos. Lobstah!! Came here for that lobstah lunch a while back!!And nearly missed my flight for it. But it was pretty good for a take out. I was in the area-ish at Kahuku gardens for family gatherings/ brunch before I fly back out. Wanted something quick for my flight back. And viola! I found this spot. Looking for the best place on the Windward side to have Crab Legs, I read reviews & stumbled upon Cajun King- it was a little bit of a drive for me but I was craving crab legs so I didn't mind. I ordered a pound of Cajun crab legs with medium spice ($21 market price) and a pound of shrimp ($12) in the same sauce. We had ordered it to-go and as I got there the lady who greeted me at the door was super friendly and I guess she knew I had a to-go order because she walked me straight to the front counter where she had my food ready and a large cup of warm melted butter to go with it. She was really kind and even gave me a Valentine as I paid. The food was absolutely delicious. Every thing was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. Very HORRIBLE customer service experience. First, let's start off where it began. Before coming to the restaurant, I called to make sure that they were still open and available to seat my party quickly. The woman who answered said that they will be waiting for us and that there is no wait time. I repeatedly asked if I can make a reservation and she said "We'll wait for you." I said to her that we were coming from Waipahu and it is traffic so it will take a while. She said that it is ok and that they will wait for us. There was no need for any reservation. This was before 7:30 PM. When my party arrived, it was more than 30 minutes until closing time. It was a little past 8 o'clock and it said on Yelp that the restaurant closes at 9 o'clock. When my party and I entered the restaurant, there was a guy who said that they are not taking anymore customers. I said that we called to make sure that we were able to come in and get seated. I mentioned that I spoke to a woman who said that they'll wait for us. The man said that they were not taking any more customers. I repeatedly said I came from Waipahu and called before coming. He just said "Sorry, we're closed." How could you possibly be closed when I saw there was one party still eating?! Very DISTURBING and RUDE customer service. If you said that you were going to wait for a customer, then you wait for a customer. You DO NOT deny them at the door when they traveled almost across the entire island just to come to your restaurant. Fix your hours on Yelp too if they do not accurately reflect the correct hours of your restaurant's operation. Go to the Cajun King in Aiea instead. They have way better customer service. Even though the one in Kaneohe is closer, make the drive to Aiea. It's not worth having to deal with this type of experience. Denied at the door.
