We enjoy Zaxby's and the variety of chicken they have. This particular restaurant is always clean and the parking lot is well maintained. It is awkward to get to or leave when driving north, but there are two separate traffic lights available nearby. We order mostly thru their app and then pick up inside the restaurant (they do not do drive thru pickup). The workers here are always polite and helpful. One of their best deals are their "Zalads." Always very fresh with good produce and generous chicken. One salad is equivalent to a very large meal for one or a more appropriately, 2 very nice size lunches. They do have the best meal salads out of any fast food or traditional sit-down restaurant. Cannot beat the price. Now, ordering through the app, you get coupons or deals not available in the store. For a while, they had a weekend-only Bogo-free wings deal in the app. We took advantage of that. The wings were very good and the price was awesome. My husband has tried their "Chicken Philly" (he loved it) and I've tried their spicy chicken sandwich (good). Nothing beats their chicken tenders though. Some of the best around and I prefer them over the sandwiches. Our special treat when we come here are the fried white cheddar bites. When they are hot, they are incredibly decadent. Man, I love ZAXBYS but today turned me off the brand heavily. I am a frugal guy and tomorrow is my birthday, so of course my family treats me to a dinner of my liking... I normally get wings from my favorite wing shop locally, but today felt the need to give ZAXBYS a shot. We ordered the family chicken tenders and I promise you these things were fried in old oil or something because they smelt burnt and tasted the same, burnt. 2:3 people could not tolerate these tenders. These tenders did not look the burnt part but I promise you they taste like they were fried with 5 lbs of something burnt. I wish I would have got some of my wings, at least they are consistent. The food at this location is sub-par each time I visit. They rarely are able to keep a steady flow through their drive-thru which results in longer wait times. The price for the quality of food is unreasonable and the additional cost for items that would typically be complimentary is excessive and often presented in a rude matter. Have completely rebuilt since the fire destroyed the building. Sometime last year, this store was hit with a sever fire but was committed to the Statesville area enough to completely tear down what was left and built anew. the new Zaxby's has been open now for about a month now and the interior is of the latest corporate design and everything is still clean and fresh. That said, I was never a fan of Zaxby's but decided to see if the new location was any better. Glad to say that it is but not by enough to get excited about. Never did care for the sauce on the chicken so stayed with a Black and Blue Salad today that was pretty good. You get a choice of having your chicken blackened or buffalo style and since I'm watching my weight, I chose the blackened. Nutritional data is prominently displayed for those of us counting calories. Service on the other hand is still very slow but let's hope that improves with additional training. Problem appears to be back on the line and not with the counter staff because they are turning it out as soon as it pushed out by the line staff in the back. We couldn't figure out if this place was a sit in restaurant or take out place. It turns out it was both. This place looked as though it was remodeled with dark wood at least it smelled new. For a chicken place it was really nice. We ordered their grilled chicken salad to go. For $8.00 it was a decent looking salad. They offered a lot of fried and grilled chicken sauced or not sauced options plus their standard fixings. There was really nothing that interested me because it was really late but their spicy fried mushrooms and fried white cheddar bites alone is very enticing I definitely would come back here for lunch. read more

This would be my 2nd Zaxby's experience and I must say I am a fan of what they are doing. Last time I ordered some type of sloppy sandwich that was over whelmed with sauce and I couldn't taste the chicken so I decided to go with the chicken finger plate to really test out this chicken this time around. I ordered the chicken finger plate that came with about 5 seasoned chicken fingers and served with colesaw and really yummy seasoned crinkle cut fries. My boyfriend ordered the boneless wings and things plate with fries as well. The chicken fingers were very good with a very light coating of breading which is a nice change from your average chicken joint that there's more breading than the chicken itself. I really enjoyed the sauce they served with it, I believe it was zaxbys sauce, added a nice little kick. They give you a few options of sauces to toss your boneless wings in and my boyfriend opted for the buffalo, but when he got them it was definitely a step or two up from buffalo sauce that shit was spicy. We also ordered the fried white cheddar bites again because they were so good last time and were great this time around as well. The service was a bit slow as many others have mentioned but nothing that was overly irritating. The staff was attentive and friendly and provided us with a great experience. Until last week, I had not been to Zaxby's since they've rebuilt from the fire. We were out late shopping so we needed something quick for dinner to take home. I ordered my son the Boneless 'Wings and Things' in Nuclear and I got a 'Buffalo n Blue' Salad. I really love these salads, Zalads as Zaxby's calls them! The boneless chicken pieces are always tender and the buffalo sauce pairs so nice with the hunks of blue cheese in the salad. I always get the Blue Cheese dressing, too. Mine was wonderful! My son's order was completely missing his Boneless Wings so he was a little upset. I called the restaurant immediately to let them know and the Manager was more than pleasant about it. She kept apologizing and promised to make it right whenever we are able to go back and pick up the replacement order of the boneless wings. I really appreciate her dedication to customer service and I could not ask for anything more! Scenario- Sunday at 5:40pm. Drive thru is wrapped around building so I decide to run in to grab quick Zalad to go. HUGE MISTAKE. As I walk in both trashcans are overflowing with flies hanging out, ranch dressing and trash all over floor. As I'm standing in line to order I notice very annoyed customers having to go up to counter to ask for simple items like napkins and ketchup (since this is before dinner rush this tells me the staff didn't bother to re stock these items after lunch rush or they wouldn't be COMPLETELY out at 5:45pm. I order after the ONE CASHIER takes my order. I then proceed to wait on my food for 18 min. Orders are coming out wrong in front of me and they eventually run out of fries. Saying it will be another 4.5 min before next batch is done. My kid did not get fries with her kids meals bc I was DONE WAITING. I thought after the re model service might be a little better but apparently I was DEAD WRONG. We will NOT BE BACK. This place is listed as temporarily closed, it is open, for what it is worth. We moved out of the South a few years ago, so Zaxby's is one of those treats we like to get when we are here. This is by far the worst Zax experience I've ever had. The place was filthy, the bathroom wasn't stocked, and the employees were more concerned with gossip than with remedying any issues. A request for drink kids and straws (which were not stocked out front) was met with a sigh and an eye roll. I realize that the lunch rush can deplete your supplies, but we were there at 2:30, more than enough time to restock and clean up. My first Zaxby's experience. I'm not really a fan of KFC, but I do love Chick-fil-A. I went with the large chicken tender platter. The chicken fingers had a nice seasoning on them, but were not piping hot and fresh like I imagined. The sauces really helped out the chicken - the Zaxby's sauce and the Super Hot sauce. The french fries were standard. I didn't really understand the 2 slices of Texas bread. The bread didn't have any flavor. I'd go back and try Zaxby's again, but I'd have to be in the mood for fried chicken. Chick-fil-A wins. read more
