I recently held a birthday celebration there for my Mom and Aunt it was a small group of 8. But the owners said they have hosted groups of at least 40. But by then the place would be practically filled. I was pleased that they were so flexible with their hours and they were able to play the birthday song for us off the internet by request. The most popular dish for my group was the spinach pies - delicious! And we really liked the free soup also. The atmosphere was friendly and the owners were very accommodating to requests. Because it's a family owned restaurant they cook meals as if they were serving it to their family and you can feel and taste that in the food. The place is spotless and inviting. I can't pronounce half of the meals there but everything that I get there is delicious!. I drop there almost everyday to get some homemade soup. You can't find these type of restaurants anymore. I'm a picky eater and if is not chicken or something that I've tried before I wont order, but every time I asked about what the ingredients or thought if I was going to like it, they assured me I was going to like it and not to worry and they were right every time!... The only regret I have is that this place is not closer to where I live, if it was closer for sure I would be there once a month if not more. Unbelievably fresh and delicious! We tried Zaytoon for the first time tonight and it just may be our new favorite restaurant in Clinton. We ordered takeout and it was ready exactly when I got there to pick it up. We ordered the appetizer sampler with 8 different sauces/apps (hummus, tzatziki, baba ghanooj, stuffed grape leaves, tabouli, falafel, bean salad, and olive salad). This all tasted fresh and the baba ghanooj was probably my favorite. We ordered chicken shawarma, the combo plate, and a falafel wrap. All three of us were very happy with our meals! The shawarma plates came with two sides (hummus and tabouli). They also put a bag of 6 pitas in our takeout bag, which were perfect for dipping in all of the sauces. The portions are large, so make sure you're hungry or just eat the leftovers for lunch the next day--that's my plan! Definitely give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

The weekend buffet is off the charts good! There were so many hot dishes and then a large array of vegetable salads and cold dips like hummus, baba ghanoush, beet dip,etc. There was also 2 kinds of rice, hot soup, pita bread and hot tea included. Everything was so tasty. This would be good for vegans and vegetarians as well since they would have so many things they could eat. Highly recommend this place! read more

We visited Clinton to see the dam (super-cool, especially for the kids!) and were really excited to end up eating at this place. Everything was good, but the standouts were the eggplant salad (incredible roasty eggplant flavor with delicious fresh veggies) and the kubba (I can't remember which one, but it had a bulgar crust... out of this world crispy crunch w/excellent meat flavor inside). The biryani, lentil soup, and meat pies were delicious as well. The kids all found things they liked which was a big plus. Fun variety of little crunchy deserts too, we tried 4 kinds which were all great. Price is VERY reasonable. Nice people serving & cooking as well. We will definitely be making the 25 minute drive back down 495 soon to sample more of the menu. We are so happy to have found this! read more

The atmosphere was simple, new, and really gave you a Middle Eastern feel (not to mention the Arabic music which is great!). I walked into the place expecting there to be someone to take my order but literally waited around for like 15min for someone to come out.. My only qualm with this place was the food. I ordered some ful medammas (an Egyptian fava bean dip) with great anticipation but was soon disappointed when put in front of me and tasted as it was made from bean from a can, warmed up, and put in a bowl... The food is scrumptious! The owners - a husband and wife host-and-cook team, are friendly and gracious. I cannot imagine a more delicious and comprehensive buffet in the US for this price. Succulent salmon, a slightly spicy eggplant dish that i dream about. I've bought the eggplant dish for a couple of pot luck dinners where it was the favorite food at the table. I'm a vegetarian and there are ample choices of Middle Eastern salads and hot dishes to fill me up. And my friend loves the lamb and other meat options at the buffet. There are two kinds of rice - a Middle East specialty and saffron rice. The tasty lentil soup is not only part of the buffet but a bowl of this piping hot soup is an appetizer "on the house" for anyone who eats at the restaurant. Still hungry for dessert? Pieces of fresh sweet baklava and other similar pastries are only $1 each. No kidding. If you're too stuffed to eat dessert right away - you can get them "to go". Heavenly. read more

Getting authentic Middle Eastern Food (like my momma used to make) is not as easy living in Stow MA as it was when I lived in Boston. We learned of Zaytoon from our local newspaper who gave it a great review and decided to give it a try on Thursday night. Zaytoon did not disappoint! As soon as we sat down we were asked if we would like a cup of complimentary red lentil soup.It was served piping hot (something that I appreciate). It was delicious, full of flavor and greatly appreciated on this chilly night while we perused the menu. My wife enjoys ordering a number of appetizers (small-plates) as her entree while I prefer a more traditional approach. She began ordering hummus baba khanooj, falafel, tabouly, grape leaves, and the eggplant salad when the owner stopped her and told her that she was ordering enough food to feed an army. He suggested that she let him put together an assortment platter for her. This came out first and was served with a basket of thin (versus that thick stuff they sell in the supermarkets) pita bread. The baba khanooj was the best I ever had (sorry mom). It was smokey, creamy, delicate and the perfect consistency. The falafel were amazing - crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside and bursting with flavor. I ordered the Kubba which I expected to be like the kibbee I am used to eating. This came with fatoosh and a macaroni salad. The Kubba was different than what I expected (regional differences in mideast food) but like everything else they prepare delicious! We also ordered a side of french fries which seem to be served with every meal in Lebanon .For dessert we had tea, Turkish Coffee and Baklava. The tea, was real brewed tea using loose green tea leaves - a very intoxicating perfume flavor to it. One item worth noting is the music - Authentic Arabic MTV. It enhances the experience. Sure, I agree - we ordered way too much food but our plan was to have enough for dinner the next night at home (which we will). And... our bill with Tax was $42. This place is a hidden gem. The owners are very nice people and they truly care about the quality of the food they serve. Like others who have reviewed Zaytoon I was surprised to see that there were very few patrons. Quick Summary: This is an affordable restaurant and the food quality is a bit above average. Our service experience was pretty bad, but our waiter and the rest of the staff seemed nice. Detailed review: Restaurant service can suck for two reasons: 1) when the staff is mean/rude and 2) when they're incompetent and/or inattentive. At Zaytoon, all the staff - including our waiter - seemed nice and they were never rude. They simply weren't attentive and they weren't on the ball. Upon walking in to this drab, brightly-lit, cafeteria-like restaurant, it wasn't immediately clear to us whether we were supposed to order at the counter or take a seat and wait for a server. We were milling about the counter doing our best to send inquisitive vibes, but none of the staff seemed to pick up on our cues and went about their business prepping food in the semi-open kitchen. We had to explicitly ask how to order and we were told to take a seat. Later on, we witnessed other customers going through a similar process of trying to determine how to order. One couple sat down at their table first but after a minute or two, they second-guessed themselves and walked up to the counter and began browsing the deli-like overhead menu and deciding what they were going to order. It wasn't until they attempted to actually place their order at the counter that they were told to take a seat. I cringed watching the staff remain oblivious to, or simply lacking concern about, the situation. I didn't feel it was my place to get up from my table and inform them or to raise my voice loud enough to be heard half-way across the restaurant, however. Perhaps a sign instructing customers to please seat themselves would prevent this awkward beginning to the Zaytoon experience for future customers. Someone came by our table almost immediately after we sat down and handed us menus, but we were not tended to again for over 15 minutes. During our wait, at least three employees saw us sitting there but they didn't do or say anything. I was just about to walk up to the counter to inquire again, when the server finally arrived to take our order. He told us he forgot about us and that he was sorry. After giving him our order, our appetizers and entrees were served very promptly (within less than 5 minutes) and at the same time. The food he placed on our table was fresh and the fried food was piping hot (which is the best way to serve fried food), but he forgot a few things. He delivered the forgotten items in slow installments. Silverware: 3 minute wait. Water: 2 minute wait. Hot Sauce: 5 minute wait, etc. The falafel wrap and lamb kabob wrap were dry, and when we requested more tahini sauce, the waiter left for several minutes and when he returned he told us that they were all out of tahini. About 10 minutes later, when we were almost done eating our dry sandwiches, our waiter arrived unexpectedly with dish of tahini. It was pretty good tahini, although it was in paste form, as opposed to the more liquid-like sauce form that is typically used as a condiment in a falafel or kabob sandwich. The falafel itself is of above average quality, but not great. The lamb kabob is made of seasoned ground lamb meat and was also good but not great. We got a $10 appetizer sampler which isn't listed on their menu, but the server recommended it when we asked if we could sample a few appetizers. The fatoosh and the four bean salad were excellent, but they were in small portions on the sampler tray. The check for 2 people (a lot of food and some beverages) came to just over $27, which is very reasonable. After a long wait, our waiter asked if we needed change and he came back with a $10 bill, two $1 bills and coins. The denominations of change he provided would allow us to leave a less than 10% tip or a nearly 40% tip. At least five minutes had passed since we opened the folder to find that he had provided us sub-optimal change and the waiter was nowhere in sight, so I had to walk up to the counter to ask the waiter to break the $10 bill, explaining that I wanted to be able to leave him a reasonable tip. Despite the many frustrations we experienced at Zaytoon, he got 6 bucks and change for his tip (approx. 25%). I'm a softie. In conclusion, while this was a disappointing first experience, I might give this place a second chance if I'm ever in the area again and I'm looking for an affordable meal and I'm in the mood for Middle Eastern food and I have a lot of time available in case the service is extremely slow again. I have no idea if that confluence of circumstances and desires will ever occur, however. read more

it is my first visit and absolutely not the last. this restaurant have all the homemade Arabic food and as fresh as you can think of. the food is super yummy specially the kabab and flafel non the less the konafa. I would like to mention that this restaurant has NO cooking smell when u enter it as well as after u leave it which indicates how CLEAN it is!! This was followed by the hummus, which is some of the best I've ever had. After the hummus we each had a spinach pie, which were pillowy and stuffed with spinach and feta. We tried Zaytoon last night, as we were looking for something other than the usual Clinton offerings of pizza/sub joints. What we found was a hidden jem! The family who runs this establishment were lovely, the offerings were spot on. I had never tried baba gnoush before and it was delicious and smokey, as a previous reveiwer stated. Also tried the chicken swarma wrap & cheese and oreganco pie - YUM! My husband tried the beef plate, that was packed with veggies, and a wonderful rice with lots of extra niceties it. We loved the decor, and the exotic music videos playing. We were too full to try any of the tasty looking desserts they had to offer. It was freezing in there, the shawarma was not chewable, the rice hard, the tzadiki was not good, the pita thin and stale, the soup not good.
