I never expected to find this hidden gem in Greenfield, conveniently located just off the interstate exit. I frequently drive past Greenfield on I 70 and often hop off the interstate for a quick gas stop. On this trip I needed fuel and was planning to grab a quick, late lunch and then get back on the road. I hadn't had a chance to grab lunch and it was after 3:00. However, a quick glance at my trust Yelp app brought up this restaurant, along with glowing reviews and mouthwatering photos. My plans quickly changed as I drove to Zapp instead of the fast food drive thru I was headed for. My Yelp app advises me that Zapp was closing in 19 minutes so I quickly parked and went inside. I was the only customer as they were closing at 3:30 until reopening for dinner. I quickly ordered Thai fried rice with tofu, and ten minutes later I was walking out the door with my meal. Lunch specials are available until 3:30, and my meal was hot, spicy (I had requested medium hot, and it was definitely spicy) and huge. This portion size would have easily been larger than most Thai restaurant dinner entrees. What a great change of plans this turned out to be. I never would have dreamed that an excellent Thai restaurant was located mere seconds off the Greenfield exit. Planning to return the next time I travel east of Indy. read more

Celebrating my recent achievement so decided to try out Zapps in nearby Greenfield. So glad we found this place! Thank you fellow Yelpers for the great reviews that were spot-on. Started with a large Tom Kah (coconut chicken soup) that tasted delicious. Milky and wonderful. I just about licked the whole bowl clean! We also got their Thai Dumplings appetizer. This was very tasty as well.... perfectly crispy on the outside. The entrees came -- me, with a "basil salmon delight" that was beautifully presented. The salmon was covered in veggies and a light sauce. The salmon was well prepared. My SO ordered Tiger Garlic &Pepper dinner (beef). He enjoyed it quite a lot. The location isn't too difficult to find, but it's squeezed in between Qdoba and near Starbucks. It's got a cozy feel, and yet would be good for small parties, too. The clientele that night was interesting mix of generations and some obvious army vets. Some eople were dressed somewhat casually, while others were dressed up a bit for a Saturday night out on the town. Definitely coming back. It's nice to see Greenfield has a dining option of Thai food. The shop is a bit small, so it fills up quickly. They also do a brisk carry out business. There are routine Thai options for lunch that include a chicken broth soup, a small side salad, crispy spring roll, and a wedge of orange with your order. It's a pretty good value and a tasty option instead of the numerous chain restaurants in the area. This place is located in a retail development near the Interstate. There is parking, but because there are several dining options next door, parking does get sparse around meal time. At least it is free! The restaurant is located facing State Street, but does not have direct street access. You will need to enter at the stop lights and then drive through the retail roads to work your way back to the place. The Pad See Ew was my selection and I went with chicken and the medium heat level. This level was spicier than most I've had, but not too strong to distract from the flavor. The chicken remained moist even though the meal is piled high and retains actual heat for most of the dining period. The noodles and the veggies are cut thin, but in large pieces while remaining bite sized. Really well done. The good news is that the shop is expanding into the suite next door, so it should be able to offer a bit more space for customers. A new mural was installed in the addition which looks like it will brighten the space with color as well. Service was fairly prompt though there was a short wait when I first arrived. I eat at this place pretty frequently, and I really like their food. I always get really service over the phone and in person. Quick. East. And kind people. But when I started to get takeout, I noticed a big issue, they cut the portions in half. When I order as a sit down customer in the restaurant, I get a substantial amount of food for my money and I feel very well taken care of for $23. I feel like it's a fair amount. I ordered take out the other night and I got about half of the portion. I usually get it with no change in price at all. When I brought it up - the guy kind of looked at me like I was crazy, but I pointed out they used to use Styrofoam containers instead of the plastic containers, and it seems like only half of the food actually fits in the new container when I ordered the full amount . Although their food is really great, and the staff is really amazing, it disappoints me that they change the portions based off if you dine in or take out To me personally when businesses do this, I feel a little taken advantage of because if I was a sit down customer, I would get a different amount of food in different type of service Money is money and it doesn't matter if I'm eating at the restaurant or not I should be receiving the same amount of food that I paid for and when I mean, it's a substantial difference I mean it is a substantial difference. To give you an idea I can only eat about half of the portion and I box up the other have to go when I sit down at this lovely place. And my leftovers from when I sat there didn't even fit in the to go box - so the fact they gave me only a small to go box when I ordered take out shows a big difference . read more

Very good. Ordered for pickup (delivery from GrubHub was too expensive between the delivery charge and tip) and missed the exit. Had to drive another 19 miles east to turn around plus a dead stop for 15 minutes at the construction. I was an hour late but called and was reassured the food would be waiting. It was, just inside the door. The green curry comes with bamboo shoots which I think are a cheap filler so I asked them to be left out. Done correctly. The heat level on both dishes we ordered was in line with our order. Medium green curry and hot drunken noodles. My only complaint if you can call it that is the green curry sauce was very soupy. My husband polished it off with a soup spoon. I prefer it a little thicker. We ordered shrimp in both dishes and it would be better if the tails were removed but tail on was ok. The whole experience was soured by being a hour late for the pickup but the food was very good and stayed plenty hot. One more negative: The $3 surcharge we paid for each dish to have shrimp was a little on the high side. Very good shrimp though. In terms of GrubHub, aside from the cost, I wasn't sure they'd find our campsite at the KOA so it was better to just go get it, and then the missed exit. read more

So I'll start with it's noon and this place is packed and smells great. Service is spot on and the lunch specials and price is phenomenal. We were able to ask questions and get our included soup within minutes of sitting. The broth soup was delicious and accented with a small amount of scallions and noodles. An order of Hot Ginger Tea was one of the best decisions I've made in 2020! Slightly spicy and super flavorful with just the right amount of honey. The #6 and 16 entrees were delicious and flavorful and plentiful. Definitely an establishment to revisit if ever back in these parts. Zapp is an ok Thai restaurant just off I-70 in Greenfield. It's the only Thai place in town and does a decent enough job. Of course you'll find better Thai in Indianapolis, but with competition as close as Post road, this location could up its game a little. Lunch isn't particularly quick and tends to stay busy. Like most places around, they have struggled with staffing since the pandemic and their website has been down for some time. Not a big deal except they have signs posted telling you to check their website for pricing. The heat levels don't disappoint on spicy dishes and the veggies are fresh. I will say for anyone with a shellfish sensitivity, this is the only place my wife had ever had a bad reaction to a pad Thai. So there's something different about this sauce. Overall this is a good place if you just want to stay local and like Thai food. read more

One of my favorite places until Covid and cutbacks. The last time I ordered their amazing Hawaiian fried rice with shrimp, it arrived minus the half pineapple. There were 2 shrimp, a couple pieces of chicken, 3-4 cashews, and rice. $17.00 for basically rice. Haven't been back. read more

Zapp Thai is one of my go to spots in Greenfield. The ambience inside gives a calm and casual vibe usually with jazz or lounge music subtly playing over the speakers. Zapp offers a decent wine selection and a few choice Asian beers. I recommend getting a Singha and watch the bubbles dance in the glass after you pour. The portion size, quality and price point of the meals are well worth it anytime but they definitely have one of the best lunch deals in town. I personally love heat and spicy food and Zapp can bring it! Dont fear if you have an aversion to spice they can prepare savory delicious meals without melting your lips. Our go to orders include the Mussaman curry, pad Thai, dumplings, lemongrass soup, tiger garlic, seafood madness, Puket seafood and pair it with a Thai tea( served with a napkin folded into a rose! ). The girl behind the bar said they don't take walkins 40 minutes before closing at 3 pm - when I told her the door doesn't mention it she said it does on line but maybe on the website but not Google or their FRONT DOOR - for a person who lived in the country of Thailand that has some of the friendliest people it is my first time to say that "white girl" was not only not friendly but down right rude.... This visit was the final straw. The Tom Kha gai was my Friday night pick, to relax and kick back, so I ordered it to go. It was $18, which is ridiculously overpriced...and I could see it wasn't full but whatever. I got home and poured some over my own Jasmine rice, (since they now charge $2 extra for it) and I noticed there wasn't much shrimp and it didn't smell seasoned at all. I took a bite and I was disgusted. It tasted like milk with vegetables in it. No ginger, no lemongrass, nothing. Last time I ordered the Thai green curry, it was bland and tasteless as well. I will never eat here again. Their quality has taken a huge nose dive for double the price. Good riddance. read more

My husband and I were visiting from CA and staying in Greenfield when we came across Yelp reviews for Zapp Thai Restaurant and decided to try it out. We're so glad we did! There service was amazing and the food was delicious! We got crab rangoon, spring rolls and hawaiian fried rice (extra hot). I don't even know where to start, I came over a week ago with my boyfriend to enjoy an amazing lunch of Massaman curry and pad kee mao I had been running some errands beforehand that day and realized a few days later that I couldn't find my purse. In my mind the last place I 100% knew I had it was the post office but when I went it wasn't there. I felt defeated because I knew my wallet with my cards and ID were not in the purse so no one would know who to contact to return it to me. Fast forward to today my boyfriend tells me he got a call from zapp Thai they found a receipt in my bag with his name on it and when I went to retrieve it everything was in there that I originally had. There was cash, some of my favorite lip products and my most favorite eyelash curler and a pair of Madewell sunglasses. It meant so much to me that they would take time out of their day to get the bag to it's owner it makes me emotional just thinking about it. I can't wait to go back and I hope they know that this has made me a customer for life. read more

We live in New Pal and always drive to the north side to eat at another place - but we are so happy we found thai closer to us! This place never disappoints. Their Tom Yum soup is great - their potstickers and crab Rangoon are both fantastic. We always get the chicken pad thai and its enough to feed us both (my wife and myself). This restaurant has been in Greenfield for 2 years and no one my family knew about it. My parents don't venture outside their normal eating establishments too much, so when visiting them recently, I used Yelp to help me find a new place for us all to try. Zapp is on S.R. 9 near the interstate, right next to Starbucks. The interior is modernly decorated with chic ambiance. We went around Christmas time and they had seasonal decorations, even with a little christmas tree on every table. There were two employees in the dining room and they both served us as they were not busy. Going on a weekend, they did not have their $7.99 lunch menu available. Having never been there before and my parents not used to "foreign" cuisine, we asked a lot questions, and this seemed to irritate the female waitress. This is my only complaint, as they were quick with the drink refills, plate clearing and check. The food was delicious. I got pad see ew and my parents got pad woon sen and the tiger garlic . We tried each others and everyone seemed to like their dish the best. It was reasonably priced and I left with leftovers and headed next door to Starbucks for a drink to warm me up on the cold day. I told my husband to stop to get some coffee for me and we realized Zapp was right next door..... so it was meant to be! If you are sensitive to spice, Medium might be too much for you! It cleared mine and my husband's sinus'! For Appetizer, we got Calamari which is pictured. It was good but I would probably choose a different appetizer next time. I chose the Vegetables with chicken and white rice. It was really yummy! Spicy, but yummy! My husband had the Tom Yum which was also yummy. (He's on Keto so his options were limited!) Zapp has been around for a few years, and is always one of my favorite Thai restaurants to go and frequent. First off the environment is always warm and welcoming, along with the staff is always friendly. This trip I went with the the Thai Fried rice with pork. This by far is one of my favorite dishes. The Pad Thai is also always on point. If I can give a piece of advice, I prefer going for lunch during the week. I can rarely ever eat more then 50% of my food ordered.
