Love the Z Cafe. I've had multiple items from their menu with the family and each one has been delicious. The amount of food you get for the price is also great, considering the current times. I asked for easy artichoke hearts and i feel like this was intentional. Look how huge those pieces are. Who puts that in an omelette? One piece alone takes up like a quarter of the omelette. There's also like no seasoning at all in the omelette. No salt? Just basic eggs with a ton of filling and little to no hollandaise on top. Very bland and disappointing. Enjoyed the place so much we came back the following day just for happy hour & early bird dinner. All items on the happy hour are large enough portions to either share or be a meal by itself. The Kalua pork sliders were one of my faves. Super flavorful with minimal sauce and amazing coleslaw. You can't go wrong with the handrails. I tried them all. The salmon skins and tempura were my favorites. The kid loved the chicken nuggets with fries. The pork street tacos are pretty good too. Only downside is they are super oily. If you have a kid who loves noodles but not sauce the bow tie pasta would be ideal. It was a little too bland for my taste but my husband really enjoyed it. It has no sauce but rather lightly tossed in butter and mixed with mushrooms, tomatoes, chicken, & parm cheese. I highly recommend checking this place out. Came here to have lunch with a friend as others have shared that there are vegan options. It wasn't difficult for me to find something to eat. The veggie wrap had avocado and hummus and was tasty. I got a side of fruit as the French fries are in a shared frier with other animal products (yuck!). My daughter's order was a little more challenging as trying to find something toddler friendly and vegan was a challenge. There was no kids menu but they offered her a nice coloring page and markers to keep her busy. I ended up ordering her the veggie teriyaki bowl with rice. The waitress shared she thought the brown rice had butter so we opted for the white. She said she'd confirm everything was vegan and when she didn't come back, I assumed all was okay. When she came back with food (which, I thought took a while), she said the teriyaki sauce wasn't vegan and so they left it out. My daughter had a bowl of steamed veggies and rice. I asked for soy sauce but to be honest it was awful. The broccoli was okay, the zucchini was meh, but the carrots tasted awful- even with soy sauce. I wish I had the opportunity to rethink an option for my daughter because it just wasn't very good and not at all what I would have asked for. Thankfully, the fruit on my plate was good and I was able to share it with my daughter. The wrap was pretty tasty but not something my daughter is into. I probably would have ordered a few sides of things and it would have been a cheaper meal. I will say between the 3 of us, our tab was only roughly $20. The wrap was worth it, not sure the rest of it was. Not the best option for vegan food but you can find something. Wish the fries were in a separate frier. I might be back but with a better plan for trying to feed my 2 year old! Also, I forgot my daughter's sippy cup at the table and when my hubby called, they said nothing was in the lost and found... so they tossed it or kept it, and that just makes me sad. read more

This is a lovely restaurant located in a small business park but don't let that fool you. There is a spacious roof top patio dining area and a sizable indoor seating area as well. The food is amazing! There are some wonderful Hawaiian specialties, I had the Katsu Chicken which was delicious. The portions are quite large, especially the sandwiches and they have a full bar. If you are in the area or on your way to Fallbrook I would highly recommend stopping in for an amazing lunch. read more

My partner had the club sandwich which was filled with real Turkey, ham and bacon and could easily been for two people. He also had onion rings which had an amazing batter-style coating. We picked up lunch from Z Cafe today. It was missing a key ingredient...flavor. I ordered the Hawaiian Fish Tacos. For most of my meal, it felt like I was eating chicken. The fish was dry and overcooked. It didn't have any marinade or sauce, so I added something I already had at home. If not for my sauce addition, it would have been like eating cardboard. My significant other and I found an air b&b in Bonsall where you can stay in an actual Mongolian yurt (closest we'll ever get to camping) and the host raved about how good the food is at Z cafe. We decided to take his word for it since there aren't that many options in the area and it was only a short drive from us. We ordered take-out on the phone assuming they didn't have outdoor dining but they had plenty of tables on their outdoor patio when we arrived. We got the kalua pork bowl and the grilled mahi on rice and they were both delicious. They give you roasted veggies on the side and plenty of rice. When we got back to the yurt, we opened a bottle of wine, ate the food and watched the stars from the yurt. It was wonderful. The food is good, but the customer service is terrible 4 out of 10 times and i come to this place really often some of the girls are rude and obnoxious, one time the manger (or at least I think she is the manager) was angry at me and asked me a lot of personal questions to finishing up asking what is the reason I don't tip. (I do tip only when they deserve to be tipped but after that one time she confronted me about tipping ruined my whole experience and because of that I'm not longer tipping in this establishment) also when you call to do a pick up order through the phone, you can wait up to 30 minutes they answer you and put you on the hole. Sometimes they even hang up on you. It's really tedious to do a pick up order in this place because of the same reason. The ambience is good gives me a good vibe and everything. Overall, this is a place that I do recommend I Do not give it five stars. Because of their waiters (the girls) I know not all of them are like that, but I know a couple of them for sure you are especially the one that I think is the manager and a couple of girls that she mentioned the day that she confronted me about not tipping. read more

Nigiri style: $3.50 for 2 pcs ea. of salmon and hamachi. I wish: the slices were a little thicker than dental floss. Also, hamachi wasn't that fresh, it was starting to turn. Salmon ... Ok, my apologies ... Sushi/Sashimi snobs,(me) should just avoid ordering this type of sushi here. Just go to a "Sushi bar" and pay thru your noggen for the quality you seek. Ya, we know who we are ... ;) Ok, with that said, locals rave about Z Cafés' Angus burgers and specialty sandwiches. We ordered the California roast beef melt w/onion rings. Y'all, this is NOT arbys roast beef, this is the real deal; hand carved from a "Real Roast!" Moist and succulent roast beef, piled on a grilled sourdough with Ortega chile peppers and melted Swiss. We got the onion rings but I'd recommend you stick with the fries. Yelpers, I could come back and order this tomorrow ... (if someone would let me) and with a blood orange IPA! I'll be back! This is one of my favorite restaurants to come to when I am in Fallbrook/Bonsall! I am a fan of their Ramen Miso with shrimp tempura! I also love getting their sushi too! The spicy tuna roll is my to go to roll. The restaurant is super cool in how it's designed. Art work on their walls are awesome to look at and i notice it gets switched out throughout the year.
