We had the buffet and were pleasantly surprised by everything offered. Adding to the food the service we received was great. So much so that I ask the waitress Dee if she owned the restaurant believing nobody would be so attentive unless they did. She did not. Rain has a way of making you hungrier for the right kind of food. We walked into Georgia Comfort Kitchen off I-95 on one of those gray, damp Georgia afternoons, and from the first bowl of gumbo, the weather outside stopped mattering entirely. We ordered off the menu rather than the buffet -- though both were available and the buffet looked well-stocked and genuinely tempting. My husband had the Shrimp & Grits: Georgia shrimp over stone-ground grits with andouille sausage, peppers, onions, bacon, and a sherry cream sauce. Rumor had it that was the move, and the rumor was right. The grits alone were the kind you don't stop talking about -- velvety, deeply seasoned, the kind of base that makes everything sitting on top of it taste better than it already is. I went with the fried catfish, a side of mac and cheese, and a bowl of gumbo. Honest take: the catfish itself was good -- the fish was fresh and well-flavored -- but the batter had gone a little soggy, which kept it from landing where it could have. That's the kind of thing that varies by timing, not kitchen quality. The mac and cheese, though, was exactly what you want: cheesy without being gluey, hot all the way through, properly indulgent. And the gumbo -- chicken and sausage, rich and built with patience -- was the best thing on my side of the table. On a rainy afternoon in coastal Georgia, it was exactly right. Then there was the cornbread, served with peach cobbler butter. That detail alone tells you something about how this kitchen thinks. It's not an afterthought. It completed everything around it. I'm not from the South, and I won't pretend to have a lifetime of comparison points. But there's a kind of food that makes you feel like you were born into it anyway -- like your body already knew what it was tasting. That's what happened here. Good for road trippers, families, rainy days, and anyone who needs a real meal after a long stretch of highway. Four stars, with the grits alone pulling hard toward four and a half. read more

Friday Evening, March 13, 2026 - Flights cancelled today - rough day - stayed in hotel and ended up at Georgia Comfort kitchen - sat at the bar - met, " Taylor," bartender, and server, I ordered an old-fashioned, and my buddy ordered a margarita classic, both cocktails were delicious, for food we had meatloaf, green beans, cornbread, my buddy ordered a bowl of gumbo and cornbread, all food was very, very delicious! We stopped at Georgia Comfort Kitchen on a Saturday afternoon and loved everything about our experience. The buffet was $15 per adult (free for our toddlers, which was incredible!) - we enjoyed everything. The mashed potatoes and gravy were perfect, as was the fried fish and fried chicken, and we loved the gumbo over rice. They had an apple crisp on the buffet for a dessert option and it was delicious - though the dessert menu also had great options (banana pudding, peach cobbler, key lime). Our service could not have been better - we were greeted immediately and she was so kind and helpful. Great spot for a family too -- they had high chairs and a changing table in the restroom. The quality in treatment you get you'd think you're at superior fine dining. They really do care and check on you here, I must say. We've eaten here several times and we can not complain. The BBQ Tea Chicken is very tasty. The Green Beans are most definitely a Mean Green Bean Hunnay! Simply because these Green Beans are so green, they look like they eat clean and green, LOL. They are my favorite. Veggie Medley is awesome as well. The Mac-n- Cheese is wonderful as well the Fresh Salad Bar. Seafood is always a favorite. Jennifer, our server could not be nicer. So there is a full buffet, but we ordered a smash burger & fried chicken (w2sides) off the menu. Fast service, delicious & the brussel sprouts were worth the extra $1! Wanted a home cooked style dinner one of the nights we were in town. Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy was good. Green beans had a bit of onion in them, but needed some love. This area of Port Wentworth GA is situated right off of the Rt. 95 corridor and seems to serve the needs of road travelers and those in the area for a conference or the like. The Georgia Country Kitchen was the perfect stop for us for dinner. There is seating in a bar area or in the main dining room. The menu had plenty of things to choose from - we decided to go with the Buffet. $19.95 per person and certainly worth every penny. There was a salad bar with fresh greens and ample additional toppings. The hot buffet table was a terrific sampling of southern comfort food - perfect for a weary traveler who doesn't know they want for dinner. Be Sure to try a piece of their fried chicken - Oh, so good!! The friendly service and ambiance were both good & welcoming. Stopped here while driving from Tampa to Charlotte as a somewhat halfway point (did not want to venture into downtown Savannah). Absolutely lovely staff, very clean venue and amazing food options for the price. They have a daily lunch buffet and you can't beat the $15 price tag on that. Everything is kept tidy and organized. Salad bar is even a steal for $10 all you can enjoy. We really enjoyed the fried cheese bites (cheese curds) for $7 and they have an excellent beer selection. Prices on drinks will also make you happy. Highly recommend if you're looking for some food along I-95 close to Savannah. I'd happily stop here again. read more

I've visited GCK twice the first time I ordered off the menu and the second time I had the Wednesday evening buffett. We ordered the BBQ totchos (which they no longer have), Fried Green Tomatoes, Shrimp and Grits. O... How could I forget the Peach Cobbler Cornbread? It could be considered a dessert but don't tell! The second time it was for my friends birthday and they were more than accommodating the management and staff were excellent throughout the experience! We had a mixed party some ordered off of the menu and others had the buffet. No complaints with either choice! Just for a bit of background on me; I love taking photos. You catch me in public, chances are I'm getting on my friend's nerves because I refuse to get off my camera app. So, I'm not sure if it's because every time I come here, I'm just too hungry to remember to take any, or if the food is just that good, but I never come here and leave with any photos. The food is always very photogenic, but I always finish everything before even thinking about pulling out my camera. This place is a great spot if you're spending time with friends or family. It has "comfort" in the name, and it definitely holds. Although the wait times vary every time we come, the service is always consistently nice. We go here often, but this place is so good that it fees like It's not often enough. If I had the choice, we'd eat out every week.
