This afternoon we returned to our number one favorite restaurant on Long Island for lunch--Symi. We have been coming here regularly since the restaurant first opened, and the quality has remained consistently excellent. As soon as we walked in, Francisco, the bartender, warmly greeted us and seated us immediately. Symi has a beautiful and elegant interior. It is a high-end restaurant, yet it remains very reasonably priced. We enjoyed the three-course prix fixe "Taste of Symi" lunch, which is one of the best-kept secrets on Long Island because it offers excellent value. I had the Mediterranean octopus followed by lavraki, while my husband ordered the horiatiki salad and Norwegian salmon cooked medium. We each finished with a scoop of chocolate gelato. They also began the meal with a complimentary bread basket and two delicious dips. The portions are very generous, both for the appetizers and entrées. My whole fish was deboned and butterflied open--moist and perfectly prepared. The octopus was tender and incredibly flavorful--honestly the best grilled octopus I've had anywhere. My husband equally enjoyed his meal. His salad was served in a large bowl and was more than he could finish. I tasted some myself and can say it was absolutely delicious. Our waiter, George, made the experience even better. He is very knowledgeable, professional, and attentive, and has a wonderful way of putting guests at ease. We have seen him consistently since the restaurant opened. He is always present and truly a great asset to this beautiful restaurant. One of the only Greek spots offering a Kyma Thursday night feel in Suffolk county, since Noema closed down. I must say I been here a few times & this is my final time on Valentine's Eve! Everything took forever the service was slow & the drinks were not good. The restaurant itself is beautiful welcoming decor & lighting. But damn what a let down!We specifically ask for Don Julio Blanco & yet they serve us Casamigos & the cocktail tasted terrible. It took us about 15min to get the complimentary bread. We tried to order the Seafood Tower, but they were out of the Shrimp. Then we tried to order the Feta Cheese & they were out of that too. From being to end it was a bad experience. The food took so long we ended taking most of it to go, including the desert. FYI: They add a 20% service charge on the bill & an additional 3% if you use a credit card! Even w/ the slow & bad service we still had a $100 tip. This is something recent I threw my birthday in the end of 2024 & the fees were not automatically added to the bill! read more

Symi was...interesting. It's a restaurant with a modern Greek menu, but also a DJ booth and blaring music from around 8pm on. The menu prices scream "high-end restaurant," but the dance floor and loud music give off nightclub vibes. Quite an identity crisis. The space is newly renovated, and I think they did a nice job with it overall, even if parts are converted into an ad hoc dance floor at certain hours. The food was okay. My scallops were seared nicely but the dish was incredibly salty. I felt my kidneys working overtime after just a few bites. Other dishes were okay, but with most entrees veering into the $40+ range, I expected quality. I'd consider coming back for a nice lunch, but writing this as my ears are still ringing tells me that I'm not the target clientele for late dinners! read more

Came here for the Easter lamb dinner. The portion was decent and served just with lemon potatoes only. The lamb was flavorful but just a bit steep in price. Service was ok. Never asked if we wanted additional drinks. I tried the Symitini - Ketel One, St. Germain, lychee juice, butterfly tea syrup, lemon juice. The cocktail was nice but not worth $18. Also , the restaurant was open areas, seated by the waiter station area which seemed odd. Inside very nice but just didn't feel too welcome. read more

Food was amazing! I had the bronzino and it was cooked to perfection! My husband had pork chops so yummy and juicy! Calamari wonderfully made. The only bad thing to say is my potatoes didn't come out with my fish our waiter who was George who may be the owner was not present. The Spanakopita is a classic that they are doing right - can't go wrong! The stars of the show were definitely the Lobster Pasta (serving options for 1 or 2) using their house made linguini and Main Lobster; and their Grilled Lamb Chops that were juicy and filled with amazing flavors! We ended the experience with their Saragli (rolled baklava with nuts) - a must, and their Key Lime Pie that we shockingly really enjoyed - we aren't typically the biggest fans, but theirs was amazing! When they first opened I loved this place. Drinks were on point and perfectly crafted, food was delicious and fresh. Recently we have went back many times as we live locally and I love seeing a business thrive. I have to say the decor is still beautiful inside and out. However the food in my opinion has went downhill. I always get the horiatiki salad which is always delicious as well as the lemon potatoes. read more

Symi has a really nice ambiance with a lively, modern vibe and the live music during our visit was a great touch that added to the atmosphere. The appetizers were the highlight of the night. The grilled octopus was perfectly cooked, the zucchini fries were crispy with tzatziki sauce and cheese fries, and the mussels were amazing definitely ask for extra bread for dipping in that broth That said, we waited almost 45 minutes for our food, which definitely took away from the overall experience. The cocktails I tried (the Paloma and a passion fruit mezcal) were just okay nothing special. For my main, I had the filet mignon. It was cooked medium like I asked , but the sides felt underwhelming and didn't match the quality of the entrée. We were with a big group, and the service was friendly but a bit slow likely due to how busy it was. I'd still recommend Symi for the appetizers, the vibe, and the live music, but I'd manage expectations when it comes to timing and drinks. read more

We like to come here when it's a little quieter. The appetizers are amazing and ridiculously fresh -- they clearly care about the ingredients here. We usually sit at the counter and the bartenders are always really nice to us and very attentive. Whomever designed the menu deserves a ton of Kudos. Not only is it more of an upscale menu -- one that has a lot of the same ingredients used in different creative ways to generate completely different flavors, that allows you to really lean into staple or seasonal ingredients -- but all the appetizers have flavors that REALLY mix well together. So instead of tasting all these disparate items the flavors combine and layer between the appetizers in ways that really makes it feel like someone thought through the **experience** of sharing and sampling them all together. The nuance and layering of the flavors in combination with the freshness of the ingredients and the quality of the choices has made this a place we've truly enjoyed going over the last 6 months. read more

Went to try Symi the new Greek restaurant in Northport. I know you're thinking another Greek restaurant, but Symi is not your typical Greek restaurant, with your gyros, souvlaki etc.. You walk in to a bright open floor plan and the bar is right there which invites you to try one of their signature cocktails.Symi takes Greek food to another level they start you off with spicy olive oil with olives and pita in a small bowl then jump into an appetizer I had the Shrimp Saganaki it was so good I told them you should expand the portion and make it an entree. The Prasini salad was so good. Main Course was the Psari Plaki and the NY Strip prepared presented well but lacked a little flavor. Absolutely delicious! We came to Symi to meet Irena, the owner, to plan our holiday party and ended up having an incredible dinner. The ambiance is warm, inviting, and beautifully done. This is the perfect place for a relaxing night out or having a special event in their private room. We started with Symi chips, grilled octopus, and beet salad. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Irena had them bring out a stuffed pepper that brought back memories of my grandmother's kitchen, comforting, nostalgic, and full of love. The service is warm and attentive. The food, explodes with flavor in every bite. They offer a 3-course Taste of Symi for just $37, which is a fantastic deal and you get so much. Slowest serving time. And food was mediocre. Nothing special to the menu and no WOW when it came to taste/presentation. Best thing we had were the zucchini chips and we had to order 3 of them because food took over 1.5 hours for our entrees to come out. In addition, it got really loud the later it got. It said a DJ started at 9. Our dinner reservation was at 6:30. We hoped we would out of there way before the DJ music started but because dinner took forever we were there when the DJ crowd arrived. If people are there for dinner they should be served in a timely matter so they will be able to leave before restaurant turns into a club scene. read more

Spectacular doesn't even begin to describe the surprise birthday party we celebrated here! We've been loyal customers since the opening, but this night was next-level. The Greek food was phenomenal (guests are still talking about it), drinks were flowing, and the atmosphere was pure magic. Symi is a modest, restaurant that has delicious food but it's way too overpriced. For ex. $75 for Rib Eye. There is also a 20% Service Fee in addition to the tip. The decor is nothing special. They could have have done something better. Looks like an old diner that was converted into a restaurant. You can have the same if not better food elsewhere. We've dined in at Symi once and ordered takeout a few times. The food is typically delicious, especially the Swordfish, Prasini Salad and the Spanikopita. Our only disappointment is this most recent time we ordered for takeout the portion size shrunk by half. For $19 the Prasini Salad should easily serve two people as a starter. Delicious, but fix the portion sizes please. read more

We went on a weeknight and it wasn't busy, but the waiter had a pompous attitude and was just hanging out instead of attending to us. Then they got my order wrong. The host was very welcoming and accommodating. I arrived very late to a reservation and was still immediately accommodated right away on a busy Saturday night! On a Thursday night, it was lively with music and a crowd that was out to impress. For appetizers, we had the sesame crusted feta and the tuna tartare. The feta came with figs, cherries and nuts. I absolutely love the food at Symi!! The saganaki and the branzino are my favorites. They also have the best cheesecake ever! (I don't even love cheesecake, but the chef makes it himself and I don't know how he does it, but I have to get it every time I am there!!). The lamb dinner was beautifully prepared and came with a variety of side options, including lemon potatoes, cauliflower purée, asparagus, and French fries ect. The service was excellent--staff were incredibly attentive, and the drinks were delicious. A special shoutout to Vasili, who was so kind and welcoming. Not only is the food consistently delicious as the ambiance beautiful but the staff tonight went out of their way to accommodate our party of 4 adults + infant in a car seat. When most restaurants would be annoyed at having to accommodate a car seat they actually gave us one of their larger tables to accommodate our baby. I can't express how relieved this made us and how welcomed that made us feel. As a new mom already having anxiety taking your baby out to a restaurant- they truly made us feel so comfortable and made the experience that much better. Our first time here at SYMI. Beautiful space with a beautiful bar. The food here was delicious. I ate the Bronzino and my husband ate the Fagri. All was delicious our bartender Michele made excellent drinks. The only thing that I have to say is that she seems a bit overwhelmed. She was a bit sharp with her responses. We regularly eat at Limani and Kyma as well as the Northport Hotel where we are used to very friendly bartenders. She's a very good bartender, but it would be great if she would soften up just a bit. It looked like she needed a second hand even though she said she did not. There were approximately eight couples at the bar and the restaurant was filling up and she was the only one making drinks. So even though sometimes you may not think you need help, you do just to ease the stress. The chef was a little inflexible upon adding grilled shrimp to the regular Saganaki as it was already prepared for the shrimp cocktail. At that time it was early maybe around 6:30 so the restaurant was not that busy yet. And it was only a Wednesday evening. So we thought maybe there would be a little flexibility in the kitchen. After we ordered appetizers and lunch it took two and a half hours for them to tell us that the kitchen was backed up and we wouldn't get our food.
