Food was awful, I've had zaxbys in Florida and Georgia and this was not the same. Food was cold and dry

I ordered almost $40 worth of food. On a steady but not so busy Sunday July 3rd. After waiting over 20 minutes of my food, I had to approach the counter. I was informed that they were going to make my food. This is a terribly ran restaurant. No one was concerned about my order. I paid the posted prices and just want my meals. The assistant manager was not helpful and had a slight attitude. As did the cashier. I've had the other location near the outlets. This SA location is off to a bad start. read more

Visited on July 4th Around 5pm. I heard zaxybs opened up in alamo ranch, mind you I live about 15-20 mins away from Alamo ranch but I did want to check out what the hype was about. First, the drive thru itself wasn't confusing but all the signs they had directing it was confusing, even the outside order taker mentioned when I asked about the drive thru that management changes it everyday. After finally getting in line, not too many cars maybe 5-7 pretty good if you ask me, waited about 5-10 mins to get our order taken. I got the three finger combo, asked myself to upsize to drink and fry, and had to ask for my order to be repeated. Pull around to the drive thru window and all I got was "NAME?"... no hello, hi, no repeating of the order. Had to ask for ketchup and napkins, got my meal and then had to ask for a straw. Food was decent. The strips were seasoned as well as the fries. I had a fry before I left the parking lot and it was hot and fresh like it just came out of the fryers, but my drive back home (15-20 mins) the fries got a little soggy due to the condensation inside the to go container. overall Food: 6/10 Service: 2/10 Speed: 6/10 Would I go out of my way to come here again? probably not Would rather go to canes off of Culebra, might try this place in a few months after all the "hype" settles down. read more

Waited in the drive thru line for 25 minutes just to have to tell my order again at the window. Was handed two drinks with the worker saying, "I think these are yours?" (as if I'm supposed to know otherwise) and order was missing napkins, dip sauces, and coleslaw. Fries were way over-seasoned, and the chicken was solely edible with nothing special about it. $19 for two incomplete orders and a lot of wasted time. I was happy to see Zaxby's come to Alamo Ranch as this was one of my favorite spots to grab a quick bite. The chicken strips and fries were seasoned well; however, as many alluded to, the fries were a little soggy. This could be from the carry-out container and no fault of theirs, but I will look for this next time. All things considered, I would definitely go back again and recommend this spot to friends. I almost decided not to go to this restaurant because of the low reviews, but I'm glad I went! I absolutely loved the decor in the dining area and how clean the restaurant was! The employees were all pleasant and showed enthusiasm as they greeting each customer that walked through the door. Kudos to the manager for looking at all the reviews and making adjustments! Meal I got was decent but not for the price and the cheese curd portions and fried pickles portions are laughable for the price like if I'm playing more than 4$ for a side you think you'd be able to share some of them nope I got literally 8 cheese curds for four dollars yes I paid 50 cents a curd I could have went to Culver's where they load you up when you get a large and they treat you with actually decent customer service. read more

They are so slow it takes forever for a two person order. We ordered at 7:12PM and it took until after 7:30 for our order which was fine in to be complete. We didn't order anything crazy either a number 1 and then my husband got some wings. We watched 4 people come in after we did order get there food and leave. I've missed Zaxbys so much! I first fell in love with this place when I lived in RVA. And when I saw this location was opening I was so excited. The food does taste a little different from what I remember, especially the Zaxbys sauce, but food is still good and I'll be back once the hype dies down! Ok, if there were negative stars...I would have selected that...seriously. THIS was the worst chicken, fries and cole slaw I have ever eaten, at any restaurant in San Antonio...PERIOD! Yesterday was a day that, no matter what I tried, I could NOT get the taste out of my mouth. After hearing that this location opened up...I thought, ok cool, let's give it a try. Worst mistake I ever made! The chicken...oh, the chicken! Let's see: Dry, no seasoning, crispy...lol, nope, could taste the old grease, and probably cooked a week ago and sitting under a heat lamp...waiting for that one customer...me! The fries...same as the chicken...probably fried in the same, old grease. And finally, the Cole slaw. Hmmm, had a very unique taste...oh that's it...creamy sour! Bottom line for me is I personally will NEVER eat at another Zaxby's...especially THIS one! I'm not sure what you are doing with your product, but it missed the mark by miles! Sorry...no pics, but I wouldn't write a review like this had I not experienced this for myself. Zaxby's, San Antonio diners are discerning, and there are a lot of foodie's in this town. This place is really good!! The chicken tenders are always fresh and the staff always very friendly. I think from the outside it looks like an actual sit down restaurant as opposed to a fast food chicken place. It's like a golden chic with a way cuter outfit and better food. The building and interior are cute and rustic looking. The lighting is warm and inviting! Huge fan. We go at least 2/3x a week!! read more

the food was good as always but the customer service was terrible! they only had two cars in the drive thru, I worked at zaxbys for two years and customer service is a big thing. I paid for an extra sauce and both females at the window were not only rude but slammed the window when I was looking in my bag to make sure I had my sauce. need to work on attitude. read more

Delicious food! The chicken was flavorful and moist. I love the salads, my hubby likes the wings, and the kids like the nibblers with lots of Zax sauce. The service was quick, and the interior is homey. We're so glad they are here in Alamo Ranch! read more

I worked a double shift today and I didn't get to eat. I made it to Zaxby's at 9:18 pm before they closed at 10 pm starving. They just opened the Alamo Ranch location and I figured I would give it a try. I made it out of the drive thru at 9:42 pm and headed home. Although I waited over 20 minutes I didn't mind. It's a new restaurant in our area, so the line is to be expected. When I arrived at home and opened my food, I realized that they forgot my Texas Toast and 1 of the 4 tenders was so small you would have thought it was from the kids menu. Most places would give you an extra tender out of courtesy but not here. I called and let them know about the toast just as an FYI for quality control and the manager said "Well there's nothing I can do about it unless you bring back your food. We close at 10 pm, so you will need to bring back your food tomorrow." I was speechless. That was enough for me to lose my appetite. Tomorrow I have another double shift scheduled and when I get off of work at night I am going to take them their food. As far as I am concerned they can keep it. Update: I walked in and asked to speak to the manager. I asked her if she was the one there last night. She said yes. I told her what happened and she said that she remembered. I told her that I didn't understand why you had to bring the food back. Most fast food restaurants apologize and the next time you come they fulfill the order properly and will add whatever item they forgot to make it up to you. She said that they have a lot of teenagers working there right now and they have had a lot of issues with quality. She said that they need the food to show it to them and show them what they did wrong. They also want to see the chicken to see how small it is and see it they need to purchase chicken from a different company. I asked, "So your customer can't eat the food because they have to bring it back to show you your mistake and lack of quality? That doesn't make any sense to me. What are they supposed to eat? Wouldn't a picture suffice?" She just kept repeating the same thing over again but didn't provide a solution. So I asked, "Can I at least get a refund since I couldn't eat it?" I handed her the food from last night. She said, "I was going to offer you a new one." I am not sure when she was planning on doing that because we talked for a while and she hadn't offered. She asked if I had the credit card I used last night and I got my exact refund. She was a young manager. Slightly older than the kids working there but still young. Someone with more experience would have apologized, offered another meal without being prompted, and thrown in at least a free cookie. read more

Decided to give this place a second chance from when I first had zaxbys 's back in Arkansas. It was not pack when I had arrived in drive thru. Drove up to the window and the cashier demanded "name" . I never gave them my name and then she slammed the door window like 5 times through out the whole time of waiting for my order . I didn't know what she was mad about . Anyways I got my order I ask for sweet tea it was unsweetened whatever I guess. I order spicy chicken sandwich and it wasn't even spicy AT ALL. What bothered me the most was that the chicken was OVERCOOKED. Literally my boneless wings overcooked , my chicken sandwich overcooked and the fried pickles were burnt. I didn't care for it in Arkansas but wanted to give the place a second chance. Another reason for overcooked food is there is a bunch of high schoolers there so better training should be provided more efficiently. Would not be going back. read more

I reviewed this place back in June a little after it opened, and I was not happy with the food quality at all. I called and got invited to come back to get my order remade. My wife and I couldn't shake the awful taste we had the first time we came here, and it took us a long while to try to go again. Took my receipt with managers name and explained the situation, they wouldn't take my order, and made me wait until I went to the window, 10 minutes pass by and they barely ask me what I want at the window. They ask me to move up and to wait for my order, 15 minutes later, and they send out a worker with my food, with a nice little comment from the manager, who was named Mara I believe. "Next time you don't get your order unless it's within two weeks." I told her to tell her manager that it wouldn't make sense to come back to a place that wasn't making their food properly at the time. Had a horrible experience followed by another horrible experience. I'll stick with Canes. read more

It was my first time going in to eat. My friend there is a manager and tells me good things about the chicken. Let me tell you, WORST fried chicken place I've gone to. And there are multiple reasons, but I'll tell y'all about my experience first. Line was super long, and slow. I understand their staff is 99% high schoolers. And that they're lazy workers, so my friend that works on the inside tell me. But it's still crazy how long I waited. When I got my food and arrived home, I noticed how freakishly small the chicken was. It was literally smaller than my finger, they had also forgot my toast. When I called to get it resolved I was just told that I HAVE to bring the food in if I want to get anything resolved. That being my only meal of the day, and now not even be able to eat it because of a mistake that wasn't my fault isn't fair. Mara, the manager is very disassociated with the customers because she was no help. She said that they have a lot of teenagers working there right now and they are messing up all the orders and they need the food to show it to them and show them what they did wrong. They also want to see the chicken to see how small it is and see it they need to purchase chicken from a different company. I said, "so your customer can't eat the food because they have to bring it back to show you your mistake and lack of quality? That doesn't make any sense to me. What are they supposed to eat? Overall, as of NOW, this place is a shit show of a mess, ran by high schoolers and managers not fit to be in that position (I'm talking about Mara, she doesn't care about customers more about 'company policy'). Mara was young. Older than the kids working there but still young. Someone with more experience would have apologized, offered another meal, and thrown in some extra stuff like cookies or whatever. She should not be manager. With everything that happened and the stories I've been told about what happens on the inside, I will not be returning anytime soon read more
