Welcome to Monta! Wait, no, welcome to Shogun! Actually, welcome to Shogun again! But as of this month, it's become Zen Curry East, the latest inhabitant of this chameleon of a spot. The interior looks about the same and the parking lot as about as tough to find parking in sometimes, especially this Saturday evening. Heck, there's even some ramen still on the menu. That said, I was here for the curry-focused business model we've known and loved since the original Japanese Curry Zen opened on Spring Mountain circa 2012, so enjoying this model with customizable curry in basically Henderson has been a long time coming. I had the regular size curry ($10.50) with white rice, pork katsu (+$5.50), spicy level 2 (+$0.20). The curry was plentiful and full of spices, not to mention a mild kick of heat. The rice was cooked nicely and portioned well. The pork katsu was crispy and tender. It wasn't especially amazing for a katsu, but it didn't have mouthfeel issues like another spot I recently tried. There were some small but obvious problems though. The scallions and red radishes which I requested in the free 1 oz amount of each were completely omitted. Also, the A/C blowing through the restaurant was not just annoying me by tossing the napkin around, but also cooled the curry down too much too quickly. I also tried some of the apps. The karaage ($5.75) was a massive portion of what appeared to be strips of chicken breast, breaded and fried. The spicy mayo served with it was more than enough of a portion. The shishito peppers ($4.00) had a similar spicy mayo, which was therefore way overly portioned. The peppers were cooked nicely but I seemed to find more spicy peppers than not, which didn't suit my palate. I will likely be back to Zen Curry East when I get a curry craving in particular since we don't have much in the way of dedicated curry shops, and it's much easier to make my way here than to any of their other locations.

So glad to FINALLY have a location near us near Henderson! We regularly go to the one on Rainbow and also the Chinatown location. So nice to be getting more authentic Asian food our way. Food: croquette curry and chicken katsu curry. Food was as expected and consistent with the other locations! Zen curry has the best, authentic Japanese curry. Even my Japanese mother agrees! Service: no one else was there since they just opened a few days ago. Ambiance: the layout is the same as it was from the previous restaurant which is unfortunately, a small, odd, triangular layout. Not sure what they could do to fix it or open it up other than get rid of the host area.

Great price and customizable, you can have different protein options and toppings. The spice also goes all the way up to 100?! I got level 4 and it was a nice kick while still having that curry, gravy flavor. They also have ramen and brothless bowls. Service was great and quick.

    Honey Toast. Delicious!

Excellent service. Food was da bomb. Good to have a little Japanese curry spot close to home. Plus the honey toast? Easily shareable and great way to end the meal. Will be back for sure!

Amazing and wonderful food! So happy that they opened one south east. It such a key location for those who live in Henderson or far south. My friends and I are always wanting to go to curry zen but it's been too far from us. I know this was a soft opening but the food was amazing! All the time I am so happy to get my spicy curry (they also have normal curry as well). Food was great and thanks to the amazing servers Gabby and Angel, I was able to get my food and more! I would come back again soon. I also know it's a bit smaller than other curry zen spots, but like always the music is good, tv makes it feel like home, and can 100% see good convos started here. Spicy ramen was better than Raman sora (sorry, but it's my opinion). 10/10 would eat again.

    Takoyaki

Yay I'm so happy there's a location nearby now! Great service and yummy curry. I came during soft opening, the quality is consistent across all locations. Will definitely be returning :)

Good portion sizing, I'm happy with the amount of curry they gave compared to other locations. The food was served hot and my fried egg wasn't as overcooked as there other locations. Solid fast location to hit the curry cravings.

Mixed fry plate was so delicious! The sauce was excellent

I love zen curry!! This location just opened and quickly became my favorite. The service was amazing. They made sure we had everything we needed and it all came out hot and fresh. I can't wait to try the curry noodles next time. The room felt cozy and intimate. While it's not the location closest to me, the great ambiance makes the drive worth it. I'll be there very frequently!!

There's always a wait, because the place is tiny but the wait never seems too long and it is worth it. My favorite is the miso ramen with a side of the eggs. Their eggs are a must have. It won't be complete without it. Sometimes, we get a side of fried rice with it and that is also amazing too. Only down side is the parking. For me, it's a hit or miss. I may come at a time where there seems to be a few open spaces and other times, I would have to circle the lot and the street to find parking. Either way, I don't mind because the prize is waiting for me at Monta.

Every since Menya Musashi closed down, we had to visit Jinya every so often. Ramen boys' Tsukemen sucked, but think their Tonkotsu was decent from what I remember last? This place is one of my cousin's favorite local ramen place. If it's as consistent, then definitely can become a favorite here! But Vegas is full of false hope. Consistency is considered a difficult expectation even for chain food places in Vegas, typical. We'll see. We visited on Labor Day Monday around 930pm. No line with only 1 single diner and us there. It wasn't until maybe 10pm when more visitors started popping in. The place looks great for individual eaters too. I'm not sure it's as spectacular to wait in a line? $14.50 Deluxe Tonkotsu. This and the classic are popular choices. But I was eyeing the Kuro Black Garlic. Do deluxe was an easy choice cause it has the black garlic in it. - Add extra noodles for $2.50 (which I did to-go with my leftover Tsukemen broth also taken to-go). They can offer thin noodles or udonish but not the Tsukemen special one. - This ramen was mild spicy which took me by surprise. In case anyone can't do any spicy due to dietary, medical etc, then I'm sure they can take it out? Noodle texture was great! Broth was decent and more simple. $15.95 Tsukemen. Usually a fav of mine but very difficult to find a place I like? Only the OG original Sliverlake Ramen did it for me. Noodles were on point!! Broth was decent. However, looks like missing corn or maybe other eaters like to add corn to theirs? And the meat pieces were pretty tiny or scrappy in my broth. I was expecting a bit larger pieces than 2, and slot more scrappy pieces. Only the Deluxe Miso Ramen has diary in its ramen. All the other ramens have are dairy free! Was looking into the small bowls like the salmon egg/mini mentaiko bowl $6.25 but was told by staff that it's alot of rice and small amount of eggs. So it was a no for me. $5.50 Sapporo Draft. $3.95 Sapporo light via bottle. Next time looking to also try their shoyu style, and black graphic ramen.

My only experience is with instant ramens and friends at work trying to throw something together. So this I will reiterate again if flipping amazing. I order an appetizer of shrimp skewers, which were amazing. They were perfectly cooked and paired with a side of spicy mayo, which I have to say was the best I've ever had before. The spice was just right, the mayo wasn't to mayoey if you know what I mean. But the main part the ramen oh my goodness!!! The ramen was perfect, not over cook, salted or bland but just perfect. The presentation was also very, very beautiful. I wish I would've taken a picture. But sadly I didn't. Uhhhhhhh!!!!! But also the servers here are awesome, they are very attractive without being overwhelming or underwhelming. Which I very much appreciate. The atmosphere was lively without being overwhelming. Yes there was a loud table, but I was able to ignore them easily enough. So out of everything I would rate this cute little restaurant a 10/10 stars to be honest. I'm not someone who goes out to eat a lot so when I do I try to make it an experience. And this one was a very wonderful one. So thank you to Shikoku Ramen (kitchen, Servers, Back prep people) you rock. I will be back again sometime soon hopefully!!!!

But honestly, sometimes that makes you think, "Okay... if it looks like this, the food MUST be bomb." And thankfully, it was! When we first walked in, we checked ourselves in through the Yelp waitlist, but nobody greeted us or explained what to do. As first-timers, that was a little off-putting because we weren't even sure if we had checked in correctly. Eventually we were seated, though, and once someone attended to us, everything moved pretty quickly. We ordered the spicy umami ramen, garlic edamame, and nigori sake. For our son, we ordered the veggie ramen but asked if they could make it super simple with just the noodles, broth, and corn because he is VERY picky. They were totally accommodating, which we really appreciated. Now THE RAMEN. My first bite was honestly like, "Okay, this isn't bad." But then I kept eating it...and the flavor just kept opening up. Then we took a sip of the nigori sake, went back to the ramen, and OMG. It completely changed the experience. The spice was SO GOOD. It's the kind that catches you in the back of your throat before it even hits your tongue. It might have you coughing for a second, but somehow you're coughing while immediately going back in for another bite because YOU CAN'T STOP EATING IT. The flavor just builds and builds. So good! And the biggest win? OUR SON ATE HIS RAMEN. He actually really enjoyed it, which is huge for us because now ramen officially goes on the list of foods we can all go out and eat as a family! As far as atmosphere, this isn't really a fancy date-night spot. It's more of a casual ramen joint where I'd come with family, friends, or coworkers when I just want some really good food. The only thing keeping this from five stars for me was the service experience. Not being greeted or told how the waitlist worked was confusing as a first-time customer, and there wasn't much checking back once we had our food. If that doesn't matter to you, then honestly, you're good to go because THE FOOD DELIVERS. Overall, four stars and definitely recommended. Come for the ramen, don't expect a whole meet-and-greet situation , and prepare yourself for that spicy umami because it was BOMB.
