I stopped at Zaxby's for my first time in Port Wentworth, Georgia on Thursday, October 19th, 2023. I ordered four chicken tenders, fries, and toast. It is very similar to Raising Cane's. Even the Zax sauce was quite similar to the zesty Cane's sauce. The food was quite good. But, the rating is lower due to the service and dining room being pretty mediocre. The staff here were very friendly. Our food was served hot and was good. I had the kickin' chicken sandwich plate the sauce was running over the side of the box, and it was messy. But it was good. On our road trip we planned to hit this exit and gas up and get some food. After striking out for 15 mins at other local chains, We walked in at 9:55 on a Sunday night and were greeted nicely, our orders were taken, made fresh and we were on our way. The entire team was awesome and Keith made sure everyone was fed. In 2024, the service industry has become so bad around the country but it's great that places like Zaxbys that are there till they are actually closed. Top 5 zaxbys location I've ever been to (and trust me I've had a lot of zaxbys in my life)! To start we went around Christmas time and the decorations and music really helped the mood. It was lunch time on a Saturday and the place wasn't too busy, the service was kind and EXTREMELY fast: like the food was out (all of the food for a family of four) in less than one minute. Very impressive. Fries could've been a little fresher but that's alright when they're seasoned well. Finally the dining room and restrooms were very clean. This is located just off a busy interstate, so at times the drive thru gets a long line. They are usually pretty good at keeping the line moving. As a matter of fact, the only time that it has taken a long time is when I have got behind someone in the drive thru that is ordering several meals, with instructions on what to add or not add to their meal...UGH!!! We came 10 minutes before they closed because Burger King apparently shut their grill down at 8pm... Even though we came that close to closing the staff their was still efficient and friendly. My husband and I went through the drive thru at 7:30pm and the line was wrapped around the building. It took a good 15-20 minutes just to get up to get our food. When I ordered the girl was incredibly hard to hear and understand. I got to the window, the only words the girl said to me were "Your total is $xx.xx" she then handed me my drinks, a bag of food, shut the window and turned her back. I had no idea if we were all set or what. When I got home (5 minutes away) I looked at my drink and it wasn't even filled to the top, I took the top off and it was filled with ice and about 3 sips of soda... the food was ok, but didn't make up for the complete lack of service and apparent lack of knowledge on how to fill a cup with a drink. My family loves Zaxby's but this location is horrible. The rudest staff. It was not busy, I drove right up and placed my order but waited 15 minutes on my food. As a Canadian, I see the Zaxby's commercials all the time and have been DYING to try it for YEARS!! Finally, the opportunity arose when we were en route to Florida. We both got a combo with wings and tenders and the wait wasn't short but it wasn't terrible either. So first thing, I don't get why there's toast on the plate. Why is there toast on the plate?? Am I supposed to make a sandwich with this bread? Confused. I was super disappointed that they didn't have better sauce options for the chicken. I don't like spicy, I like sweet, and they had nothing that wasn't sweet AND spicy. I ended up with the honey mustard but it was boring... very sad. The fries weren't anything special either. The whole thing was just meh for me. The chicken was good quality chicken but I'm a dipper and without good dipping sauces, this just isn't gonna work for me. They were absolutely packed on our drive back to Florida this past weekend and they managed to mess up the order numbers somewhere and gave us a completely wrong order and then were arguing about it when we took it back to try to get the correct order!
