It felt like there wasn't enough noodles for all of the broth that you get. They also do not sell the seamed buns anymore:( The employees were very kind and accommodating though, this is not a service type place though and you order at the front and the pick up your food at the pickup window or they will deliver it to you depending on the size of the order. My friend got the Ugly Pot and it was really really tasty! And my other friend got the Chicken Katsu and said it was also very good and it's her favorite place to get it!

Sapporo is not about to break that trend! Right off the bat, the vibe is chill and the staff is welcoming. I go for the Takoyaki and Hakata modern. The Takoyaki is absolutely delicious. Wonderful balance of texture and salt vs sweet. Easily top 3 I've had. On to the ramen....which I was ready to be super hyper critical on. Hakata modern features Tonkotsu pork broth, chashu, ajitsuke tamago, menma, beansprouts, garlic oil, umami dama, and scallions. Final verdict? The broth is rich and flavorful, and there is plenty of it! The ramen egg is a tab bit overdone and the chasu can be a little more tender but who am I kidding? It's pretty damn good! The best part of all? Sapporo sits at a very reasonable price point while not compromising on high quality. All in all, very much worth a trip while in the area. Sapporo slides right into my go to lineup :-)

The team members we encountered were welcoming and friendly. We were seated right away as during the summer with the college students scarce, getting seated right away isn't abnormal. The restaurant was quiet so we selected a seat next to the window; the foot and vehicle traffic on Grand River was a nice backdrop. We started with shrimp shumai and the tempura appetizer, then decided on the sushi combo b and avocado don for our mains. The shrimp shumai were dainty but tasty! However, the tempura veggies weren't really flavorful and I'm not sure what the sauce served with them was intended to offer but minimal flavor was found there as well. The avocado don was like a deconstructed sushi roll and was absolutely delightful, although the dish would have benefited from the avocado being more ripe; it was flavorful and plentiful! The sushi combo was also delicious and fresh, served with plenty of wasabi and ginger. Speaking of ginger the ginger dressing on the side salad was so crisp, fresh and tangy it was definitely one of the highlights. I think the avocado don may end up being a lunchtime staple for me!

I ordered build your own poke. White rice base, 6 pcs of shrimp tempura and multiple veggies and an egg. After placing our order, a person comes out of the kitchen with our dishes. The food came out quickly and fresh out of the kitchen. The flavors were amazing and the yum-yum sauce was really, really good. The shrimp tempura was a nice side and crispy. The veggies were fresh! The amount of food given was a lot and I ate half and saved the rest for later. The egg was not overcooked. I wish I knew about this place as we have visited East Lansing a ton. My son's graduated so we won't be coming here as often. There were semi busy, especially that school was off. If ever in East Lansing, make sure you stop here.

Our little ones are a bit picky, but they do enjoy noodles when given the opportunity to have them. This is what brought us to Bowl Above, a Japanese inspired eatery that is both pleasing to the mouth as well as the eyes. The interior is lined with anime inspired art as well as Spartan sports. There are also board games available if you're here with a group of friends and want to chill. We shared one bowl of shrimp yakisoba and a katsu chicken bowl that I customized to my liking. We absolutely loved them and finished everything. Food is very expensive though and they nickel and dime you for additional toppings, but at least the portions somewhat justify it. Beyond that I have no complaints.

One was their regular menu with a variety of different options and the second menu was all sushi and sashimi. There were dozens of rolls and nigiri of all types. Quite an impressive list. I was there for the Korean food so I did not order any sushi. The service was excellent. The few questions we had were answered and the menu layout was explained as it was extensive. There were apps, rice dishes, soups, house specials, BBQ options and hot pot options to name a few. I decided to go with the kim bop app and soondubu chigae main dish. Soondubu chigae is a spicy soup with silken tofu and seafood served piping hot with rice on the side. The meal also included a selection of 4 banchan; potato salad, Kimchee, bean sprouts and fish cake. All of the banchan were delicious. The banchan also comes with unlimited refills. The kim bop was so good. Not sure what all the ingredients were but it was very tasty and well made. The rice was also very good. It was not an afterthought like a lot of Asian restaurants. The rice was cooked properly and of high quality. The soondubu chigae was also very tasty. Not as spicy as I like but had lots of flavor. My one criticism is the lack of seafood. There was some but not really in balance with the amount of silken tofu and egg in the dish. Overall I would recommend Korea House and although I haven't yet tried the BBQ or the hot pot, I sure they would be excellent choices. If you're craving some authentic Korean flavors, give this spot a try.
