Abysmal, please bring me Pepto Bismo!! I recently went to Zachary's Grill with a dear friend, who highly recommended it. As a seasoned traveler, I'm always on the lookout for new culinary experiences and Zachary's Grill's online menu had me excited to try the Mediterranean Shrimp and Linguini. Their website promised a fine dining experience helmed by an experienced restaurateur, with a personable and knowledgeable staff. And with Executive Chef Jody Dollear in charge of the delicious food, my expectations were high! However, when we arrived, the hostess's lack of enthusiasm was a bit off-putting and our request for an ideal table was ignored. Despite this, we were greeted by a friendly server who took our orders. While I eagerly awaited my Mediterranean Shrimp and Linguini, my friend's food arrived first. Unfortunately, when my dish finally arrived, it was undercooked and lacked in flavor. The shrimp were overcooked, the pasta lacked oil or sauce, and the tomatoes were overcooked. It was a big letdown. When I voiced my disappointment to the manager, she offered a complimentary dessert, which felt dismissive of my experience. I was hoping for a more respectful response, given the passion Zachary's Grill's website expressed for delivering delightful, unforgettable cuisine. But the manager didn't seem aware of this, nor did she seem interested in finding a solution that would satisfy me. When I asked to speak with the owner, the manager initially said he was not there, but later came back and said she couldn't reach him. By then, I was too disappointed to try to salvage the experience. Overall, I hope my feedback helps Zachary's Grill improve. I believe that retraining the front-of-house staff to work more closely with the kitchen would create a true ultimate dining experience. read more

Was looking for something new in the area (my usual go-to is Rocco's in Tinley) so did a Google search, found Zackarys and figured we would give it a try. What a great place! We started with the seared tuna appetizer with wasabi sauce on the side which was excellent. I had a side salad with house dressing (very good) and my husband had split pea soup and he said it was very tasty. For entrees I had butternut squash ravioli with duck confit and husband had strip steak. My dish was delicious and husbands steak -albeit slightly overcooked (he ordered med rare and it was closer to medium - just a smidge) was very flavorful. Very reasonable prices and nice atmosphere. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Also has a very large bar so plenty of seats in case there is a wait. Really glad I stumbled upon this place! We will definitely be back to try some other dishes that looked interesting. read more

I have been meaning to write this review for some time. My husband and I frequent Zachary's quite often. We just love their food and love the staff. In late January my brother was killed riding his bicycle. My brother would frequently meet us for dinner at Zachary's. He loved this restaurant as much as we do. When it was time to make the arrangements, we knew where we wanted to have the funeral dinner. That day ended up being one of the coldest days of winter. I think it was -23 degrees. Most business and restaurants closed that day. Zachary's stayed open for us. They went above and beyond to make his memorial dinner special. We had so many compliments on how tasty the food was and how accommodating the staff was. What really moved me was all the hugs I received from just about everyone that worked there that night. What a beautiful restaurant! Innovative appetizers, terrific salads and fabulous entrees. Since there were 6 of us we were able to really sample the menu. There wasn't a dish that we didn't love! The bruschetta of the day and the calamari were outstanding. Linguini, Pork Chops, Coconut Shrimp, Chicken Cesar Salad, all spot on and the presentation was perfect. Great atmosphere indoor and outdoor and clean clean clean. The owner Zachary is a warm and friendly gentleman and makes you feel like an old friend. If I had 1 complaint it would be that we were too full to sample the desserts settling on sharing a piece of raspberry cake. Yummiest! Even if you're not close to Palos Heights, do yourself a favor and take the drive. This is a MUST go to restaurant! read more

WOW!! The food is delicious!! The service is exceptional! My husband and I moved back to Illinois this spring and were excited to try new restaurants from our old stomping grounds! We were very impressed and will be back soon! We originally stopped at Franklins hoping it would bring back fond memories from when it was Ben Franklins. The hosts at the front door ignored us so we sat at the bar top. The bartenders that were on were standing with their backs to us talking for over 5 minutes and did not even acknowledge us. Just left Zacharys for an early dinner. I'll start with saying that it is so nice to have a local non-chain restaurant that provides consistancy with both food and service. The environment is elevated but comfortable. Its family friendly for an early dinner but also a great spot for date night. The owner is extremely nice and the waitstaff is very attentive.. Everything we've had has been delicious.. I'm a big fan of the french onion soup, the goat cheese salad and the surf and turf. It's our go to spot! read more

Zachary's Grill provides a wonderful dining experience with its cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. The menu has something for everyone, and the food is always tasty. I loved their perfectly cooked steaks and flavorful seafood. The service is quick, and the staff makes sure you have a great time. The portions are big, giving you good value for your money. You should definitely try the desserts, especially the rich cheesecake. Overall, Zachary's Grill is a great place for a memorable meal. read more

I celebrated my 80th Birthday last night with a group of 13 (including 2 8yr. olds) We were seated in front of the fireplace, which ended up being not only beautiful, but private. I ordered appetizers in advance and they were scrumptious. Everyone RAVED about their entrees and can't wait to return (even son from Wisconsin). Our waitress was a delight and serving 13 people was a real chore! I can't thank Zachary's enough for making this special birthday so memorable!!!! read more

Took my mom for lunch for Valentine's day. I like the setting. I ordered the Chicken Pot Pie and mom got the Lake Perch. Both were excellent. The soup of the day was a bit disappointing though. Cream of Asparagus was very salty with a strong hint of garlic. Also the asparagus was stringy. Service was not the best, but not due to the server, as it appears that she was the only one, and they were busy. Overall, I'd go back, but maybe not for a "holiday". read more

Best steak place on the Southside...Some of these reviews are a joke. I go there 2-3 times a week. I've had a private event and numerous group dinners all which were outstanding. I think if you had a bad experience you need to go back and give it another try. Zachary and staff will go out of the way to make it right. also a great place to catch a game and have a burger and beverage. read more

Had my baby shower here yesterday and cannot rave enough. Excellent food (we had delicious soup, warm goat cheese salad and possibly the best bread baskets I've ever had), staff and surroundings (beautifully set tables in an open, airy room) to enjoy with family and friends. Our family has been visiting Zacharys Grill yearly for the Santa brunch and it doesn't disappoint! We brought along some friends and family this year making us a table of 16. The service was great, the decor really set the Christmas spirit, Santa and Mrs Claus are seriously the best. Quite, intimate atmosphere with amazing food (especially the eggs Benedict). Had the Grouper. Wonderful. Wife had the Whitefish, which she said was delicious. However, the soup of the day (Mushroom) had so much salt in it that I had to wonder if any of the trucks had any left so that they could de-ice the streets. Also, quite heavy on the garlic. I actually have never been there. It's funny because I was just talking to a friend about this place. I am planning to check it out. I've already been on-line checking out the menu. Looks good! Zachery's is magnificent! The food is first-rate and the service second to none; not to mention the elegant atmosphere. We also take great pleasure in the live entertainment presented every Friday and Saturday night. In all, it's a terrific place to dine and enjoy an evening out. read more
