We arrived for lunch, although the breakfast menu was still available and looked very tempting. I had the healthy trio with half a sandwich, salad and soup. Best pea soup I've ever had. Not a think gloppy paste, but clearly freshly made and delicious. I chose the chicken salad for my sandwich half and again it was obviously freshly made, chunky and creamy and their own recipe. My partner had the club sandwich which was filled with real Turkey, ham and bacon and could easily been for two people. He also had onion rings which had an amazing batter-style coating. The service was quick even though the place was packed with a Thursday lunch crowd. The decor is beautiful and tasteful- the bar well stocked. Two times I have called this restaurant for a pick up order and the host placed me on hold and never picked the phone back up. And THEN never answered any of my calls after that. Horrible attitude when picking up the phone and acting like they can't hear. I originally got it confused with another restaurant in the shopping center that also uses the "Z" moniker...and it sounded like others customers had the same trouble as well. This is one of my favorite restaurants to come to when I am in Fallbrook/Bonsall! I am a fan of their Ramen Miso with shrimp tempura! I also love getting their sushi too! The spicy tuna roll is my to go to roll. The restaurant is super cool in how it's designed. Art work on their walls are awesome to look at and i notice it gets switched out throughout the year. My son just had his first karate lesson and was starving. We had an hour until his next class and I told the server we were in a hurry, he's starving and can you bring the bill with our order. This was happy hour and they were packed. We had our drinks in a couple minutes and our 3 orders of food within 10 minutes. I don't think I've ever had such prompt service without compromising quality. The food was great and we had enough leftovers for 2 more meals. I paid less than if we had fast food. Adorable Cafe. What we ordered: SUSHI- Beautifully presented and tasted good. HAWAIIAN BBQ BOWL- Rice and Veggies were bland, but overall it was okay. DESSERT- We shared a carrot cake and it was delicious! The drinks are served in cute mason jars. As you walk in, you're greeted with art- everything from paintings and photography to sculptures. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The interior design- beautiful! We sat outside, which was nice and empty- THANK GOD! I definitely wasn't "head over heels" with the food, but I'd come back. They've got good prices, good scenery, and good service. read more

Food was pretty standard however the service was downright donkey shit. We had multiple missing rolls which we had to call the server for, probably got our water refilled once the whole time, and it took way too long for a server to come attend to us on the initial order. I had eaten at this place about 3 months ago & it was great. This time around it was horrible. Took 20 mins to get our coffee order. Once we ordered our food, it was another 20-30 minute wait and the server brings out the toast first, then about 5 mins after the toast, brings out 5 of the 6 people's entrees and the last person waited another 5 mins to get her plate. We picked up lunch from Z Cafe today. It was missing a key ingredient...flavor. I ordered the Hawaiian Fish Tacos. For most of my meal, it felt like I was eating chicken. The fish was dry and overcooked. It didn't have any marinade or sauce, so I added something I already had at home. If not for my sauce addition, it would have been like eating cardboard. My wife and I come here often and we used to use this place as a breakfast stop. Nowadays, we usually come here for the early bird specials and happy hour apps. The prices here are super reasonable and everything here is really good. I always get the teriyaki siracha brussels sprouts, it's my personal fave. The sushi is pretty decent and the steak is always well cooked. The service is always expedient, the food is varied and delicious. The pricing is a steal for all that you get. I no joke come here 4 or 5 times a month, it's one of my favorite dinner spots in the area and I highly recommend it. read more

The food is good, but the customer service is terrible 4 out of 10 times and i come to this place really often some of the girls are rude and obnoxious, one time the manger (or at least I think she is the manager) was angry at me and asked me a lot of personal questions to finishing up asking what is the reason I don't tip. (I do tip only when they deserve to be tipped but after that one time she confronted me about tipping ruined my whole experience and because of that I'm not longer tipping in this establishment) also when you call to do a pick up order through the phone, you can wait up to 30 minutes they answer you and put you on the hole. Sometimes they even hang up on you. It's really tedious to do a pick up order in this place because of the same reason. The ambience is good gives me a good vibe and everything. Overall, this is a place that I do recommend I Do not give it five stars. Because of their waiters (the girls) I know not all of them are like that, but I know a couple of them for sure you are especially the one that I think is the manager and a couple of girls that she mentioned the day that she confronted me about not tipping. read more

My husband brought me here, after having a fabulous breakfast 2 days prior. He was super excited to take me there. The interior is fantastic with a nice vibe. However, when my order came in, there was a hair in food. I ordered the chicken fried steak with a biscuit and gravey. My original order would have been fantastic if it were not for the hair. The second order was crap. My over easy eggs were over cooked. The chicken fried steak was soggy and the biscuit was dried and hard. I left half the meal. Very disappointed overall. A young kid was at the hostess station wrapping silverware and told us it will be a few minutes. We waited for 10min while he was wrapping silverware. He grabbed menus and silverware and said nothing to us but then disappeared for a few minutes to then come up to us (party of 3) and motion to go sit in that booth over there. Turkey cooked to perfection, flavorful throughout, dressing (oh my) cranberries, apples and celery bring back memories of my moms famous dressing. Mashed potatoes, real potatoes and gravy. Traditional green bean casserole on point, sided with fresh soft flavorful rolls. And to finish off pumpkin pie, oh just roll me over, so smooth and true pumpkin flavor. This place is very disappointing whenever it comes to takeout. I often have issues whenever I'm here and tonight was no exception. Was trying to get takeout tonight. I called them three times and had no answers, after the fourth time Chloe answered and asked to place me on hold. I was on hold for 15 minutes and then either the call dropped or I was hung up on. I decide to drive down there and when I got there I was told I had to take out at the bar. I went to the bar and the bartender asked if she could get me anything. I told her I'd like to do take out and she then told me I'd have to wait and helped all her bar customers before coming back to me (which I'm is because she knows she'll make a bigger tip off the people ordering drinks than from takeout). The food is average (not bad, not great). The atmosphere is nice. Probably an enjoyable place to eat in, but terrible for takeout. I'd strongly advise picking another option (like the pizza place that's in the same center) for takeout if you can. read more

My friend suggested for us to have breakfast at this spot and I'm so glad she did! It was an absolute delight from beginning to end. Great service. Nice atmosphere. Outdoor patio seating on the bottom and second floor. The food was delicious. My friend ordered avocado toast. It was on 2 huge pieces of toast and generous amount of avocado along with tomato's and onion. I ordered the pancake combo with sausage patties and egg whites (no extra charge) The pancakes were also huge, buttery soft and fluffy. We also ordered a mimosa and it was perfect! Props to the bartender and for which ever kind of champagne they used. Prices are also very reasonable. For my pancake combo, $9. Mimosa was $6. Not bad at all in my opinion.
