One of my favorite Mediterannean restaurants in downtown LA. Despite being a chain restaurant, their food quality is still top tier. Their portion sizes are gigantic! I rarely see anyone ever finish a meal in one sitting. Prices are good for how much quality and quantity you get. Other similar places may costs ~$20 at the time of this writing for similar dishes, but Zankou Chicken was about 20% cheaper. I ordered the Chicken kebab, which you can see in the picture. It costs $16.45 (includes taxes) at the time of this writing. The pita bread alone is enough to fill you up. It comes with 1 chicken kebab and all the side orders you see. If you want another kebab, it will cost more, but again, you probably wont be able to finish it all. Service is kind of slow, about 10-15 minute wait. But during peak lunch hour times, its expected. Plenty of places to dine in and eat. Free water and utensils on the side bar. I go here often and highly recommend this place for anyone who wants decent and fairly priced Mediterranean food. read more

I never actually been to this location, but I have ordered on GrubHub . And I have to say that their food is amazing. The chicken is tender and delicious. The rice is also very hearty and delicious their hummus. I don't know if they make it there or they get it from somewhere else but that's really good. I ordered some extra pita and they literally gave me 4 extra pieces. Awesome I also really enjoy the fact that they are not expensive. and they do give you a lot of food. The prices are pretty darn great. The delivery time was really reasonable only about 30 minutes from the time that I placed the order. I can't say anything about the ambience because well like I said I did not visit their restaurant. I totally recommend either getting something to go putting an order for delivery or actually dining at their restaurant. Totally five stars without question. I love Zankou Chicken and come here often, but after my experience last Wednesday, I don't think I'll be going back for a while. I placed an online order for pickup and ended up waiting inside the restaurant for 35 minutes before finally asking for a refund because I had to get back to work. Only then was I told that the chicken tarna I ordered was out and that it would take about 30 minutes to make. No one had bothered to tell me. What made it more frustrating was that I checked on my order twice while I was waiting. I watched people walk in, place their orders, and receive their food while I continued to wait. Even the manager checked on my order about 20 minutes earlier but never explained that they were out of what I ordered or that there would be such a long delay. The restaurant was also extremely hot, and during the entire wait, no one offered me a water cup, apologized for the delay, or gave me any kind of update. Had I not eventually asked for a refund, I have no idea how much longer I would have been sitting there. I worked in food service for a long time, so I understand that things run out and delays happen. That wasn't the issue. The issue was the complete lack of communication and customer service. To make matters worse, I called the location afterward and was told someone from corporate would contact me. That call never came either, which is why I'm posting this review. It's really disappointing because I genuinely love the food here, but this is now the second time I've waited more than 20 minutes for an order. If you're in a rush, I definitely wouldn't recommend ordering from this location. read more

Which came with two sides and we got hummus and tabbouleh. It said it's good for 4 and they did not lie. I was pretty skeptical about that and after I ate I can agree that it was good for 4. The meal came with 6 pita bread. Pita was acceptable. Some pickles and garlic sauce was part of the meal. Highlight of the visit was the chicken. The meat was cooked to perfection, it was moist and soft. Seasoning was good. Highly recommended to try their chicken. read more

My husband was raving about this place and I had to check it out. We came in on a Saturday and the amount of online orders were amazing. The place has ample sitting area, dedicated online order pick up area, and different area to place an order. I'd never been here but luckily the menu had some photos to show the different menu options. We got the Tri Tip Shawerma (inside was tomato and tahini, veggie side of radish) and the 1/2 chicken plate (hummus, pita bread, veggies with radish and carrots) and the garlic sauce. The food was prepared rather quickly and was ready in under 10 minutes. Everything was pretty good and exceeded expectations. Staff was friendly, the place was pretty clean, and the bathrooms required code access (only by patrons to use). This is a good option for people on the go and in need of some delicious Mediterranean food. The choices (including the rotisserie chicken) and garlic sauce are pretty solid. Good Mediterranean fast food. Enough said. Rotisserie chicken is on point. Not my fave but really darn good. Shawarmas are flavorful and the spitz they cook on look great. The falafels are awesome and freshly cooked. They aren't usually overcooked or burnt as some place treat their falafels like after thoughts. Everything is well managed at this location. Also, the open kitchen concept helps keep the faith that I'm getting quality products. The sides and sauces are the final seal that this place is awesome. The taboulleh, tahini, hummus, and salads are fresh and tasty. The Harissa and garlic salt area Must have. Can't express how good that is. The service is fast and consistent. They strive for accuracy and accountability. And they deliver. For convenient and good food go here. Only downside is no parking, but that's a city of LA problem. I've always loved Zankou Chicken and it used to be a go-to, but after yesterday's experience, I'm beyond disappointed. I placed an online order at 10:15 a.m. for a pickup by 11, as it was for a work meeting. The order wasn't ready until 11:45, which made me late, and I got reprimanded by my boss. To make matters worse, they delayed our order because of a large corporate catering order, and it appeared they ended up throwing some of their food in with ours. Most of food was cold, and they forgot the tahini sauce for the falafel. On top of that, we had already tipped ahead of time via the app. While we've been loyal customers, we can no longer support a business that doesn't have the capacity to fulfill its orders on time. Very displeased. To make this right, we would like some kind of compensation, whether a refund, a credit. We hope you take this improvement seriously. read more

Sometimes you just feel lazy and don't feel like cooking, that's when living near a place like Zankou Chicken comes in handy. I've seen these all around Los Angeles but this was my first time actually checking this place out and I was pleasantly surprised with the experience. I came here with my wife around 6:00PM and the place was clean and full of open places to sit. The menu has a bunch of different burrito and chicken options that all looked appetizing, but the family meal was the way to go for us. The family meal came with about a full rotisserie chickens worth of roasted meat as well as some wraps, white rice, and whatever my wife ate that I didn't. After paying about $30 at the counter (which is pretty solid since it's giving us both about two full meals out of it) we took a seat and waited only around 5-7 minutes to get our food. The chicken itself was really good, being super moist and having some really good tasting skin on it. The white rice was white rice and when it was all wrapped inside of a tortilla it made for a really solid meal. Overall, Zankou Chicken is a solid spot to grab some decently priced and pretty good food. Nothing about this place blew me away or anything, but everything I had gets a thumbs up from me and I'll definitely be back in the future to try some burritos. read more

Be very careful when you go to this location. The staff will charge you for drinks you didn't order and will pretend to refund you but won't. I went there on Sunday, and ordered a soda, but the woman charged me for a yogurt drink. After I brought it to her attention, she pretended to do something on her register but didn't refund me. Food -- sucks. Man, this DTLA branch is such a disappointment. Last Tuesday, I treated a co-worker for Xmas lunch. I suggested Zankou and she never had Zankou before. I showed the menu and she said she'd like to try the chicken. I said, "Great! They are known for their delicious rotisserie chicken." I also highly recommended the garlic sauce. But, man, when we got our food, the chicken was pale and tasteless. And at the end of our meal, I asked my co-worker how her chicken was, and she said it wasn't that good. And she added that the garlic sauce made it good. Never again -- at least at this location. For the other locations, I am a fan of all the Zankou branches that I've visited or ordered in -- Burbank, Glendale, Van Nuys and West LA. But not the DTLA branch. read more

We opted for rice which was buttery. You get a bag of pita, with small containers of garlic butter ( yum) and a container with pickled turnips and pepperonis. I like coming here for lunch when I'm in DTLA. It's walking distance from my office, super easy and pretty healthy. My favorite is the chicken tarna plate with cucumber salad, sometimes the cabbage salad, and mutabbal. Of all the meat options on the menu, the chicken tarna is the most flavorful and it's great with the garlic sauce. I've tried the chicken kabob and it was a little dry, so I don't recommend it. There isn't a ton of seating, so if you're going with a group, I recommend getting there a little before noon because there's always a huge rush around 12:10 p.m. and a lot of solo diners will take tables. You can also order in advance on the app and it's ready right away. It's an easy spot to go to with coworkers because most people can find something to eat. It's also on par with the rest of the prices in the area. read more

Zankou Chicken is a great lunch spot. The food is good and they give you lots of it. It's a bit pricey but like I said, it is a lot of food. The wraps which are under $10 may be enough for a quick lunch. Otherwise I'd recommend going with multiple people and get the platter option to try different things and split the cost. I would recommend being light with the garlic sauce as it is super strong. Finally got a chance to try this Zankou Chicken, which is in the former Koja Kitchen location. Got the Chicken Tarna with two cucumber salads and tzatziki sauce. Not quite as good as the Pasadena location that I'm used to going to, but still solid. I was kinda surprised the Tahini salad that I usually get wasn't here, which is why I got the cucumber salad. Either way, the food level was what I expect from Zankou. Service was fine, no complaints from me. Since I grabbed this to go, I didn't get a chance to actually eat here.
