A good Szechuan craving satisfied! With restaurants like these, it's better to come with at least 4-5 people so you can order more variety of dishes and try all the favorites! They have a special that's posted outside their restaurants where when you get 4 of their popular dishes, they will give you a soup for free. We were gonna order all of those anyway so why not! Each dish priced around $15-20. Notable favorites: 1) spicy boiling fish (fish cooked in peppercorn and chili oil). Fish was a bit soft, but very tasty. It's important not to bite into the peppercorn bc it'll just numb your mouth. 2) spicy chicken (pieces of fried chicken stir fried in dry chilis). This dish looks intimidating, but it's not. Unfortunately, the fried chicken in this one didn't taste spicy or was coated with enough spices. So it tasted only like breaded popcorn chicken. 3) Dan Dan noodles- chewy noodles coated with numbing spices and peanut sauce, topped with crushed peanuts for the crunch. Delicious and filling. 4) appetizer cold dish- beef tripes and brisket in chili oil. They do this one pretty well compared to other places in terms of being able to keep the tripes crunchy, and the spiciness lingers in your throat afterward. The above were the 4 popular ones, then they give you a free pickled cabbage spicy fish soup that was also delicious! Then we also ordered the scallion pancake beef rolls (always a fav- beef slices with hoisin sauce and scallion, wrapped in fried savory pancakes) and an eggplant green bean stir fried. Def not a hearty meal but it's a little indulgence when you're looking for something spicy to warm you up. Here's what we ordered: (1) Dan Dan Mian: Stephy Steph said best she's had. Compared to Dumpling Era, hands down better. But it may have been be a bit spicy for her non-Chinese taste buds. Not sure if they can make it white-girl spicy next time for her. (2) Chongqing Spicy Chili Chicken (asked for more mala): Delicious. However, looking at the ticket the server wrote down, that didn't happen. Regardless, it was really good. Fried foods don't travel well; it probably would have been more crispy if we ate there. There is so much complaint about the takeout price are 25-30% more. This is because the delivery service demands a high commission and then charges you a delivery fee. Don't blame the restaurant owner for the increase takeout price. It is the delivery service that rips off the customer. I'm not the owner or his family friend responding just a customer that knows of the business model. I rarely uses delivery service. I usually go and patronize the restaurant directly. The driver only gets the tip. The driver gets very little of the delivery fee and overcharges from the delivery company. In this economy it is very hard to make a buck. To my surprise, we were dining at a Michelin restaurant and got there right before the crowd. That place gets crowded! We ordered the hot and sour soup. It had a nice kick to the throat. Stopped in here for dinner since we saw the Michelin recommendation. Frankly, not worth it in our opinion; we've had Szechuan in New York and China and this paled in comparison. The flavor of the dishes were a touch on the bland side (spicy, but no flavors behind), and they didn't include rice with any dish (you have to order separately at a charge). They had a spicy fish dish, but not a whole fish or fish w/ bones as traditionally, only fish pieces. Then the Szechuan vegetables was ok, but salty. The tofu fried with mushrooms and snow pea leaves was good. The spicy noodles was not that spicy and my mother-in-law ended up not eating most of it (she loves Szechuan normally). I'm disappointed as the service was so-so, the food even less so. Not sure what Michelin saw in this place, as we have eaten real Szechuan food in China and NYC, and this doesn't come close unfortunately. Maybe it is the best in the San Fran area? Got takeout from here yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the food! We ordered the dan dan noodles, cold szechuan chicken noodle, and green onion beef. It used to be our favorite economical local eatery, it has an old school feel where the food taste like how chinese food used to taste like back in the 90s, especially their Sweet & Sour Chicken (酸甜雞), as well as their prices. Their Szechuan dishes are right on too, especially their Szechuan Cold Chicken Noodle(四川雞絲涼麵) and Dan Dan Noodle (擔擔麵 great spices and lots of spicy oil, greasy yet satisfying). Solid 5 stars. We've been here a handful of times over the past few years and it's always so good. I don't know why I haven't written a review yet, so here is what we ordered when we came on Labor Day. Beef pancake ($10.95) - I'm not a particularly big fan of this anywhere, so I wouldn't really be able to tell if it's good here. My family said that this restaurant usually does it better, and that this time it was only okay. Couple's Delight ($13.95) - Very tasty, with slices of beef as well as beef stomach. This is spicy, but not an uncomfortable level - just enough to enhance the flavor. We always get this one. Spicy pork ear ($12.95) - My brother and I love pork ear, so even though we assumed the flavor is similar to that of the Couple's Delight, we still wanted to order this as well. The flavor is similar, but we felt that this one was even tastier. We really enjoyed it and decided that we'll always be ordering this in the future as well! Leek and pork dumpling ($10.95) - Got this one for my toddler because it's one of the things on the menu that isn't spicy. Usually this is better, but this time the skin was a little thicker than we like it. Flavor was fine though. Mao Xue Wang ($20.95) - Another item we always get. It's a spicy stew that has intestines, pig's blood, beef tripe, beef slices, pieces of fish, and bean sprouts. The stew is filled with chili peppers and peppercorns, and it's quite spicy. I had to take breaks when eating this! Also, our family loves pig blood - I know it sounds unappetizing, but don't knock it til you try it. Our favorite pig's blood is in Hong Kong, and my brother said this is the best he's had outside of HK. It was soft, with the right amount of bounce (as opposed to when it's gross and crumbly), and seriously just so delicious. So impressed! Szechuan chili pork ($13.95) - The whole table liked this, and the flavor is great. It's a little too spicy for me, but then again - it's a Szechuan restaurant that specializes in spicy dishes, so this is a me-problem haha. Dry Stir-Fry Pork Intestine ($18.95) - Holy moly this was amazing. I don't usually like this dish elsewhere because it's pretty unhealthy, and I don't like the taste or texture of biting into fat with the oils squeezing out. But this was SO good. It's crunchy, wonderfully salty, and just fried perfectly that there's none of that gross oozing fat when I bite into it because it's cooked to be "drier" which is exactly what we prefer. It's not any healthier, but my dad justified eating it by saying that since it's fried a little more, more of the fat is fried out (okay dad). But honestly, I'd make up my own justifications too if it means I could order this again! If you're someone who doesn't like spice, then although they do have some options, I don't think this is the place for you. Our least favorite items this time just happened to be the two non-spicy ones. They specialize in heat, and they do it well. We ordered seven items for four adults (and one toddler) because there were just so many good dishes. We finished all but one dish. It was such a great meal that on the car ride home, we were already talking about when we'd come back and order eight items! There were two young men working and service was great - they were nice and worked quickly. The restaurant is using disposable plates and utensils due to Covid, which is fine by me and honestly preferred during this time. However, they're using paper to-go menus for sit-down customers, which to me doesn't make sense Covid-wise. I think it would make more sense to have one-time use menus (less green), or go back to their old regular menus that were able to be sanitized and wiped down. They have too many dishes that an online menu would be difficult to look through. Parking isn't too difficult to find on the street. Definitely the best Szechuan food in peninsula in my opinion, also better than Z&Y in Chinatown, which I used to go to a lot and they used to be my favorite Szechuan restaurant. I came to this Sichuan restaurant for the first time last Sunday. After entering, a girl waiter welcomed us very warmly. We sat down and chose two dishes, boiled fish and spicy chicken. The dishes here are very delicious, I will definitely come here next time. The service is good and the food is delicious. I definitely recommend this place. read more

2.5 stars. Average at the best. I remember it being better before. Szechuan boiled fish (their signature dish)'s broth had no depth of umami, and missing beautiful aroma of red chills Szechuan peppercorns as I am accustomed to. The fish tasted muddy. Their Scallion pancakes were underdone, doughy, and not enough scallion. After eating one bite of it, we didn't touch them at all. Two servers asked if I wanted to take them home, I said "no thank you, it was not cooked through" They just ignore it. Of course, it was on my bill and I paid for it. Organic Chicken Ramen noodles and broth were ok but chicken was tough and stringy. Did not eat any ch Surprisingly xiao long bao (which is not Szechuan dish) was great. read more
