The sweet potato fries were really good, but the salt grains could be a little finer, a bit too grainy for my taste. The onion rings were also delicious. Ok, we eat at Z frequently and have always had the best meals and service. But we didn't even think to look into their catering services until we were planning a Christmas party - and WOW!! Tiffany was incredibly helpful in getting our menu planned, organizing the timeline of serving, and was so very nice all the way through the process. She always answered any questions I had, was thorough in all her communications and then she and Chef Jay blew it out of the water on our event night!! As someone who worked in weddings + events for years, I had high expectations and they did not disappoint. I can't even begin with the quantity of the food (if you know Z, you know...) and every single menu item was DELICIOUS!! The two of them were our team on site for the event who handled set up and execution and they exceeded our expectations. Our guests loved everything and we totally enjoyed their service and interaction. It goes without saying, but the food was amazing!!! Some items were customized (so awesome they did that for us!) from tray passed rib eye bites with chimichurri sauce and grilled shrimp tostada bites plus short rib quesadilla triangles... to the taco buffet and a charcuterie table for guests to graze. OH!! And for dessert they served churros in a chocolate sauce that was the best!! I'll have to add pics as guests share them with us, but we were blown away for sure. My FAVORITE restaurant. Breakfast and dinner are both amazing! They have an extensive menu with all types of cuisine which is sometimes a red flag at a restaurant...but Z cafe does everything well! By far the best place to eat in Fallbrook. This place serves Hawaiian, Japanese, and American food. I'm not too crazy about their teriyaki chicken because it was dry and the teriyaki sauce was salty. The burgers, chicken and waffles, and their breakfast items are good. They serve a big portion that feed 2 people for a decent quality and price. It's great for a local date night. We found this place a couple years ago on suggestion from a friend. So glad they mentioned it to us. Now, whenever we are in the area, we hit them up. Z Cafe offers an extensive menu with various plates to please any palate. They offer standard bar food from burgers and fries to rice bowls and salads for lunch as well as steaks, prime rib and seafood for dinner. Breakfast items include pancakes and french toast to eggs benedict and omelets. They've also brought in sake and sushi to round out the experience. Service has been spot on each and every time we've visited and the food was delicious. I've enjoyed breakfasts and lunch here both eating in and to go. The rice bowls are a perfect match of salmon (or other), rice and veggies. Breakfasts I've enjoyed included pancakes and loco moco. All in all Z cafe is a great place to eat while in Fallbrook. Their menu may be sparse, but, man, can they cook some food here. From breakfast to lunch to dinner, I've never been disappointed by any of their fare. Their portions are generous, their preparation impeccable, and the ingredients they use are delicious with just enough innovation to make each dish interesting. I recently had the opportunity to try their blue cheese ribeye. Normally I don't like blue cheese crumbles on my steaks, but the crumbles never overwhelmed the flavor of the steak and the steak was the right state of medium rare. And the mashed potatoes which accompanied it were good, if a little plain. I would gladly have that dish again if it were to be presented as a special of the night. Been here a few times since it seems to be my firends favorite spot to got out to eat for any meal breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have a nice patio area for outdoor dinning. I've tired quite a few things off the menu and other than being slightly disappointed in the French fries everything else has been excellent. Services has been good as well. I always sit at the bar so there isn't a wait to be seated. This place is packed on the weekends. I have never ordered the breakfast but it looks good. I get the chicken teriyaki plate every time because it is addictingly delicious. It comes with a salad, macaroni salad, white rice and perfectly cooked chicken. What can be said about today? I ordered my breakfast at 813 and got a confirmation that said it'll be ready in 20 minutes. I waited until 845 and went in and was told there were 4 orders ahead of me. Was told also it would be about 20 minutes and it would be brought out to me. I waited till 930 and went in to ask about it. Still not ready. I only ordered 3 entrees. Finally at 1045 I was handed my food and vanilla latte. Went home to find out the vanilla latte was a black coffee and my omelette was nowhere to be seen. So not only did I have to wait 2 hours and 30 minutes but all my food wasn't there. So frustrated by this. Don't know when I'll be back if ever after today. read more

Everything tasted pretty good, my only 2 complaints were: 1) we asked if it would be okay to order from the happy hour menu, seeing as to how it was 2:53pm when we were seated and happy hour began at 3pm; the waitress said, "No, it's too soon." By the time the food would have arrived at our table it would have been well after 3 and the happy hour items are a part of their regular menu, so it's not as if the chef/cook would have to go out of their way. 2) they didn't have any straws. How do you run out of straws?? Shouldn't someone have noticed that the supply was running short? I am so disappointed in their service . Food was delicious even though I ordered pancakes and got French toast but after waiting almost an hour and a half I just ate what was given . The way my friend and I were treated was unacceptable , I will not be coming here just for their inconsiderate customer service . I understand being short staff and COMMUNICATING that to your customers as well as letting them know when someone else who is serving them is passing the table to another server . It took us 15 minutes to be seated , 10 minutes to get our coffee without creamer and our water . It took me waving a hostess down and asking her to get someone to take our order . A "manager" telling me it's not because we are brown but that our table always gets dismissed because the way their set up is but being ignored the only table (the table next to us was taken care of ) it sure felt like it . My friend noticed this manager telling the hostess she is serving "outside " and not wanting to take our order. My friend's order was wrong too . I am so sad really enjoyed coming here . We never got offered a free meal besides a petty answer but we still tipped the waitress because we can understand miscommunication but the way they handled it was very unprofessional . read more

Z Cafe has messed up on MULTIPLE occasions, and I've had enough. For the prices they charge, it's warranted. They often forget entire entrees. They forget to put cheese on a cheeseburger. And they'll serve you foul, rotten ginger and wasabi that looks like it was scraped off someone's plate. Don't bother with the dry, old chicken tenders either. It's a 15-20 minute drive from Fallbrook, it's a huge inconvenience to go back for corrections. By the time everything is sorted, half the family has finished eating otherwise their food will get cold. It's a shame they continue to make the same mistakes, because on the rare occasion they have their $h!t together, the food isn't half bad. read more

Came for breakfast this morning with my 16 month old son. The hostess was pretty off-putting from the get go. The food was ok but what really ruined the experience was the attitude of the staff. My son started to get fussy and the hostess walked by so I asked if she could let our waitress know we were ready for the check. When the waitress walked by later I flagged her down to let her know we were ready for the check and said I mentioned to the hostess we would like the check. Her reply as she was walking away. "Yeah we're all busy..." Yep which is part of why I would like to clear out. I would have loved a box for my son's left overs but was never asked. ‍ Basically the vibe I got from staff was that I was annoying for asking for anything. I was polite and pleasant with them so I'm not sure why the attitude.
