    Sweet potato fries

Truly amazing experience from the moment I walked in. We were greeted by the manager. We sat at the bar and Gene made our drinks perfectly. Firstly we had the shrimp tacos which were the best shrimp tacos I have ever had in my life. I will go back just for the shrimp tacos. I had wings and sweet potato fries and hubby had the Jamaican steak sandwich and everything was superb. We will be returning to try everything on the menu. Before I forget the drink we're great I had the passion punch mocktail and hubby had the rum punch (it was so nice he had it twice) we will definitely return. Oh I forgot to mention that the ambience was "Unpretentious comfort wrapped in friendly energy" and very modern with great music.

Proof of wait at three hours

Unacceptable Experience at Zens - A Four-Hour Wait, hungry children, and No Accountability" I visited Zens on September 21st along with over 25 members of my family. I initially chose not to leave a review; however, after seeing that one of my family member's Google reviews was removed -- and that the response to Dina's review was to insult the customer -- I feel compelled to speak up. Although we were a large group, we did not order as a group. We simply met there; each person ordered and paid separately. Yet somehow, it took over four hours for everyone to receive their meals. The staff insisted that no one could be served their main course until all appetizers for everyone affiliated with our party had been served -- even though we were individual customers. This policy makes absolutely no sense. No one should ever have to wait nearly half a business day to receive food, especially when they're not part of a single group order. If a reservation was required to handle a party of this size, that should have been communicated upfront. I personally arrived early to ask if the restaurant could accommodate our group, and I was told it wouldn't be an issue. Some people didn't even order appetizers -- so why were their meals withheld? To make matters worse, our server claimed that four chefs were working that day, which I later learned was untrue. It was clear that Zens didn't care that people were hungry, had low blood sugar, or that children were waiting far too long for food. Many in our family were first-time customers -- and now they've vowed never to return. This was a missed opportunity for Zens to impress a large group of potential repeat customers. Instead, they delivered incomplete meals, made changes to dishes without informing anyone, and then responded to valid criticism with hostility rather than accountability. To top it off, it appears at least one family review has since been deleted, which only adds to the disappointment. Zens didn't just fail to "wow" their customers -- they managed to turn an anticipated family gathering into an exhausting and frustrating experience. So as Dina expressed- people should plan to take PTO if they come for lunch. Attaching a pic of a text message sent three hours into wait

Real time text during extended wait at Zen

Zen Caribbean Soul Fusion: Come hungry, leave... eventually. The food here is delicious, no doubt about it, but you might want to bring a sleeping bag and an overnight kit if you plan to eat. It took over four hours for our meal to arrive, and when it finally did, the order was incomplete. By then, we were less excited about the flavors and more exhausted from the wait. If you have the patience of a saint or a lot of free time, you will enjoy the food. Otherwise, consider this more of an endurance test than a dining experience. I have attached a text message that happened real time during the visit to Zen. No one should have to wait half of business day to receive a food order. The experience was not Zen.

    Hair in my shrimp quesadilla

I originally gave them a great review on Google because the food is delicious. HOWEVER, I checked yelp reviews and a lot of people were saying they found hair in their food... so I decided to OPEN UP my quesadilla to make sure there was nothing in there and of course I found a piece of hair!!! I already ate most of my food, so I wonder what else was in there! It's a shame because the food is very flavorful, but it seems like they have an issue with cleanliness. And this is why I cook at home :(

Okay Okay.. my husband and I decided to try Zen once again... and let me tell you the food was AMAZING! Who ever was the chef.. he or she put their foot in it. The waitress Jayna was very nice. The atmosphere is chill and good vibes! Love the decor. Relax mode. Ate everything on my plate. My tummy was very happy! Thank you Zen, I'll see you next time, with the fam.

Environment was great! Good music was played which set the best vibes for our bestie day out. Our waitress Kiaa, was such a sweetheart and kept the bottomless mimosas going. I had the and . It was good just wished the chicken was a bit more flavor. My friend ordered the Jamaican Rasta pasta which was very good. I would definitely go back to try something else on the menu.

Went to Zen Lounge for the pink & white party. The tickets for the event were sold out, but I had no problem paying at the door for admission, which was $20. The bouncers and host that gave me a wristband were very sweet. The DJ was great. It was a throwback R&B theme night, so we loved it! Around 11:30, there was live singing. The women were talented and sang beautifully. However, I paid money to attend an event with a DJ. It kind of killed the vibe. If anything, they should have had them sing earlier in the night. Would have appreciated their talent more if it was a karaoke or open mic night. We ordered a hookah and we had a large party. There was a lot of confusion about sitting inside versus outside. It took a very long time to be served. Speaking of taking a long time, we had bought a table for the event as well, so a server was taking our drinks. Priscilla was great, but it seemed like she was the only person running drinks. This obviously caused a delay. She was working very hard to serve a lot of people. I'm confused how they did not have more staff, especially for an event that had sold out. Issue with management. Priscilla was pingponging all over Zen all night. The drinks were inconsistent in taste, color, and even amount in the cup. A couple times we got the drinks and the cups were 3/4 full. The redeeming factors are the vibe of the place, the guava señorita drink was tasty, and the DJ was really good. I would only recommend this place if you have a lot of patience! As you will most likely be waiting around for your drinks, your hookah, for DJ to come back on, etc

I will say I enjoyed my time at Zen the food was delicious, the staff professional and courteous, the manager entertaining. The drinks had me leaning, but the music is what came for...had this lady of a certain age doing her two step

"Shoe string sweet potato fries" more like steak cut fries. However the fries did come out very fast!

Hair in my friend's rasta pasta as soon as it came out.

I rarely write reviews like this, but my experience at Zen's Dining Lounge was beyond unacceptable. I brought my best friend (who was visiting me for the first time), my brother, and my four-year-old son, expecting a nice dining experience. Instead, we got the worst service I've ever encountered. We ordered our food and drinks, and while I was already on my second drink, our meals still hadn't arrived. My brother, who had to leave for a five-hour drive, paid for his drinks separately at the bar and left. After waiting an hour and a half with no food, we finally asked for the bill and requested the food be removed, as we simply couldn't wait any longer. Miraculously, just five minutes after requesting the bill, our food appeared--convenient timing, right? We asked for to-go boxes, but the moment my friend lifted a piece of pasta, there it was: a huge hair embedded in the food. Absolutely disgusting. At that point, we refused to pay for the meals and asked for a manager. We were repeatedly told, "The manager will be here in five minutes," but no one ever showed. With my son getting restless and us being completely fed up, we had no choice but to leave. I initially decided not to write a review because I wanted to support a Black-owned business, but then, days later, my brother discovered that the restaurant charged his card $180 without authorization, that the owner refused to refund--a card that he had only used at the bar to pay for his drinks. This place didn't just serve terrible food with a side of bad service; they straight-up scammed him. The proof is right here in these photos. If I could give negative stars, I would. Zen's Dining Lounge will never see another dime from me or anyone I know.

If I tried to speak at all that is rude??? This was after her daughter hung up on me without even letting me complete a sentence. So I called back and the owner answered. I bought two $5 scones that turned out to be baked yesterday and were cold and hard from being kept in the refrigerator. According to the owner **I** was supposed to ask if they were fresh, or cold, or needed to be warmed up. It was all on me to find out. Really??? I wasn't supposed to assume they were fresh. Seriously?? It's a bakery. The **common and accepted practice** for a bakery is to sell "day old" baked goods as just that.....day old, and for a slightly lower price than same day freshly baked. Customers are supposed to know that they are buying a day old product and not same day fresh. The fact that they are selling a product and not selling it as day old is dishonest. Why would a customer be *expected* to ask if the scones are fresh? And one wonders how many days they would continue to sell those same refrigerated and old scones? I have purchased from their stand at the Beacon Farmer's Market many times and loved it. The young man who I buy from is great, always friendly and nice. The woman, who I assume is the owner is a horrible, rude woman. She went on a tirade about how I was supposed to find out if the scones were fresh, just on and on and on, and about how rude I was and my "tone". In her opinion the customer is always wrong. Awful person, obviously on the defensive. What a horrible way to run a business and a horrible and unprofessional way to interact with a customer. Just an awful woman. Here's a little tip....if you let the customer speak, finish a sentence and listen to them rather than not allowing them to speak they might not have that "tone". As soon as I tried to speak I was "rude", simply because I was speaking and not listening to her tirade. This woman is the rudest and most hostile business owner I have encountered. Oh.....I also bought a pie....that I just looked at. I specified apple and strawberry. The box is labeled apple and strawberry but the pie inside is blueberry. And the bottom crust is not done.
