I bought an EV Charger from ChargePoint and needed a good electrician to install it. It was delivered on Saturday. I usually have good contractors to do these kinds of things, but my electrician moved away. So I turned to Yelp. I always use the filter to select rating because I don't care how close a contractor is to me in LA. Zenith Electric, Inc. had over 200 5-star ratings so I read several of them. They told the same type of situation repeatedly about on time, clean, polite, did a good job, reasonable price. So I called them not expecting a response on Saturday. Well I was wrong. They were open. I was told that Art would need to call me and will do so by 3:00pm About 2:30 Art called me. Art said he could avoid a visit if I walk over to my electrical panel using my phone's facetime to show him my electrical panel, where I want to have it installed, and my outside meter and breakers. When we were done with that, he said he would text me his estimate. About 45 minutes later I received the estimate and it also said he could do the work Monday morning 10-12. I texted him right back and said Yes, please schedule me for Monday morning. On Monday morning at about 10:10 Vians arrived with Sevan. They began the work right away. About 1 1/2 hours later, they knocked on the door and said they were done. The ChargePoint was installed on my wall right where I wanted it, and working. They installed a 60 AMP breaker on my Panel Outside for it. Their work was neat, clean and professional. I wrote out a check for the amount Art had sent me, and they wrote out a receipt on the spot. Then the following week, I was called to say the inspection from the city was the following Monday. That Monday morning I was called and informed the city inspector was scheduled for 2-5 in the afternoon. Art showed up a little before 2:00 pm. He had his paperwork ready for the inspection who showed up about an hour later and signed off on the city permit. Art gave the signed permit to me and my job was completed. My installation qualifies for a DWP rebate of up to $1000 so I had everything that I needed to get my installation rebate. I now have a good electrician I can refer to my real estate clients. He declined the job without ever providing an estimate. It was a large job so perhaps too much for him. I see that he replied no estimate because a meter spot was needed. That's only true for the part of the job that involved the main panel. He could have provided a quote for replacing the two subpanels, which I asked for. And I told him the meter spot had been ordered but DWP needed to approve it before we would know the equipment approved. Anyway, the whole job now is done and very well by a competitor. read more

Bait and switch. Don't trust the quote. Will upcharge you over and over. Terrible experience. Here's my experience: Electrician showed up, quoted $1,500 for multiple light installs. I have all lights on hand and pointed out all install sites. Afterward I ask about adding some switches and landed at $1,850. Then I also asked about a large chandelier install as a phase 2 project and pull up the exact model of the chandelier ordered, was quoted $1,200. So All together we're at $1,850 + $1,200 = $3,050. We agree to part 1 of the project and the chandelier at a later date but I decline the switches, but now my quote is $1,600 instead of the initial $1,500 agreed to. He won't budge. Against my better judgement I agree and let him move forward. Day of install he gets into the lights and says an additional $150 is needed for wiring work. At this point he's literally standing on my counter with the junction box exposed so I agree to it just to get it done. We're now at $1,750 instead of the original $1,500 quoted. Job gets done and he says one of the other lights would normally require another upcharge, but he's doing me a favor by not charging even more than the agreed upon price. He comes back for the chandelier install. Opens the box and says he can't install the chandelier at the agreed upon price and it has to be $3,000 instead of $1,200. Either these hidden up charges are just part of their business model or there is completely inadequate due diligence that they'll pass on the end customer. read more

Requested for someone to come out and give me an estimate for work on a new house I bought. An electrician was come out Friday, December 1, 2023 at 11:00 AM, At 11:56 AM I contacted the office to see if they were still on there way, and they stated they will contact the electrician to get in contact with me. Tuesday, December 5, 2023, I reached out again and they stated they will be sending over an estimate and I provided my email address. Thursday, December 14, 2023, I reach out because I have not received anything and by now I have already 3 other estimate from electrical contractors for the job. I informed them I haven't received anything yet and the response was, "the electrician did want to talk to you". My number and email are on file and at any time an attempt could have been made but it wasn't. Their loss. Kindly note this was for an electrical panel upgrade from 100 to 200 AMPs and repositioning the weatherhead. Possibly rewiring the house too. read more

I'm so happy I could cry. I had hired another company to move my recessed lights - the area where the lights were previously located was about to be covered by a closet unit. After cutting holes in the new locations, the other company was unable to install the lights - they said the blown insulation in my attic made it impossible to see the joists, and the air duct from my HVAC unit was too close for them to install the new cans. When I called Zenith Electric, a helpful human answered the phone! They were willing to come take a look at my project in person, but I wanted to start with a video call. A totally stress-free EV charger installation. No need to look further! Zenith Electric is the BEST. We were looking for a reliable electrician to install a chandelier in our new build home that had pre-installed wiring, but the placement was not centered in either the living room nor dining room. We had Tedi and Art on-site a month ago for the dining room, but had them return for our living room instead. My house experienced a partial power outage overnight with no circuit breaker tripping and the power restoring by itself in the morning. LADWP said there was no power outage, so I called Zenith Electric to come out and check to see if there are any issues.
