Came here with the girls as we wanted to check out Wynwood walls and needed a lil pick me up before we started to explore. One of the girls did share that she wanted to check out this bakery and I was unaware of how cute and nice this place was! It sure does smell delish right when you walk in and spotless here!!! The girls and I decided to share the salmon sandwich and another one I cant remember and we all ordered our own flavor lemonade and a cookie to share. The sandwich was super good with great spread and combination of cheese and meat! IT was super flavorful and we enjoyed every bite! Their drinks are a tad bit different than your norm but nonetheless still great! I had the hibiscus lemonade and I loved every slurp of it! The cookie was also super moist and soft. And we got what was left as they were a few hours till close and many of their other items were already sold out. We arrived late in the afternoon and it wasn't surprising to hear that they ran out of almost all of their pastries. I really wanted to try their plain croissant! We ordered the almond croissant which was one of the final few baked goods left. It was delicious! It had a little cookie on top which made it sweet but really good. On our adventure in South Florida, we stopped at this small but busy place. Everything there is baked in house, which is awesome. I did start off with a Lavender latte and boy was it so yummy!! Give that a try. All of the food we ordered was great with the exception of the mushroom toast. The mushroom toast was a bit much for me. I am bummed that I didn't take a picture of it as I was definitely distracted. It came with a spread of ricotta on the toast and then the mushroom salad on top. The mushrooms were in this oily sauce which wasn't bad however the whole thing didn't go together. I thought the mushroom was combined with the ricotta as like a spread but no. I had to remove some of the mushroom off the toast as it was not easy to eat with the oil dripping off the toast. The server was attentive which was great. The place itself has the typical aroma of baked goods which super. We did have to wait about 20 mins for a table. Place is small therefore you can't wait in the restaurant however there is plenty around the area to keep you occupied while you wait. As always, enjoy! read more

First off, the bread. Wow. Just wow. I'm a bread lover, and Zak's bread blew me away. The seeded baguette was the real star of the show. It was perfectly crusty on the outside with a delightful crunch from the seeds, and the inside was soft, chewy, and packed with flavor. It's one of those breads that makes you feel like you're sitting in a bakery in Paris. Service was great, and the server was nice enough to tell us that if we bought bread at the same time as we purchased the meal (even though it was to go), we'd pay a surcharge. So, buy the bakery items at the bakery counter. Really, the bakery items are the only things you should buy because food prices left me with some serious sticker shock. I ordered a simple breakfast plate and a coffee, and my wallet felt lighter than it should have for what I got. Don't get me wrong--the ingredients were high quality, and it's kosher, so it's going to be more. But it's hard not to feel a bit gouged when you're paying $20+ for a plate of eggs and toast. I understand Miami can be pricey, and Zak the Baker is a hotspot, but the value didn't quite match the cost here. Ofer got the frittata sandwich, which was $15 without a drink or a side dish, and no little salad, fries, or anything else. Not even a garnish. My advice is to go for the bread. Stock up on a baguette, a loaf of seeded rye, or even some pastries to take home. But if you're planning to sit down for a full meal, just be prepared to shell out quite a bit more than you might expect. The bread is a solid 10/10 for me, but the meal prices bring the overall experience down to an 8. I'll be back--but mostly to raid the bakery section. We let a staff member know we were there and finally got the cheese danish. He told us to wait by the bar for the coffee. Once there i ask the barista if she had my coffee and rudely was told to wait by the other side of the restaurant... 15 minutes go by AND STILL SHE HASNT CALLED US- people ordering were receiving their coffees within 2minutes. At this point i go back and she once again rudely says that we were an online order and should've told her from the beginning.... i could've but we were barked at when we first attempted to tell her. Horrible service, i get they're busy and honestly im happy they got recognition but this does not justify being rude to loyal costumers. Also parking is $20 in this area...... insane for breakfast they really need a lot for their costumers. Taking all things into consideration i cant get myself to rate them the 5 stars i would've easily given them when they first opened in 2012. I've purchased from them a few times, all their breads are 10/10, our favorite dish is the salmon burger. The matcha latte is fantastic. Their avocado spread is fresh and perfectly seasoned. Definitely my go-to bakery in the entire Miami metro area. While a little too trendy, these folks really do it up right in Wynwood. Particularly on weekends it is a very popular place for brunch. Starting out as a very authentic home-made and high-end bakery, Zak's has branched out into savories and brunch foods. Please note there is a bakery location and a cafe location. My absolute favorite here is their cranberry nut sourdough bread. Unlike most cranberry- or berry-based breads this one is not particularly sweet. It tastes like someone's grandmother who is an insanely good cook made it from scratch in her kitchen. However, MY grandmother's kitchen never had the adorably sweet and very cute counter-men selling the bread the way Zak's does. Wynwood can be a traffic nightmare on weekends, so Uber or Lyft might be the best option. If you're close enough, biking is also a pleasant way to explore Wynwood. In a pinch, use pay-by-phone parking on side streets if you drive yourself there, and avoid the overpriced private lots.
