I am a neighbor. Been living in Palos Heights since 2008. Tonight was first time at Zachary's. I went with my college aged son. I must say that that staff was great. Very helpful and patient with explaining the dishes. I must say that the food was excellent! I started off with the calamari appetizer. It came dressed with garlic, red pepper flakes, and a bit of olive oil. What a lovely combination. The calamari was cooked to perfection. My son started off with the French Onion soup and he finished every bit of it, very good indeed. I call him a French Onion Soup aficionado, as he has had it at more than say 30 restaurants. This definitely ranks in his top 5. For dinner he had the Salmon, it was accompanied with rice, green beans, and a side sauce. Another winner in his book, and he is a picky eater. I could see that the salmon looked very moist and delicately prepared. He enjoyed everything on his plate. I had one of the specials which was lambshank over mashed potatoes. The lamb was soooo juicy and tender, with no gamey taste at all. It appeared to have been braised in a tomato based sauce. So delicious and a hearty portion too. Dinners also come with soup or salad. We opted for the cup of minestrone. It is a cold night tonight and you can never have too much soup to keep you warm inside. The soup was also served hot and was delicious. Definitely a homemade soup. The chunky veggies reminded me of the soups that my grandma use to make and that is a big complement, as I believe that she was the best cook ever! I've eating at some bad restaurants in my day but this place Zachary's takes the cake!!! This place is extremely over priced everything on the menu from the appetizers to the dinners even the wine was outrageously high... The service was horrible even with the limited capacity (due to covid) we were waiting over an hour for our food and then believe it or not the food came out cold. All that being said I would of been happier if I ate at McDonald's that night. Two thumbs down read more

Seriously terrible meal that cost us a fortune and was not equal to the value. I paid $33 for a supposedly "7 ounce filet" done stroganoff style. There is no way there was 7 ounces of meat in the dish, It was overcooked even though I had asked for rare, and the noodles were pretty dry because there was not enough sauce. I just should've ordered the fillet with mashed potatoes and vegetables. You would think, given that I didn't eat it, asked for a box, and took it home for the dog, that they might've asked me if there were any issues or concerns with the meal. Nope. My wife had a $27 pasta dish that literally had two pieces of shrimp in it and was, simply, white. That's a lot of money for a bowl of pasta with no protein or vegetables, but at least there was enough sauce on it. But the worst part was there was a table within our hearing, where an extremely drunk individual was talking loudly and using expletives. People at the table next to us complained and they were offered a free dessert. We didn't complain and we weren't offered a free dessert but we were actually closer to the offending party. What they didn't do was address the concerns by telling the customer to keep it down and refrain from swearing. In addition they let him leave and get in his his car with his wife and a young child (probably a grandchild given his age). Everybody inside was sitting at the bar, so we figured we weren't going to get anywhere with trying to remind then of their responsibility for drunk drivers on the road. read more

First time here, atmosphere & decor give off a sleek city vibe. The waiter,Blake-I believe, was attentive with refills & double checked for me that the entree I ordered didnt have any gluten in it. Food was good: 3 of us ordered the filet, 1 ordered the fish special. The salad, with ranch dressing, was very good. My filet was tender, even though I ordered well-done because I like it that way. Zachary's, I've been here twice in the past two weeks. OUTSTANDING Ribeye served with perfectly cooked Broccoli , Baked Potato , tasty warm bread and THE BEST type of flat bread (can't remember the name)and excellent salad. Wait staff, warm, friendly, fun, helpful and Efficient. Second meal: started with Great warm bread, delicious salad ,Schnitzel that was truly the best I've ever had, red cabbage(sweet n sour) excellent flavor and mashed potatoes. I wanted to like this place....but Upon arrival we stood at the host stand for 10 minutes. I should have known. When the host came she was so accommodating which is one reason I really wanted to like the place. Had a drink at the barb while waiting for our table, we did not have reservations. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees that came with salad. The grilled octopus took forever and was cooked properly (which was a big plus) but covered in I believe oregano and in cheap red wine vinegar. Spoiled what could have been a great start. Then it literally took 30 minutes before we got our salad....just some leaves of lettuce grape tomatoes. Why so very long. We ordered more drinks and those took reminding the wait staff of our order and ever more time. The food was just ok. Lamb and whitefish. Total time at restaurant 2.5 hours. I wouldn't mind but there was a loud and terrible "band" playing...3 guys and a beat box. Terrible voices out of tune and we were dying to leave after about an hour. $140 later....no thank you. If the band wasn't there and the service better I would go back as the food was pretty good but not great. read more

Was recently at Zachary's for a wedding reception. Fantastic service and overall great experience. Had the chance to meet Zachary himself, and felt like he and his staff went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a great time. The food was very good as well. just felt like updating my Review of one of my favorite Restaurants in the South land. All the food is exceptional tasting and the ambiance is second to none.We also like the entertainment and we will be coming to Dinner Friday night 10/12 at 7;pm to see one of our favorite acts, awesome guitarist and singer Dan Lopez. I like the Berkshire Pork Chops and my wife likes the Salmon.On Saturdays they serve Prime Rib which is simply put delicious.If they had 10 stars above we would click on that.Go there for lunch or dinner. The food appetizers were delicious. Had reservations, got there early. Had a drink at the bar. Was told about 20 min no signs of a table opening up. We ordered our appetizers at the bar. We did notice 1 table waiting for a server to close out their tab and another 2 done eating , waiting for the entertainment. The owner noticed we were there a while and offered us a cocktail. The first glass of wine was bad, but the second was good. The establishment did not have enough servers and need to have a separate location for the entertainment. A true disappointment. We have small children at home and only get a handful of date nights a year. We ended up getting tacos before heading home. read more

First time here. The Manager, right off the bat was very welcoming and accommodating. He checked on us throughout the entire evening. Great food and drinks. We had light appetizers. Our waiter was knowledgeable and on his game. It has a downtown atmosphere and trendy vibe with their unique decor. An awesome band played our requests throughout the night. Went there for the first time last night for my wife's birthday. It was fantastic. The staff, especially Cindy, was exceptional. For starters my wife had the french onion soup which she loved and I had the cauliflower and dill soup which was outstanding. For the entre my wife had the Chicken Milanese and I had the Berkshire Pork Chops. Both were outstanding. We loved the fact that we were not rushed and the ambience was perfect. What a disappointment! This place wants to be fine dining but it is not even on par with a family style Greek joint for 1/3rd the price. To start, I asked the server what bourbons were available- she replied- what do you want? I explained- I wanted to know my options! (I got up and went to the bar to view the selection). I ordered the $46.00 grouper as I am a big grouper fan. I admit, I did not ask how much the specials were when the server explained them, but I did note it was not mentioned. I was served a very small HALF portion of fish with some cold, dry mashed potatoes. It was disgusting! I asked if there was any sauce or gravy for the potatoes and could they at least be warmed up- they came back cold again- and still with no butter, sauce or gravy. The server inquired as to how our meal was and I again said the potatoes were still cold, dry and disgusting. She did nothing. During dinner, my cousin asked about the wine choices- same response (and I say this in my head with the voice from AL's diner) what do you want? At that point, my cousin told me of two other experiences she had at the place in which her dining companions had been very disappointed. I said- "why did you suggest this place and why do you keep coming here?" She said - "the girls like it." But really? Okay- t's still new. However, this very average food at these grotesquely exaggerated prices with this gum-chewing, slop-slinging attitude will not last long. I get a few folks will keep coming for the cheesy but fun entertainment but I imagine most will stop to dine somewhere else before spending their time and money to be insulted as this imitation silk purse is exposed as the pig's ear sack. read more

Searched Yelp looking for a steakhouse and found this place close to home. Honestly, I wish I had not recommended it to our friends. What a disappointment. One person in our party ordered a Moscow Mule the waitress came back to announce they were out of ginger beer. Only one waitress for the whole place, I realize it's Wednesday but it shouldn't take two and a half hours to get through dinner. She was pleasant enough just very slow. Tried to have conversation with the bus boy but he never acknowledged being spoken to. One person ordered the lamb shanks only for the waitress to come back and say they were out of them. Two of us had the ribeye special. Didn't know a ribeye came that thin, it was terribly over cooked. No choice of potatoe, not everyone likes mashed. Coconut Shrimp was dark and tough. Have no idea where Zach was. Dinner for five = 300.00 with tip, ouch! read more

Amazing city atmosphere! Food is delicious, I've never tried something I didn't like. My husband and I tried the Trio and Chilean Seabass over the weekend, FANTASTIC. Mediocre at best. Everything is priced like a high-end restaurant but the food, service, and atmosphere are everything but. I had the braised lamb, which was a huge letdown. Any time you remove the natural flavor of lamb in favor of some terrible wine-sauce, you've failed. You could barely taste the lamb. Thumbs down to the chef. Other noteworthy flaws: my wife's steak was undercooked, the bread was clearly not fresh, and the restaurant was extremely cold. If you feel like dining out and have a decent palate, don't ever come here. read more

The food is exceptional and the atmosphere is very pleasant, but we were very disappointed on how we were treated on New Year's Eve. They took our reservations for 5 for an early dinner. The restaurant was prepared with wall to wall empty tables. We were seated right by the front door and hostess table. Every time the front door opened we were blasted with cold air! One of our guests had his back to the hostess table and was frequently bumped when someone walked by. We tried moving our table to give him some relief! We asked to speak to a manager 3 times and no one came.When we left, the restaurant was still 90 percent empty, so we could have been seated at a more comfortable location. This was my first time here with friends for lunch. Had the lunch special of 1/2 sandwich and cup of soup. Good price and one of the best tuna sandwiches I've had - Yes, I'm picky about my tuna! The soup of the day was lacking...very very salty - cream of chicken soup. I could barely eat it. Overall service was good, the restaurant was clean and the food was prompt. I will be back because all of the other positives with the restaurant, maybe try dinner sometime, although it can be a trek from Lombard. read more

I needed a place to have a memorial luncheon for my mom and Zachary's is just down the street from the church. They are not open for lunch but when I called and asked he opened the place just for us. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves. Greek chicken is not normally on the menu but when I asked for it they said sure we can make that! The food was wonderful the service was personal friendly and professional.They even let me bring a flash drive with some pictures and put it up on their big screen during the event. Great new restaurant opened a couple weeks ago in Palos Heights. You need to try Zachary's! All their meat is prime and fish is fresh daily. Nothing frozen served here! Try their strip steak, it is melt in your mouth great. Fresh cut french fries. Fish is fresh so it sells out daily. The owner, Zach, is dedicated to customer service, great food & reasonable prices. We heard about Zachary's from a friend, so we gave it a try on the Friday before Christmas. Could not say enough about the whole experience. The T-bone steak that was one of the specials could not have been better. Didn't like the vegetable that came with it but Zachary's switched it out for another. Not as easy to do at other restaurants when ordering a special. Usually have some left to bring home but not tonight. Great holiday atmosphere with all the decorations. They had a band that started up just as we were finishing dinner, so we went and sat at the bar for a nightcap. After a hectic week leading into the Christmas holiday we couldn't have landed in a better spot for dinner. Thanks to the staff for a great evening. We will be back!!! read more

Nice patio. We went to this establishment for the first time. The staff is pleasant, the greater/host who I assumed was the owner (Zachary) was very friendly and was involved with many aspects of the service. We were asked if we wanted to sit either on the patio or in the dining room; we chose the patio the weather was perfect. One of the best patio environments around, beautiful flowers and quiet surroundings makes this patio a must. I started with a Margarita. It was very good, tall cool, chunky salt and a perfect balance between sweet and sour. I have a Chilean Cabernet that was robust and true to a classic Cabernet. My guest had a Riesling. Both portion were plenty and good price/value. Now the food: We started out with the Calamari. It was a generous portion lightly dusted with a slightly crisp breading; it was tender and seasoned with some kind of oil. The oil sank to the bottom of the dish but could have been omitted. A slight dusting of a spicy powder might have been the correct answer here. The sauce was nice, a very light mayonnaise with something mixed in. It suited well with the calamari, if you're into mayonnaised based sauces. I had the Warm Goat Cheese salad. It was nice. The goat cheese was evenly breaded in a panko breading and golden brown. The greens- field greens seemed to have a dressing but was so light it was undetectable. This salad could have benefited from a dressing; I thought the dish as a whole was on the dry side. The goat cheese was nice but a bit dry and needed some kind of moisture. The dried cranberries (or cherries) and candied walnuts were pleasant but everything needed cohesiveness. I had the Zachary's Personal Favorite pasta. It was nice. With correctly cooked chunks of chicken (cut in cubes), plenty of a spicy sausage and 2-large perfectly cooked shrimp on top made this dish worth the money. The server said it was spicy and it was, but not too. The paste was al dente and the sauce was light and of a light consistency but a little on the oily side, it seemed like some of the oil leached out from the sausage but was acceptable. I would have liked natural chunks of sautéed chicken and more vegetables. I think every plate we had had a healthy dose of balsamic glaze squiggled on every plate we received. I don't know if that's worked for every dish we had; a change-up might have been nice. My dining partner had the Mediterranean Sea Bass. It looked nice, was an adequate portion and cooked correctly. The table service was good. The back waiters were pleasant, polite and attentive. The server was run of- the-mill, efficient and proficient but didn't offer any conversation or expertise about the menu. I heard music when I sat down but never after the first 10 miuntes. read more

Had lunch here today. this was my third time here and my last time. Lovely atmosphere but it does not make up for the food. Ordered beef tips which came with rice which I hate so asked if I could vegetable of the day instead. Waiter responded "How do you want that?" Did not know how to answer that question so answered " Just vegetable and no rice." He became very annoyed and said do you want on separate plates. That is how he should have stated the question originally. He did not bring bread till we asked for it. The portions were small and just average in taste. Had a glass of wine which was really half a glass. Bill was $27.00 . Just a heads up a 20% tip is added to the bill. Too bad, this could be a very nice place to go but they will not see me again. read more

We ate here while traveling and will definitely be back on our next trip. The staff was very professional and good was amazing. There were 4 of us, I didn't care for my meal and didn't eat much. They refused to let it go until they felt they had made it up to me. I give it 5 stars based on the outstanding service and pride they take in their restaurant.
