Hubby and I hosted a party of 19 family members here this afternoon, and it turned out to be such a wonderful and memorable experience. We have been coming here regularly for quite some time and really enjoying our favorite Greek dishes, so I thought, why not bring the whole family together and let everyone enjoy it with us? We also completely trust George L., whom we have known since he previously worked at another restaurant several years ago and since Symi opened, which made Symi the perfect choice for our gathering. From the moment we arrived, the entire staff was welcoming, and professional. George was phenomenal, as he has always been--warm, very easy to talk to, knowledgeable, and consistently attentive. From the very beginning of our planning several months ago, George was incredibly helpful. He provided thoughtful recommendations and detailed information that made selecting our menu easy. He also helped us choose a drink package and having the menus printed for our guests, which was such a nice personal touch. We selected four appetizers to be served family-style, followed by individually chosen entrées, and finished with desserts served family-style. We also added a few items à la carte, including grilled octopus and lava cakes for dessert. Everything was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. The entire group agreed that the food was fresh, flavorful, and exceptionally well prepared. The portions were generous as well. Honestly, I was already quite full after the appetizers! The drinks were equally enjoyable, and everyone agreed that they were delicious and paired wonderfully with the meal. We even had some leftover food and desserts to take home, which was the perfect finishing touch. All in all, it was a truly successful family gathering, and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. Symi never disappoints! Guys, you need to come here. Like, immediately. I was fortunate enough to win an Instagram contest for a dinner for 2 here a few months ago and decided to make the trip to celebrate the end of summer with my husband since we both go back to work this month. So I reached out and connect with Marco, one of the owners, and he was so kind while booking our reservation and I got the pleasure of meeting him in person when we arrived. The 3 course menu had a lot of options, and I recommend coming here for it. The quality, variety, freshness, and portions were very impressive. They brought perfectly grilled bread with spiced olive oil and a big portion of olive paste to start. We split the spanikopita and beets with skordalia for our first course. I loved both but the beets were so great and the skordalia was even better. If you like garlic, that's the dish to get. For dinner my husband had the lavraki which was so perfectly cooked, fresh, and delicious. He also loved the lemon potatoes that accompanied it. I had the seafood linguine with the squid ink pasta and I have no words. It was perfection. The pasta and each piece of seafood was cooked perfectly and the sauce was light and fresh. I loved every bite. For dessert my husband had the Greek yogurt with honey and sour cherries and he loved it. I opted for the galaktoboureko but took it to go as I was stuffed. It had a very nice texture and strong orange flavor! The service was impeccable. Everyone came over to check on us, and our waiter was great. I also loved how beautiful and light the dining room was. When you just got back from an amazing dinner you must YELP about it.Dinner at SYMI Northport TAVERNA was AMAZING! We had raw clams,octopus salad & the scene stealer SYMI CHIPS!! Thinly sliced eggplant & zucchini in a light flour dusting fried to perfection with a yummy tzatziki sauce. The entrees were in a class by themselves.The sea bass was whole & deboned in a bath of lemon juice & capers. The most fresh fish. 2 diners chose lamb chops with melt in your mouth lemon potatoes. I had an app Shrimp Saganaki as my main. The place was bustling & the hues of blue & white added to the ambiance.Our waitress was the wonderful Athena..who served & explained all with a smile. One of the only Greek spots offering a Kyma Thursday night feel in Suffolk county, since Noema closed down. I must say I been here a few times & this is my final time on Valentine's Eve! Everything took forever the service was slow & the drinks were not good. The restaurant itself is beautiful welcoming decor & lighting. But damn what a let down!We specifically ask for Don Julio Blanco & yet they serve us Casamigos & the cocktail tasted terrible. It took us about 15min to get the complimentary bread. We tried to order the Seafood Tower, but they were out of the Shrimp. Then we tried to order the Feta Cheese & they were out of that too. From being to end it was a bad experience. The food took so long we ended taking most of it to go, including the desert. FYI: They add a 20% service charge on the bill & an additional 3% if you use a credit card! Symi was...interesting. It's a restaurant with a modern Greek menu, but also a DJ booth and blaring music from around 8pm on. The menu prices scream "high-end restaurant," but the dance floor and loud music give off nightclub vibes. Quite an identity crisis. The space is newly renovated, and I think they did a nice job with it overall, even if parts are converted into an ad hoc dance floor at certain hours. The food was okay. My scallops were seared nicely but the dish was incredibly salty. I felt my kidneys working overtime after just a few bites. Other dishes were okay, but with most entrees veering into the $40+ range, I expected quality. I'd consider coming back for a nice lunch, but writing this as my ears are still ringing tells me that I'm not the target clientele for late dinners! read more

Came here for the Easter lamb dinner. The portion was decent and served just with lemon potatoes only. The lamb was flavorful but just a bit steep in price. Service was ok. Never asked if we wanted additional drinks. I tried the Symitini - Ketel One, St. Germain, lychee juice, butterfly tea syrup, lemon juice. The cocktail was nice but not worth $18. Food was amazing! I had the bronzino and it was cooked to perfection! My husband had pork chops so yummy and juicy! Calamari wonderfully made. The only bad thing to say is my potatoes didn't come out with my fish our waiter who was George who may be the owner was not present. He didn't ask us if we wanted a cocktail had to look for him to order one! Another table with 6 ppl came in after us and was asked if this is their first time was offered drink menu and told about the specials of the day! Were we you ask? NOPE!! When they first opened I loved this place. Drinks were on point and perfectly crafted, food was delicious and fresh. Recently we have went back many times as we live locally and I love seeing a business thrive. I have to say the decor is still beautiful inside and out. The grilled octopus was perfectly cooked, the zucchini fries were crispy with tzatziki sauce and cheese fries, and the mussels were amazing definitely ask for extra bread for dipping in that broth That said, we waited almost 45 minutes for our food, which definitely took away from the overall experience. The cocktails I tried (the Paloma and a passion fruit mezcal) were just okay nothing special. For my main, I had the filet mignon. It was cooked medium like I asked , but the sides felt underwhelming and didn't match the quality of the entrée. We were with a big group, and the service was friendly but a bit slow likely due to how busy it was. I'd still recommend Symi for the appetizers, the vibe, and the live music, but I'd manage expectations when it comes to timing and drinks. read more

Went to try Symi the new Greek restaurant in Northport. I know you're thinking another Greek restaurant, but Symi is not your typical Greek restaurant, with your gyros, souvlaki etc.. You walk in to a bright open floor plan and the bar is right there which invites you to try one of their signature cocktails.Symi takes Greek food to another level they start you off with spicy olive oil with olives and pita in a small bowl then jump into an appetizer I had the Shrimp Saganaki it was so good I told them you should expand the portion and make it an entree. The Prasini salad was so good. Main Course was the Psari Plaki and the NY Strip prepared presented well but lacked a little flavor. We like to come here when it's a little quieter. The appetizers are amazing and ridiculously fresh -- they clearly care about the ingredients here. We usually sit at the counter and the bartenders are always really nice to us and very attentive. Whomever designed the menu deserves a ton of Kudos. Not only is it more of an upscale menu -- one that has a lot of the same ingredients used in different creative ways to generate completely different flavors, that allows you to really lean into staple or seasonal ingredients -- but all the appetizers have flavors that REALLY mix well together. So instead of tasting all these disparate items the flavors combine and layer between the appetizers in ways that really makes it feel like someone thought through the **experience** of sharing and sampling them all together. The nuance and layering of the flavors in combination with the freshness of the ingredients and the quality of the choices has made this a place we've truly enjoyed going over the last 6 months. read more

Slowest serving time. And food was mediocre. Nothing special to the menu and no WOW when it came to taste/presentation. Best thing we had were the zucchini chips and we had to order 3 of them because food took over 1.5 hours for our entrees to come out. In addition, it got really loud the later it got. It said a DJ started at 9. Our dinner reservation was at 6:30. We hoped we would out of there way before the DJ music started but because dinner took forever we were there when the DJ crowd arrived. We've dined in at Symi once and ordered takeout a few times. The food is typically delicious, especially the Swordfish, Prasini Salad and the Spanikopita. Our only disappointment is this most recent time we ordered for takeout the portion size shrunk by half. For $19 the Prasini Salad should easily serve two people as a starter. The host was very welcoming and accommodating. I arrived very late to a reservation and was still immediately accommodated right away on a busy Saturday night! The lamb dinner was beautifully prepared and came with a variety of side options, including lemon potatoes, cauliflower purée, asparagus, and French fries ect. The service was excellent--staff were incredibly attentive, and the drinks were delicious. A special shoutout to Vasili, who was so kind and welcoming.
