Loved the ambiance. Due to Covid I had a long wait because my friend and I didn't have a reservation. Nonetheless we waited patiently and snatched some seats at the bar. Lovely options of bottles of wine. My friends and I were starving so we ordered many things off the menu. Just to name a few, the paella, mussels, Zanata house salad, chicken with risotto, and seared tuna salad. We also ordered two bottles of wine. It was the perfect girls night. Oh the stuff was exceptional! Even though they were busy, they were very attentive. It was nice seeing all the dishes coming from the bar. We will definitely be back and highly recommend. Came here yesterday for dinner, super excited for all the online reviews, waiter 30 mins to be seated, not bad. The waitress recommended the blue crab dip, which was really good and recommend. On the other hand, the pie that I ordered for the table, "Spiked Happy Hour" was honestly the biggest joke. I have eaten a lot of pizza or pies all around, this thing was literally dough and toppings on top, no SAUCE, no flavor whatsoever. I asked for well done crust and got a white crust all around pizza. Terrible. It was a pretty bad disappointment, hungry from hell and to eat that sucks. Other than that service was excellent quick and not sure how you can mess up a house sangria and a draft beer. But if you get anxious easily maybe just order Togo cause i have to, idk what it is but the restaurant can be really loud and have lots of people and I can't stay in an environment like that for to long. We decided to visit downtown Rockwall to check out the dining options for Saturday lunch. After checking the reviews we decided to try Zanata. I can say I'm glad the drive is not too far because we will be back. The service, with Sarah, was excellent. We started with the stuffed avacado with crab appetizer. It is a cooked appetizer so know that, but it was delicious. I had the Z Salad and half BLTA. Can't say enough about the salad with candied pistachios and figs. The sandwich had perfectly cooked bacon, perfect amount of avacado and you could taste the drizzle of quality olive oil with every bite. My wife had the pepperoni pizza. I tasted it. It was one of the best pizzas I've had flavor wise. Got a little soggy the more it sat but I didn't care. I can't wait to come back and try other menu items. read more

Zanata is a fantastic Italian restaurant! I deducted a star for two reasons. First, it's loud, but this could be rectified if they would hang something on the walls to absorb sound. Second, the menu is very limited. It's honestly a specialty pizza restaurant with some Italian entrees. That being said, everything we were served was absolutely fantastic, and the service was excellent. If you are looking at the menu and wondering if what you picked will be good, the answer is YES. Raw food & covered up ingredients in kitchen We've been a long time fan and community supporter of Zantas. Tonight was a different experience than ever before. Some members of staff came across as if they had a few too many drinks which made for a chaotic wait and evening. We waited an hour, which we did understandably due to the dinner rush. Once seated, we were greeted after another long period after we were sat. The server came took an app order and didn't come back until he brought our app. So another chunk of time before we were able to order our meal. Time to order: Placed my regular order and made it very clear to not add a cheese garnish to the order. Expressed multiple times that it had been an accident in the past, I am allergic to Dairy, and we had been waiting for 1.50 hours and we were hungry. Food began to make it's way to our table and I noticed a conversation about my plate and my husband's meal returned to the open fire kitchen area. My meal has cheese on it. I saw it as they made it almost to the table before turning it around. The server called it back from the food runner and brought it to the chef's attention with a conversation. The chef proceeds to put my food back into the wood fire oven. Within two minutes, our food was dropped at the table with very little discussion. As the server proceeded to run off, I called him back to note that melting the cheese on top of my meal to hide their mistake was unacceptable. He rushed off with my plate and 15 mins later, they return to drop and run again. Guess what... Food is still wrong. We are now almost two hours in, my husband sitting at the table with cold pizza and my food raw from the kitchen. No conversation. No correction. No apology. No substitute. We left with a to-go box for my husband's pizza. No food for me. No manger table conversation. No server conversation. Nothing. The server dropped the check as he ran by and did the same on the way through to run our card. Zantas would never have handled themselves in this way before. Accidents happen. An explanation and hospitality 101 would have changed this scenario 100xs over. Disappointed and disgusted is an understatement. read more

Ambience: The ambience is very cozy and nice making it an ideal place for a date nightt, business meal and/or family dinner. A very nice place that makes you want to stay for a long time. Service: The staff here is very good and delivers great service. They pay attention to why you are there and serve appropriately. I appreciated their knowing our reason for being there and delivering food and service accordingly at a high level. Food: The food is the major driver of my five stars for this restaurant. The three of us share three dishes and I highly recommend them all. First was a pizza since the boast old school pizza ovens. The ingredients were well balanced and well portioned on the pizza. The crust, which is always my barometer for pizza was excellent as well. Next the steak dish was very good. Knowing this wasn't a steakhouse, we didn't expect a Fleming's type steak, but got something very good and not far off many popular steakhouses in DFW. The Angry Shrimp an Grits was quite honestly the best I've had anywhere. This dish gives an amazing array of flavors and textures that make you wish it was never ending. Every bite was better than the last and I was only disappointed that I had to share it with the other two! Finally to close the meal, we shared the Bananas Foster. Not only a was it absolutely delicious, but again, great textures and blends of flavors in every bite. If you got here, plan you meal to order this dessert, otherwise you'll miss the best part. Fantastic place for lunch! Although it was busy we were able to call ahead for a takeout order. The half meatball (4/5), Z salad (5/5), salmon (5/5), coconut pie (3/5) and crab dip (3/5) were good. Even with the 20 minute drive home food was still good when it arrived. Parking was tight on a Friday afternoon. Restaurant was packed. I do think their to go packaging needs some modifications. Everything about our visit was terrific! Suggest you call ahead if you can get on the wait list, everyone in Rockwall loves Zanata! We shared crab avocados as an appetizer (yum!) and then had a piggie pie pizza for dinner. It was terrific! Went ahead and splurged with dessert...we had bananas foster and our companions had coconut cream pie. While we loved our desert, the pie took the cake (!) and was the perfect ending....Oh, and then we went outside and listened to live music...that made the evening great. Unfortunate - It saddens me to write a 3 star review for Zanata as I have frequented here often and always felt it was a 4 - 5 star ...but last night was a let down. The service and food just wasn't up to par as in past visits. Last night some of the food was so heavily salted it couldn't be eaten, or being served under cooked pork. They were busy so we definitely gave grace to our server but still lacking some attention. If you stack your waitstaff their regular tables as well as a large party ask some other staffers to assist with their current tables. Rating a 3 as there were items that were spot on. But when 1 person pays upwards of $100 for a few drinks and a steak dinner I personally expect better. :( - I wanted to add they did try to compensate for the food etc. with dessert on the house read more
