I was initially going to get 4 cupcakes: 1 lemon, 2 strawberry, and 1 red velvet. However, after looking at her menu online and talking to her, I ended up getting a dozen cupcakes: 4 banana peanut butter cupcakes with honey drizzle, 3 Chocolate cupcake with Oreo frosting topped with an Oreo cookie, 1 chocolate cupcake with a peanut butter frosting, 2 Strawberry cupcake with buttercream frosting and strawberry drizzle, 1 red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting, and 1 white cupcake with lemon buttercream and lemon sauce drizzle. The cupcakes were super moist and they paired well with the frostings. The frostings were not overly sweet, which I really appreciated, and I could definitely taste the flavoring of the frosting. The peanut butter was my favorite and it paired well with the chocolate cupcake. I'll definitely be back to try some of the other flavors, or will request a specialty cupcake in the near future.

Her featured flavors are: -Dark chocolate -Crunchy chocolate with cacao nibs -Coconut (white chocolate) -Passion fruit or lilikoi (white chocolate) -Kauai coffee -Almond All of the flavors are intense but balanced by the premium chocolate and condensed milk used in making them. I suppose one could compare them to ganache that is used in making chocolate truffles. These brigadeiros are creamy and fudge-like though it melts smoothly as you might pop them in your mouth. But the decoration on this one was so nice my son did not want to cut into it. Hitomi (Owner and Baker) informs me she has other flavors indicating the local folk in Honolulu like her Mango and Passion Fruit flavors. I will try one of those flavors next time I have an occasion to purchase a special cake. As a side bar I learn Hitomi has a store located in the Marco Polo where other baked items are available for purchase. The store has restricted hours so I've yet to get a schedule to stop in however, it is on my hit list for next time I need special gifts. Her store is located in the Marco Polo condominium on Kapiolani Blvd. A definite must try if you haven't already. The cake runs about $50. But a infamous local pies run about $40.
