Started with the house Cabernet. Tasted like a bad knock off of Welch's grape juice. Ordered a "Well Done" bar pie "special" (sausage peppers & onion), emphasizing on "Well Done". The pie was not even crisp (and no onions). Informed bartender, he agreed, sent it back, soon the new pie arrives. Sadly, it was not crispy, far from it, first one was better. I gave up. My opinion, this place has horrible wine, pizza and is way overpriced for what they serve. We will NEVER return. Even at half price it's not worth returning. I'd skip it if free. We tried Zachary's not knowing what to expect but it was close to an event we were attending later in the evening. I think we found a gem. Very casual, comfortable bar area with large booths and a large bar. We opted for wings, which were perfectly done and had an unusual, tangy take on Buffalo sauce that was excellent. The super thin crust pizza is easily a solid homage to another shore classic, one that still holds the trophy but this one is no slouch. Great beer selection, either bottled or on tap. We needed to plan for lunch after a funeral. Since I was from out of state, I made arrangements by telephone. We did not know the exact time or number of people but the manager was extremely patient and flexible. The tables were ready and the waiters served beverages as soon as we arrived. The food was plentiful and delicious. The eggplant parmigiana was incredible. We were allowed to stay as long as we wanted and felt very comfortable there. I love the thin crust pizza FOR YEARS!!! the other night I picked up 3 large and they were not crispy as requested and they had a distinct taste of onion when ordered plain. I called asking for a refund. Manager told me to drive them back if I wanted the refund!!!!!! The non customer focus response and his overall arrogance was turned around as he said " why are you yelling? I'm gonna need those pies". Well I will never have another pie or anything else there, so I guess he has all the pies he will need. Oh and he also finally said OK ma'am I'll credit your card. Usually I would give 5 stars bc I go here often get take out often. But tonight I ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. I asked clearly for the dressing and chicken on the side, bc they serve hot grilled chicken and it wilts all the lettuce. Simple enough. Dressing was on side and chicken was not. I nicely told the take out girl that I asked for chicken on the side and wanted different lettuce bc that lettuce would be wilted. I got the same lettuce with newly cooked chicken on the side. The lettuce was warm and wilted. The takeout salads should be served w chicken on the side. Because by the time you get it home, the chicken has wilted all the lettuce. Not only did she seem annoyed after she got my order wrong, but I got the soggy lettuce back with new chicken. Maybe Zacharys needs to streamline their take out. I have worked in the restaurant business for 20 years on and off, and if your only job is to take an order, you should take the order correctly. I had to wait another 15 min for new chicken when all I asked for was new lettuce and chicken on the side. Got multiple eye rolls from the girl in take out, the only one who works there. It was her mistake. The ticket did not say chicken on the side. I clearly stated my request. The attitude I received was unnecessary, as was the soggy lettuce. FYI all take out salads should have meat on side if you're serving it warm bc by the time it gets home its soggy lettuce. She tried to charge me twice as well. I've been here 3 or 4 times for lunch. The food is okay - pizzas are the best option - but the service is the slowest I've ever endured. Do not expect to take less than 2 hours for lunch here. It is nice to sit outside. Avoid all seafood dishes - they are strangly horrible for a restaurant so close to the ocean. Lunch special menu is a good deal. read more

Clams on the half shell very good, pizza is thin crusted & tasty, boneless buffalo wings are great. Sirloin steak on special menu was lean & tender, veggies are fresh, cooked perfectly not mushy, I had 1/2 roasted chicken it was delicious & juicy white meat! Salads are fresh, cold & crispy, included with dinner. The warm rolls & stuffed slices of bread awesome, also included. Have not been in there for some time. Went Sunday evening we had prime rib, chicken & eggplant parmesan. All cooked nice and steak was on the money. Salads are good. Waiter was a little slow getting back after serving drinks, but overall I would definitely come back. read more

BEST THIN CRIST PUZZA. The best in the area, or even a little outside of the area. Great atmosphere, with a dining room and a bar. Lots of seating, too. Many TVs in the bar room! You won't regret taking a few pies of thin-crust pizza home, too. Just an AWESOME PLACE. read more

My husband and I love thin crust pizza (Pete & Elda's Bar/Carmen's Pizzeria in Neptune is the BEST) but we live in Eatontown. We were told that Zachary's pizza was just as good and closer so we decided to give it a try....what a mistake! Neither place is cheap but at least Pete & Elda's Bar/Carmen's Pizza is worth it. At Zachary's we ordered an extra-large cheese pie with extra cheese and onions. We paid $20 and change. When I picked up the box I couldn't believe how light it was. I checked when I got outside to make sure there was even a pizza in the box. There were literally about five very small pieces of onions on each slice (we paid $2.75 for this topping!) The cheese was disgusting. It had the consistency of cheese that has been reheated (i.e. tough and chewy). I cannot figure out why people rave about this pizza. Zachary's was a complete disappointment and we won't be returning - it was a rip-off and it was disgusting! I only gave it 1 star because I wasn't able to give it no stars! read more

Zachary's is the best place to go around period. They are wheel chair accessible and do take reservations. The specials they have are quality dishes with portions that most can't finish at one sitting! When a business in Monmouth County can say they have been family owned and operated for over 15 years that is admirable to say the least. I have had catered functions & numerous family gatherings at Zachary's and have seen the "Zachary Boys" grow up to be fine responsible men. George did a good job! NO ONE IS PERFECT but Zachary's strives for perfection and they go out of their way for their customer more than any place I have ever dined except for my grandmothers table. read more

When i sat down and started to eat i though i was on a episode of kitchen nightmares or kitchen impossible right before they destroy the place. the place is very plain and dirty. but who cares about the decor if the food is good but its not. the food was overcooked, balsamic dressing was old and strong vinegar taste. mash potatoes were not fresh or real. no taste. i got the flounder stuffed and it was overcooked rubber taste. i didn't finish the salad or meal. soda taste good. i wish i could've ran out on the bill thats how bad it was. the bread they gave was old and tough and i am sure it was given from different tables that had already eaten and there bread that was left over. i sat with other guest and they had the same views as mine. i can tell you they give you allot of food but its not worth it. 2 out of 5 people took home left overs and they didn't care to reheat them so they threw them out. i would love to see this place on kitchen impossible or nightmares. maybe i will right to them thanks good luck hopefully this review helps. also i never tried the pizza which some people gave it good reviews but i doubt its something to go there for. read more
