Wow I was in town for the weekend and what a great find! I was needing a coffee to get my day started and I'm glad I came across this place. The atmosphere was friendly and was super spacious. I wish I would have had more time to be able to relax on the back patio that they have. Anyway the baristas were very helpful and I saw that they had a "cafe con leche" on the menu. It was also offered over ice which I've never seen and I've had a lot of cafe con leche living in Miami. I decided to try their take on it and I'm so glad I took the chance. It was delicious and would 10/10 recommend! If you're in the Albuquerque area I would definitely suggest visiting this place. I will be back and want to try other things on the menu! read more

I love their coffee! They have the best Turkish Latte, that I crave all of the time! The only reason I'm giving a 4 star instead of a 5 is because they are a little too loud for a work space to hold video calls. The music is a little too loud inside (perfect if you are grabbing a coffee to sit and hang out leisurely with a friend) and due to being off a busy street it's really loud outside as well with cars and large trucks, I also didn't see any charging stations outside for your computer either... anyway, I really love this place and will come back as often as possible, just not to work! Zendo is the perfect place to go for a chocolate croissant. My first visit I got a hot chai latte and a chocolate croissant. While the chai was nice, the croissant was the true star of the show. It was flaky with a sweet gooey middle that left me craving for more! My second visit I got the sweet Bonnie and the vegan hazelnut chocolate croissant. The sweet Bonnie was amazing! I got it Iced and it had a really lovely subtle orange vanilla flavor. And again, the croissant was everything and more. Again, flaky pastry with a gooey middle. And it wasn't like Nutella spread, it was real chopped hazelnuts with great chocolate. But pricey, but it's always a good treat when I have some extra cash. read more

Great coffee and most flaky and crunchy croissant . Tried the Aztec, Turkish and maple ginger. All are good and quite interesting combinations of spiciness , sweetness and coffee. Croissant is one of the best that I had. Not sure if this is an Albuquerque thing . The one I had in Campo also is quite flaky, While most other cities I visited have the croissant on more bready side. I came here to get some late breakfast, and I got a green chile burrito as well as a chocolate donut. The burrito got heated up and served with some salsa, and it was quite delicious although the paper wrapping the burrito was stuck to the burrito itself. The chocolate donut wasn't too sweet and was almost like eating a cake; the consistency was interesting and good. All this came out to be around $10 post-tax which is a bit pricey. Due to covid, there's no seating indoors but there's two tables outside to enjoy the good weather and eat some good food! read more

I wanted to love this place. I love the concept of a coffee shop which displays the work of local artists, and the space itself is nicely lit. What I found, however, is basically the cool girls' table from a high school lunch room continued by people in their mid to late 20's. There's definitely a clique thing going on here, which is kind of silly when you're in customer service. If you're not seen as cool enough, don't expect to be treated very nicely by some of the staff (or the people cool enough for them to converse with). The coffee wasn't consistent either. read more

Zendo Coffee is the perfect place to grab some brew. It's has an authentic vibe with tons of character. There's indoor seating as well as a great - no fantastic - patio. I went there for a weekday cup, but it was still very busy. The group was quite eclectic with all kinds of people from hipsters to businessmen and everyone in between. This is definitely a must try place! I rate on the price bell curve, so more expensive places have higher expectations. You always get a value rating. Food Allergy Review: I decided to visit Zendo on my way to work at the recommendation of a friend. There are a ton of great coffee shops in ABQ, so what makes Zendo stand out? For me it was the availability of gluten free donuts made at a local bakery but sold at Zendo! What made me give Zendo 5 stars are the quality drinks, convenient location, and that everything tested gluten free on my Nima Sensor. I ordered and tested a zia latte (white chocolate latte with cinnamon) and two donuts from Planty Sweet. Everything was delicious, but the donuts were stored in an open cabinet with gluten containing items. Due to risk of cross contamination, the only thing that would make Zendo better would be if they kept the Planty Sweet baked goods in an enclosed, separate container. That would greatly reduce the risk and need to test every time, which is nice when you are rushing to work. Overall Zendo was a cool place with tasty food and drinks; I definitely want to stop by again soon to try out more of their menu. read more

Ok, five stars right out the gate for using coffee ice cubes in their iced coffees so that the drink doesn't get all watery long before you're done. SO extra important on a 99F day like today! Lost half a star for their total ordering confusion - they don't call out names, they make and put drinks on the counter without clarifying who they are for, and evidently the guy who took our order uses his own shorthand which the girl making the drinks doesn't necessarily also follow. After much back and forth with which of the SEVERAL unclaimed drinks lined up on the counter was ours, finally the guy who put all the orders in had to come and clarify which glass belonged to which person from all the customers still waiting. Why not just jot our names down on the top of the receipts? Earn a star back for deliciousness. Had an iced coffee and ordered another one for the road because it was great coffee. Extra bonus stars for being wonderful supporters of the non-profit that I work for. I've had Zendo's hot coffee at some of our events and have now had the opportunity to check them out. Nice location with seating inside and out. Back patio area is a great place to sit. Glad I finally tried it and will be back! read more

It's a nice space to work in. Easy going vibe. Their burritos (from Sister Bar) are delicious, and they have a good berry danish, but every time I have gone there, I leave disappointed. The way they make their London Fogs is not satisfying at all - it's never sweet, it's like they make it with water. It doesn't taste like anything, even when lavender syrup is added. I might as well be drinking hot, flavorless water. Thumbs down. read more

I respect that immensely and appreciate the consideration, especially considering we are not local to ABQ so I am adding a star. We are all human and have off days, so I'm sure that was the situation here. Regardless the drinks were top notch and if you're a local or passing through, just don't miss out on this place! ORIGINAL REVIEW: Bittersweet experience here. Although the drinks served were truly delicious, the staff was beyond hateful and uninviting. My husband and I were traveling from AZ back home to TX and intentionally sought out this shop based on their reviews and menu offerings. I was so excited to try! We each had a drink in store to get us awake (one espresso and one Turkish latte) and then each a drink to go (one pour over and one matcha). We were treated as if we were a hassle, I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume it was just a long day and they were tired, but even when we said thank you and tried to express our apology for ordering at the end of the day (but still well within the "open" hours) we got dirty looks and no response. Cute spot on the south side of town. Friendly staff that helped me decide what I wanted. I got the rose and lavender latte at first(a little sting on the lavender side) and ended up with the dulce de leche. Banana bread was excellent and full of flavor. I rarely pass within 100 miles of ABQ without stopping at Zendo (only when it's not open). My favorite drink is the MAROCCHINO, but their mochas are good too. I do have to say that as I've gotten older, I prefer an unsweetened mocha, which isn't an option here, but their drinks aren't so sweet that I can't drink them like many other places. My one bit of wish would be for the sweetener to be separate from their ganache for mochas so that those of us who prefer (or need) completely unsweetened drinks but still like to taste a lot of chocolate can get that. (While one can opt for "half-sweet," that means less chocolate when they aren't separate.). Still, I've intentionally driven through the Q even when it was hours out of the way, just to stop at Zendo. Great vegan food options, great service, and cool environment. We were able to sit on the patio with my child's dog once, too! We will always go back! read more

Zendo has been a staple since I discovered the cozy coffee shop in 2015. I have since moved to LA, but I continue to stop by every time I am in town. Even in Covid times, the staff is friendly, efficient, and pleasant. Nothing beats the atmosphere in the shop, but the coffee is so delicious that it's worth stopping by for a coffee to go during COVID as well. read more

I was downtown waiting for the MVD to open. I thought I could wait at Zendo because they're open early. I got to the shop 15 minutes before opening. I asked if I could come in because it's cold out... I was told a flat "no" and then the employee locked the door. So, not off to a good start. But I still waited because I've seen good things. I finally get in, and I ask for the Chemex brew, but the employee pushed whatever was on airpot. At this point, I just wanted coffee. So I let him serve me the easiest thing possible. I was prepared to pay for the extra time and preparation and then tip well. But alas, it must be too early to get what you want. The airpot coffee was fine enough. Ready to drink right away. The atmosphere is killer though. Beautiful space, great local art displayed, real attention to aesthetic. Perhaps I will try it again... But I can't say this was a good first impression. read more

The window service system they have going on right now is very efficient and the baristas are extremely friendly and knowledgeable! The menu has lots of different options for people who love coffee but also for those who prefer other types of handmade beverages. I stopped in after doing a search for espresso and was very glad I did. Beans roasted here are delicious!! I had the Zia latte going light on the white chocolate, served hot day one and iced the next day, both ways perfect. Yes, I went back the next morning! It was that good all around. Zendo has a really cool and laid back vibe, original artwork available for sale, and plenty of table space for dropping in to get some socializing, reading or work done. Oh and pastries available are varied and all that I tried - salted caramel cookie, banana bread, and an apple glazed donut - were on point. Very fresh, quality and taste of a skilled Baker in the house. Staff were delightful and personable. There are also a variety of tables and seating available inside and out. Equal parts cute-sy, equal parts intellectual, equal parts industrial, Zendo is the place for a quick cup of coffee or for romanticizing the "aesthetic". It's not just for looks though, it's for quality. Take the Turkish Latte or what I would like to infer is the liquid version of Prince's 'Around the World in a Day'.
