Recently I heard this establishment maybe closing and now I know why. I've ordered from Zaros in the past and food was excellent. Tonights order.... Not so much. 6:15 pm, I ordered a small Greek salad with gyro meat and the meat had a resemblance of a shiny leather belt. It was dry, oily and crusty. Where is the moist flavorful meat I once had? I'm terribly disappointed since gyros are my favorite greek food. To the person that put this order together, would you honestly eat this? If the answer is no, then why serve it to your customers. Really affordable! Gyro on pita for $10 carry away. Love how generous they were with the side of tzatziki and the meat was tender and well seasoned. The lettuce, tomato, onion was also plentiful. Lots fell out of the pita but I asked for a fork on the side and that did the trick. Will definitely stop in to sample more from the menu. I was in the Huntington Station area and I couldn't help but stop by one of my old favorites growing up. Zaro's Cafe is still going strong after 30 plus years. I had to get a gyro which is one of the best on Long Island! The family was still there with smiles and delivering great service. I got home took a bite that gyro was still amazing as it was from the beginning. This place is really a hidden gem that deserves a spotlight. They have a nice dining room to dine in and highly recommend stopping in and staying in. I wish I was a close as I was when I grew up to this place. The food and service is great! read more

Zaro's, please taste your falafel and your onion sauce. I think a box of salt fell into the mixtures. One box fell into the falafel mix and one fell into the onion sauce. It was not edible. I'm picturing Gordon Ramsey screaming, "taste this!" And having a heart attack at the sheer level of salt in these 2 things. This place rocks!!! Edmond offered me to come in for lunch and rate the food, so I do just that. My chicken gyro was superb. The meat was sliced to perfection, the lettuce, tomatoes, and tomatoes, and onions were fresh and the white sauce was made perfectly. This gyro is top tier in Huntington for sure. Ben the chef is out of this world, he makes everything on the spot and it's delicious. Sara was amazing, she was smiling the entire time and also gave me some chicken souvlaki to try and that too was outstanding!!! I was very impressed. Service was top notch. Zaro's has been open for nearly 30 years and now I know why! Their food is the real deal! The flavors are authentic and everything is homemade and very fresh! The staff treats you like family as soon as you walk in. They just reopened their dining room on Friday and Saturdays night and launched some great new menu items. Seriously amazing Greek food and super friendly people. We were leaving the Walt Whitman mall and craving Greek food. This place was the closest and did not disappoint. We walked in and were greeted so warmly by Corinne, the owner that you would have thought she knew us for years. The restaurant is clean and well-staffed. They were cooking/preparing to celebrate their 30 year anniversary (which is today) but still very helpful and attentive toward those of us dining in house last night. We ordered at the counter and sat down. They brought over napkins and silverware and served our chicken souvlaki platter (very flavorful and juicy chicken served over rice pilaf with peppers and mushroom- AH-MAZING!!!), came with a small Greek salad(loved their dressing and that it came with hot peppers and a grape leaf since many restaurants skimp on those necessities), also served with their delicious tzatziki sauce and warm pita bread (seriously so good!!!), spanakopita (easily one of the best I've ever had and I am Greek/been to Greece many times), chicken Caesar salad (dressing was also very good and chicken was cooked perfectly). The entrees were mouthwatering. And the dessert -- nothing bad can be said about fresh cheesecake and chocolate cake! The staff went above and beyond and were attentive to all our needs. We were not rushed. The dishes were not served one on top of another, as in some restaurants. It was a very relaxed and wonderful evening. Ordered a large salad with gyro. I was given only 1/2 a pita with a large salad, which is extremely skimpy. There were only 3 cucumbers and 3 grape tomatoes cut I half. The amount of gyro meat was also minimal for a large salad. I called inquiring about the half a pita, thinking it was an accident, and they told me that because it's a thicker pita, they only have half for any salad. So cheap!! Had to add our own cucumber and tomato to make it a decent salad. Will not be returning! read more

What an awesome find for us!!! They've been here for 22 yrs and after enjoying our huge meal we understood why. Owner and staff are super friendly and make you feel at home. Portions are huge, fresh and really good. We'll definitely be back! Loved it much more than the Greek spots in town (Huntington village), sorry guys!!! The restaurant is cozy and has your usual Greek feel with the painted murals on the wall. So don't be fooled by the big Pizza signage outside. They do Greek and Italian, and as we were craving Greek, we stuck to that part of the menu. Warm bread is brought out after you're seated, some iced lemon water and then be ready to loosen your belt! *Gyro platter ($14.50): Greek salad to start (fresh, vinegary, lots of feta and a good starter). Then comes a large platter of rice with tiny noodles mixed in (awesome rice! This stuff was amazing. I usually avoid rice when out but this was GOOD) and it's topped with tons of freshly carved (shaved?!) gyro meat. So good. Great seasoning and you can tell they just trimmed it. Fluffy pita and yogurt dip with garlic galore on the side. *Chicken gyro platter ($15.50): same as above but topped with tons of chicken gyro. *Zaro's combo platter ($17.50): choice of 3 and all the starters/sides above. Hubby went with chicken souvlaki, pork souvlaki and shrimp (marinated fresh shrimp). All grilled perfectly, juicy and fresh. So much food he didn't finish. Actually we all took home leftovers!! The food is delicious. Truly always a treat. Their Greek chicken salad is a staple for my lunches.
