Why can't Zaxby's come to Illinois? They would be great competition for Chick-fil-A, Wing Stop, and Raising Cane's. Offerings are similar to these favorites, with traditional or boneless wings, tenders, several sauces, sandwiches, salads, as well as uncommom sides like fried pickles and some of my favorite cheese curds. We were looking for a lower carb fast meal tonight and checked out the "Zalads" at Zaxby's. Hubby ordered the grilled chicken Cobb salad and I had the grilled chicken Caesar salad. We both drank water. The restaurant wasn't crowded when we arrived and our salads were ready promptly. The chicken in my salad wasn't completely cut, and it wasn't easy to cut it with only the plastic fork provided, but I managed. (I suppose I could have asked for a knife, but like I said, I managed!) The "croutons" on the Caesar salad are tasty but not crunchy, like croutons usually are. The salads are fresh, large, tasty and filling. Every single time I've eaten at this restaurant they screw something up. I eat here several times a week and I'm now done with this place. The last four times I've been in this place I've ordered the same meal the same way and have had 4 different results. They have a "go big" or whatever it's called that's .80$to upgrade to a 42 ounce drink and large fries or "extra" fries. Once the girl charged me for an extra drink. They refunded it. Next time charged me for a regular fry. They refunded it. The next time she just didn't ring it up the upgrade. Each time I had to get a manager. One of the times a guy in the back making the orders told the manager "go to the counter the guy up there doesn't know what he's talking about." There's a sign on the board that's says "upgrade for .80$." Today she ust rang me up for .50$ to upgrade to a 42 oz drink and didn't ring up the extra fries, so no extra fries for me. I asked for unsweetened tea. They didn't have the tea urns out in the dining area so I asked the cashier for the unsweetened tea. She brought me sweet tea 2 times and when a different girl walked up she asked if I wanted sweet tea. I also payed for 2 extra zax sauces. When they gave me my bag I walked to my table and sat down. Looked in the bag and no zax sauces. Last week I went through the drive through and ordered a grilled chicken cobb. Got home and guess what? No chicken on my salad. Plus every time I've ordered a salad something is missing. I even said one time to the manager as they were refunding something on my order that they should have the employee that screwed it up there to show them how to do it properly and they just shrugged me off. Their food is good but seriously EVERY TIME I EAT HERE SOMETHING IS SCREWED Up. It's almost like they do it on purpose. Im a bartender in a restaurant so i normally give some leave way. Must try heir new Zensation Fillet Sandwich & Fries Meal!! This new tasty sandwich comes with coleslaw on it and it is delicious! Zaxbys has been advertising it and I am Glad I finally tried it. The chicken is a good portion size and very crispy which I like! I will definitely get this meal again! We went through the drive-thru, I am unsure if they are open for dining in due to the Covid but there is plenty of parking. The food is good, but not great. If you go for lunch, expect to wait. With that wait, you will probably get hot food. If you go for dinner, expect the wait to be shorter and the food to be relatively close to room temperature. Service is friendly, but slow. Quick lunch trip across town for one of the best salads around. Of course it wasn't too quick, they were a little slow on service today as it took about 20 minutes to get through the drive-thru. Should've built a Popeye's. This place has gone downhill fast. Told the cashier my order was dine-in...she calls my number & its bagged up as a to-go order. Maybe if she hadn't been flipping her middle finger at her co-workers she would've remembered what I said. My ticket even said dine-in at the top. Two days before that I get a Zensation salad. We were dining in, so we walk to the front counter, and had to wait a couple of minutes before we were even greeted. There were 8-10 employees working and only 2 other people in the restaurant so I'm not sure what had everyone tied up. The young lady that finally came to take our order wasn't friendly at all. We ordered 2 4 pc chicken fingers platters, and a TLC chicken sandwich meal. The order came up pretty quickly, but the bread was terrible and the fries were cold. I grab lunch at this Zaxby's location because it's near the office where I work on Mondays and there are limited other options. I'm a creature of habit so I always get the same thing- a boneless wing meal with sweet and spicy sauce and a cherry coke zero. Some days it is great. Other days the wings have very little sauce and aren't all that great. Some days the drive through staff are sort of friendly and give you the things you need to avoid looking like a caveman (fork, napkins,etc.)and other days not so much.
