Witnessed prejudice from the staff towards an African American man. Everyone else was greeted & instructed to put our names on a waitlist even though the employees were helping other guests at the time. About 10 mins later, this African American man comes in & neither of the employees greet him or tell him about the waitlist. He is standing there for several mins obviously needing help & the staff continue to ignore him as if he's completely invisible. I confronted one of the workers about it saying that he was the only person no one greeted & she claimed they were too busy with their guests. I call BS. They did not want to help him let alone acknowledge his existence based on how he looked. Will not be back or recommend . And I'm upset because Yelp keeps deleting my comment. read more

So I am pretty bummed that after only 8 months, a diamond fell out of my engagement ring. I am not "rough" with my hands by any means and I take my ring off when I am cooking, cleaning, etc., and at night before bed. Luckily it was one of the smaller diamonds and my Fiance purchased the extended lifetime warranty, but for a $9K ring, you would expect a hell of a lot more out of the quality. The associates at this store just seem incompetent to tell you the truth. The associate that assisted us with this transaction was not apologetic and did not have much reasoning as to how the stone fell out, which was just annoying in itself. I also questioned the size of my rings because although I measure at a size 6, my rings are actually loose. None the less, the repair is estimated to take 2 weeks, but I guess we are fortunate that this happened now and not days before our wedding. Still very disappointed in Zales. read more

I went in Tuesday afternoon to get my rings cleaned. The man behind the counter asked if I had account with them for discounts and sales and what not. I said no, and he said he could check using my social security number. Thinking he was looking up a customer account, I agreed. He couldn't find me on the computer initially, but he plugged in something and just as I look down at the credit card swiper, I catch a few words of text with a red button and a green button. Before I know it he turns around and selects the green button and a screen pops up to enter my social. The words before that said I was agreeing for Zale's to open a credit card with my social. I thought it was an email newsletter of some kind. He said NOTHING about opening a card. When I asked him he said that I didn't have to put anything on the card, just use it for the deals. I said no, got my rings and walked away. I can't imagine how many people were duped into getting a credit card like that. I think it was a sneaky thing to do. It's like they don't know how to answer the phone. I purchased a ring here after going through the Zales financing process. I was approved within minutes and was told the ring I wanted would be resized within a week. It's been about a full business week since the promised date, still no update from Zales. I chat with their online support team (Since the local store doesn't feel like answering their posted telephone number) and they tell me the date has been moved back another week without any explanation or reason. I feel like I'm getting shafted here. I'm going to give it one more week, and from there I either add or remove a star. Note - If you get anything sent in for resizing/repair, there is "no way" to contact anyone in the repair department. Note II - They also lack the ability to link an order with your online account. If you purchase anything in-store, they do not have a way to tie that in-store purchase with an account you create on their website. read more

Zales Garentee trade in or upgrade credit is a lie. I bought a promis ring from the engagement section for almost 1000 bucks then recently upraged to an engagement ring worth 4300. They had a promotion going on and discounted all the rings so when they entered it in the computer they said they cant do both discounts, but ones a discount that every one gets and ones and upgrade credit. Its like getting life insurance from your employer and buying a 3rd party insurance just in case and when you retire you only get one retirement plan the one that everyone has so you basically just wasted your money. The Garenter upgrade trade in value in is a lie.There was no advantage for being a loyal customer I should have went somewhere else. read more

The only reason why they aren't getting 5 stars is staff. I have only been in this outlet 3 times. Once to look with my boyfriend (now fiancé) for rings, get resized/damage repair, and for pickup. The first visit was exceptional! Jessica was amazing and I highly recommend her. She deserves 6 stars just for being an amazing human. Second visit I went by myself in grub workout clothes, had the ring in a box since it was damaged (cracked) and I asked the lady in the front (never gave me her name) if I could have this fixed and also resized. She at first didn't even want to take the ring since I didn't have the purchase paperwork from when my fiancé bought the ring. Side note.. I have rings from other places and i have never run into this problem with having to bring in the original document. I told her without hesitation his full name and number and she just looked it up with one raised eyebrow and a rude manner. My fiancé told me that he purchased the package deal for damages and size repairs and the gal said "well if you don't have the deal then you'll just have to pay out of pocket, can you do that!" I honestly just raised my eyebrow back and said yes and she just smirked, raised that eyebrow more and looked it up with attitude. For contact when the ring would be picked up, she didn't even include my number because she only trusted my fiancé with pickup. She even asked "we will call him when it comes back... will he relay the message back to you..." really.... I'm marrying this man... i live with him... honestly wow. After all was in the computer she finished it handed me the receipt and looked me straight in the eye "bring this receipt back or you won't get the ring back." I just said okay, kept it in my car for the whole two weeks and brought it in today to pick it up. Well I was in my scrubs from work so also grubby clothes again, brought the receipt and went up to a different gal (didn't catch her name) and she was hesitant since I was told to bring it in. She asked for my ID and I did but I told her it isn't under my name it's my fiancé, told her the lady didn't even ask me from my name or number since she didn't trust me. She was able to look it up via scanning the receipt and come to find out i was actually under approved pick up from when he purchased the ring. I said if it's a problem he can come in and get it. She said no worries we can do it. I asked her do clients need to bring in the receipt for pickup... she said with a confused look and said noooo.... I laughed. She asked for that other lady's name and I said she didn't give it to me but there was her associate number on the receipt. They reminded me, and I know, that if I felt or ever feel uncomfortable with an associate just ask for another one. However when I went in everyone was busy. So I could have but I would have gotten royal Bitch back in my face from her. I am just glad that this review can end on a good note and now I know who to stay away from. The lady's today (3 of them helped me since they heard the horror story from previous) and made sure my time today was enjoyable and listened to my complaint. I don't know what they will do with my info I gave them but I hope she gets talked to. I understand how stressful life is right now and how clients can be so rude but please... treat others with the kind compassion you also wish to receive. I came into Zales a few days ago. Tom helped me and was very friendly which was refreshing. My issue came when I was buying my partner his ring and was interested in hearing financial options. Realistically, no one wants to drop $1000 if they have to even if they have that much in the bank. Payment plans make things easier especially if you have bills to pay. Tom knew that we are in the process of buying a house and said it would only be a couple points on my score to check if we had more options. I asked about a payment plan. Instead, he signed me up for a credit card which I absolutely did not want. Had he said he would be signing me up for a card, I wouldn't have been interested. Now I don't know if I cancel the account my score will drop, etc. My partner didn't like the ring, so when I went to return it, the associate said she'd just put the money back into my account to which I asked if Tom signed me up for a credit card. She looked at me as if I were a fool and said yes. When I told her I didn't know about it, she gave me an attitude and said did he not ask for your social security or anything? I said yes but I thought it was for a payment plan. She said if you get the card, you can pay in increments. I told her I didn't know about that and some places do offer payment plans without a card. Since buying the ring, I felt really weird and confused about the whole situation. When I asked Tom how to pay, he said we pay buy mail. I asked if I could have automatic payments and he said maybe. Once I started asking more questions about payments, he was really vague and that didn't ease my anxiety at all. Now that I came back into the store to have more answers, I'm really disappointed. You should never be unclear about signing up for a credit card. That's dishonest and not cool to the customer. The woman who helped me didn't have an interest in assisting me and gave me a number that didn't work for customer service. I went to the Zales website and found customer service. My boyfriend bought me a chain here on 12/24/15. A couple of weeks after he bought the chain it broke. I recently took it to zales to have to fixed about a month ago they told me it costed $24.99 to send it out and have it fixed. My boyfriend picked it up 3/17/16 in the afternoon and payed the $24.99. When he gave it to me I noticed that the soldering job was horrible. It was very noticeable that the chain had been fixed. If I had been the one to picked it up i wouldn't have left the store with it looking the way it did. About 30 minutes ago I was standing in my bathroom and the necklace broke and fell onto the floor. I couldn't believe it broke because I didn't even touch it. It's 3/19/2016 at 3:20am and it hasn't even been two days since he picked it up and I once again have a broken chain. We bought our wedding rings and my engagement ring from Zales in the Solano Mall in Fairfield. We have had nothing but issues with this place, I had my engagement ring resized and it took me 3 weeks to get it back, I had my engagement ring for less then 6 months and a diamond fell out and trust me I am not rough with my jewelry, I found it missing when we were on a plane for a vacation. Their customer service is deplorable, there is a sales representative there by the name of Jessica, she does not listen to you, we took my engagement ring in along with the wedding banned to have them put together, we told her that it needs to be a size 7 when it is done. Well she didn't listen and when I got the rings back they were a 6 1/2, which of course did not fit, so we had to send them back for another sizing, it's to bad she don't listen to the customer, I even got my finger sized again while we were right in front of her and she saw it was a size, and all she said was a 6 1/2 will be a little snug, but it will fit. She was not professional at all, she also changes things on you, when we bought the engagement ring we got our military discount, however, when we bought the band she didn't want to give us our military discount, she said that it wasn't policy, which we knew was wrong, so we had to push her to give us the discount. I would not recommend Zales in Fairfield to anybody, but if you go STAY AWAY FROM JESSICA, you will get a bad deal. read more

I'm redoing my rating Because Jessica before had made my experience amazing but after speaking to her today, she was beyond rude and hard to talk with. Seems like she's only nice when she's trying to make a sale. How did previous experience where I tried to get a ring and the guy kept giving me different prices and ended up telling me was one price but we went to pay was a total another price. She was able to get us the ring for a lower price but she had originally told us a different price. However, I still got the ring because it was still within the higher end of the price range of what we can afford. Something personal recently happened to where we have to go ahead and pay a lot of money out of pocket and so I called to ask about returning the ring (it's still within their 60 day return policy). Long story shorter, she was very disrespectful because when I explained to her the situation she kept mentioning " well when you first got the ring you made it seem like it was the perfect fairytale and in your price range" which I told her was true but like I said our situation occurred unexpectedly. She kept making comments just like that and making me feel really low, especially since I'd be left without a ring . I told her she was being very rude and laughed out loud and said she would call back after speaking to a co-worker. Didn't even apologize or anything. I called and talked to corporate so thankfully they were nice and understanding. In the future when we can get a new ring, it won't be at THIS Zales . I think this was meant to be , she's bad luck. We have used Zales as our jeweler for the last 25 years. My husband bought my first promise ring there and everything else since then. They are very friendly, the prices are reasonable and if there is an issue with something that you do not like they fix it for you very quickly. I have shopped around at other jewelers and the quality of their jewelry and the work that they do does not compare the Zales. We could not be happier with them!
